General Safety in the Kitchen

Use wooden spoon to stir (does not transfer heat)

pull out oven rack when putting/removing pans in/from oven

check to make sure oven/elements are off (you lose your lab marks if oven is left on!!!)

Oven SafetyUse padded oven mitts/pot holders to handle hot dishes

DO NOT USE TOWEL/APRON etc.

Broken Glass ProceduresUse broom and dust pan if broken on the floorDamp paper towel – pick up remaining glassPlace in paper bag labeled ‘broken glass’Place on demo table and make sure I know about it

Working with Electrical Equipment

Plug appliance in before turning it onTurn appliance off before unpluggingHold onto the plug, not the cord when unplugging the appliance

Make sure hands are dry
