King Fahad AreaEaling Council has carried out feasibility studies and secured funding to deliver transport improvements to the area adjacent to the King Fahad Academy on East Acton Lane. The proposals detailed in this document have been developed with local stakeholders to improve safety for all road users.
The closing date for this consultation is 21 December 2012
Existing IssuesIssues within this study area that have been identified include:
• A lack of a safe crossing point to the school along the main desired route – to and from East Acton Station
• High vehicle speeds on East Acton Lane• Poor pedestrian facilities and streetscape in the area • A low number of walking and cycling journeys to the
King Fahad Academy
The ProposalsThe proposals below will address the above issues by implementing the following:
• Narrow the width of East Acton Lane and construct a raised zebra crossing outside the King Fahad Academy and provide a shortened uncontrolled crossing point in the ‘service road’
• Move the inset perpendicular parking spaces near the school entrance onto the carriageway and provide seating on a new footway in its place
