Sharing the love of Christ with our Haitian neighbors at this blessed time of year
“This will be a sign unto you: You will find the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:12) The very thought of this holy night conjures up images of the lowly stable with our infant Savior surrounded by the animals. It was a powerful and deliberate plan for the Son of God to come from such humble beginnings. Yet, there are so many people in our world today who live each day in conditions just as rudimentary—if not far worse—than that cattle stall in Bethlehem.
So as we share this special time of year with our loved ones and rejoice in the Savior’s birth, let us also remember our neighbors in need.
Just over 500 miles off the coast of Florida, the island nation of Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. In this impoverished nation, 50 percent of its citizens are illiterate. The average lifespan is a mere 52 years old, and starvation, disease, and homelessness are widespread.
Life Connection Mission is a non-profit Christian mission based in the village of Montrouis, Haiti. Although our humble mission cannot possibly address all of the needs in Haiti, we are committed to doing everything we can to ease suffering, educate children, increase the quality of life, and work toward a sustainable future for our friends in Montrouis.
We operate a variety of ministries including a feedingprogram, mission school, medical clinics, housing projects,Christian outreach ministry, and job placement assistance. We strive not only to meet the immediate needs of those we serve, but to help create a sustainable future of promisefor them in the name of Jesus Christ.
Please look through our catalog and prayerfullyconsider how God is leading you to help. Youmay honor a friend or family member with your gift by requesting a gift card (see page 10). What a wonderful way toshare the true reason for the season!
To all the children of God who continue to help us serve our friends in Haiti in manyways, thank you from the bottom of ourhearts. May the peace of Christ whichpasses all understanding continue to bewith you. Have a blessed holiday season!
