ingsley Plastics Ltd was

established in 1977 as a

private limited company

to provide GRP production

service for the UK’s Gas,

Electricity, Telecom & Water industries

of the seventies. Since a humble

beginning in Kingsley in Hampshire,

we have been able with the support

of our customers to expand our

services to include bespoke housings

& kiosks for all industries, steel

cabinets, full electrical and pump

installations coupled with full auto-cad

design and commissioning services.

Kingsley has the technology and

skilled designers, manufacturers

& installers to offer our customers

a ‘Total manufacturing solution’

enabling us to reduce lead-times,

improving the industry standards

and retaining a single control point

resulting in lower cost per item of

the finished unit.

With our own fleet of hi-ab equipped

lorries, manufacturing bases in Devon,

Dorset & Scotland with further sales

offices in each, we are ideally suited

to manage projects from across the

UK and beyond into Europe and afar.

A fundamental aspect of the

success of Kingsley is our belief in

first understanding our clients’ needs,

whether its design proposals and

submittal of auto-cad drawings,

through to attendance of site meetings and

inspections.

By getting to know our customers

markets and needs we are in a better posi-

tion to interpret flexible working

solutions for their market thus ensuring all

of our projects are completed

to the satisfaction of all involved and

to the highest possible standards.

Standards / Specifications The wall and roof panel construction

of all GRP kiosks is dependent on

customer specifications and kiosk size.

As a standard we have an 18mm WBP

plywood core encapsulated by fire

retardant resin and chopped strand

mat glass-fibre into not only the walls, but

also the roof of the structure.

The plywood used is weather and boil

proof to BS1203 suitable for external

applications on its own. For larger GRP

kiosks other reinforcements such as GRP

ribs may be encapsulated to

satisfy the structural design criteria

of an individual unit.

1 Hour BS 476 Part 21 Fire Resist-anceAgain setting new standards within

the industry, we can supply 1 hour

rated and fully certified fire resistant en-

closures for load bearing walls to

BS 476 Part 21. As with all GRP housing

& buildings, irrespective of size, all

GRP walls are load bearing as they them-

selves carry the weight of the roof of the

building. BS 476 Part 21 is the only up

to date specification applicable to GRP

Housings of all sizes and fully meets the

very latest guidelines within the industry.

Kingsley Plastics products are designed and engineered in order to create a cosmetic and more aesthetically pleasing structure. In many instances this manufacturing process is used to disguise:• Gas governor stations

• Electrical substations

• MCC control panels

• Telecommunications equipment

• Booster & pumping chambers

• Packaged wash water systems

In today’s society many of our ‘end users’

and their implementation teams face a

difficult task in creating visually pleas-

ing structures. Kingsley Plastics have the

ability to disguise these sites as everyday

structures and objects, often within ver-

nacular architecture.

This ability to manufacture products

that blend into the local surroundings can

be used to great effect to produce archi-

tectural concealments that do not look out

of place in either city centre’s

orthe most rural of areas. External

finishes can be applied to match and add

to existing and adjacent buildings, which

harmonise with the local surroundings.

The range of finishes that

can be provided are exceptional.

Our team makes every effort to ensure

that all architectural concealments are

aesthetically correct. Samples can be

fabricated before manufacturing

commences. These finishes can be

checked in accordance with the

surrounding environment, in order to

establish a quality finish that not only

matches but blends into its surroundings

without trace.

Kiosk lifting & fixing arrangementsKingsley buildings are manufactured with strengthened ground bolt fixing positions along

the internal base frame. On most kiosks, this is at all corners with triangular fillets of laminated

timber. On large walk-in housings the incorporation of extra fixing positions at 1 meter centres

are customary thus ensuring the safe installation of extremely large buildings of grand stature.

Kingsley Plastics were the first in its industry,

to manufacture and install totally maintenance

free, nonconductive GRP Fencing, Gates and

Grids for use within the Telecommunication

Industry. All of Kingsley’s products are

easily installed with a complete installation of

a compound fence and base, 8.5 mtr x 5.1 mtr

x 1.8 mtr High, typically installed within 1 day.

Each fence compound comes complete with a

single entry, pad lockable access gate coupled

with an Anti-Vandal system to the top of the

fence in order to further deter intruders.

nother first for the industry

is our specifically designed

non-conductive GRP

fencing. With ever

increasing telecom masts

being utilised onto the nation’s electricity

pylons, Kingsley understood the

challenges of sighting expensive

telecom equipment underneath high volt-

age electricity cables.

As conventional metal fencing could

not be used due to the high voltages from

the cables above, companies then pro-

ceeded to use wooden fencing as a way

to keep unwanted visitors at bay. It soon

became apparent that wooden fences

were not the answer as these became an

ever increasing target for vandals and fire

starters alike.

We were posed with the question of de-

signing a GRP fence capable of

deterring the majority of intruders

whilst keeping the cost and all

products within this range are designed

specifically and individually to meet

each independent site and location. Both

the fencing and the bases are installed by

our fully trained site teams thus rendering

a complete ‘telecom’ installation complete

within 1 day.
