For Kim Girouard, creating handcrafted jewelry lets her imagination run free, resulting in a process

that is playful and spontaneous, but tempered by an intuitive sense of balance. Even the most

asymmetrical designs have an equilibrium that makes them easy to wear. Most pieces of Kiki Bird

Jewelry are one-of-a-kind, and every whimsical twist of metal, each carefully placed accent, reveals

a bit of Kim’s creative journey as she touches saw to metal or hammer to rivet.

Kim uses only the highest quality materials––Vintaj® Natural Brass, Swarovski crystals, Czech glass

beads and interesting baubles from around the world, and further enhances them with assembly

techniques such as riveting and wire wrapping.

Having created jewelry since 2005, Kim’s discovered Vintaj® Brass at a local bead store. Intrigued by

the metal’s natural, earthy appearance, she was compelled to buy all the supplies she would need

to work with it. She entered one of her designs in a competition where she won first place.

Today, every piece of Kiki Bird Jewelry has Vintaj® Brass in one form or another. “I enjoy the

malleability and overall beauty of this material. It is the perfect foil for the beautiful beads and other

accents I collect.”

Kim lives and creates out of her home studio in historic Rockton, Illinois, a small village on the

beautiful Rock River. A former police officer and elementary school teacher, Kim has embraced the

creative life. True to her nature, she puts her heart and soul into each piece she creates. Her greatest

pleasure is hearing, “Is that a piece of Kiki Bird Jewelry?”
