INTRODUCTION
' A geological mapping survey was carried out between the 8th
l and 28th of August, 1989 on an eight claim group in concession VI,
lots 8 and 9, Beatty township. The mapping revealed no significant
l mineralization in surface outcrop.
" LOCATION AND ACCESS (see map 1)
lThe property is located in concession VI, lots 8 and 9 of
l Beatty Township, approximately 8 km northeast of Matheson, Ontario.
Part of Painkiller Lake occupies the southeastern part of the
l property .
An all weather gravel road links the property with Highway 101
l east of Timmins. The concession II/IV road is reached by the Carr-
Beatty boundary road.
PROPERTY STATUS
l The eight claims (L1071686-1071693) are wholly owned by
Noranda Exploration Company, Limited. They were staked in May 1988
l and since then ground magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys were carried
j out.

PREVIOUS WORK

l l
Noranda Exploration Company, Limited - 1972-73
lNoranda previously held a seven claim property of five claims
l are included in the present property. A very low frequency -
electromagnetic survey was carried out in 1972 and this was
" followed by the diamond drilling of two holes in 1973.
l
lCarried out ground magnetometer and very low frequency
m electromagnetic surveys in 1980 and 82. Drilled five diamond drill
m holes in 1980 and a single hole in 1984. Also did geological
mapping in 1983.

GENERAL GEOLOGY
Mafic Volcanics
l l The area is almost completely underlain by mafic volcanics
l with both pillowed and massive flows. Intruded into this are large
dyke-like masses of gabbro, having a generally southeastern strike
g (from previous magnetometer survey) . There is a large diabase dyke
g in the Eastern part of the property. Within the mafic volcanics
' there are a number of feldspar porphyry dykes.
l
l Generally mafic but possibly more intermediate in areas.
' Contacts are generally gradational or more rarely discontinuous
l between pillowed and massive units.
l Pillowed
l This unit is dark grey to dark green, soft to hard,
M homogeneous and fine-grained. It is strongly pillowed with sizes
varying from .01 to rarely 2a across. The grain size is larger in
l the larger pillows. Selvages are wide (up to 20mm) and are
generally chloritic. Chert masses are observable on flow contacts,
pillow selvages and even within the pillows themselves.
Silicification has made the rock hard to very hard in places.
l l
Massive
lThis unit is dark grey soft to medium hard homogeneous and
l fine to medium grained. It represents a massive flow of similar
m composition to the pillowed volcanics. In one area a very hard and
variolitic unit is found, this represents the . - intermediate
l composition of this rock type.
l
Gabbro
* This unit is a medium hardness, light coloured and medium to
l coarse-grained. Chill margins are observable against the volcanic
country rocks. At the northern contact of the main body of gabbro,
the volcanics have been brecciated by the intrusion. It is
slightly magnetic.
Feldspar Porphyry
l This unit occurs as dykes of 0.5 to 1m thick with one example
6m thick. The rhombic phenocrysts (up to 10mm long) are of white
l feldspar, in a grey, sometimes pinkish fine grained to glassy
B matrix. They generally strike east to southeast in direction.
l
l
l
l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l
Diabase
This unit is a dark coloured medium to coarse grained and strongly magnetic. Less magnetic chill margins are observable. The dyke is striking northward.
Tuff
There is one outcrop of a silicified lapilli tuff. It is light green, hard and has lapilli up to 4mm across. The rock has 51 quartz blebs up to 3mm across.
STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY
Both the north and south end of the diabase dyke are truncated by faults. The south end is truncated by the Pipestone Fault which may also be marked by the long axis of the gabbro intrusion (on the southern boundary).
MINERALIZATION
No significant mineralization was found.
RESULTS
None of the grab samples taken assayed any significant
results.
