Ray Irvine at Tincher Carnival

Meet Ray Irvine

You will find Ray Irvine running with the Special Olympics or helping outwith security at the 2009 Tincher School Carnival. Ray called Kids TalkRadio and we went over to Tincher to take a first hand look at theirfamous carnival. This is a fundraiser that makes a ton of money forthe school. You have to give a lot of credit to Mrs. Irvine. She is thePTA president and she plays a role in making this carnival a suppersuccess. It takes a great to team to pull off a great carnival. TincherSchool has a great team.

Ray is a computer expert. He works for the Long Beach Unified SchoolDistrict. Ray makes sure that the Long Beach School Districtscomputers stay in good working order. Ray Irvine has plans to helpstudents and adults learn new computer skills and to compete fortechnology related jobs in the community.

Good things are happening in Long Beach, Ifyou take the time to look you will find them.

Kid’s Talk Radio popped in to catch a Peace BuildersWorkshop at the Miller Family Health EducationCenter. Tracey Colunga, Program Coordinator, ChildCare and the Weed and Seed Steering Committeegreeted us. Tracey works out of the Department ofHealth and Human Services for the City of Long

Beach. Tracey was joined introduced me to Monica Andrews, Senior Director of Training for Peace Partners,Inc., the home of the Peace Builders Programs. The room was packed with volunteers. Everyone was on amission to learn the Peace Builders Program. I knew of this program first hand and it warmed my heart tosee this army of volunteers hitting the streets to turn around kids and save lives.
