The Sutherland Sharks would like to welcome the officials supporters and

players from the Blacktown City Football Club to Seymour Shaw today. All three grades have the promise of being highly entertaining with an abundance of skilful football on display. Blacktown are the current competition leaders and a very formidable opposition for the Sharks. However the Sharks had a great win against fourth placed Manly last week as we seek to climb the ladder in the second half of the season.

The young Sharks outfit had three debutantes last week with Robbie Watson, Harrison Quirk and Lachlan Everett all contributing to a fine Sutherland 2-1 victory. The goals came from Nathan Elasi and Tomohiro Kajiyama. Captain Nick Littler again led from the front with a outstanding defensive effort.

The under 20s continued their impressive run of success with another impressive performance to win 3-1. This is a very solid

unit with anyone of the line-up capable of making their mark in the first team in the near future. To have established players like Matthew Stewart, Nathan Denham and Tom Pappa as well as the other rising stars augres well for our future. A win today will put a real gap between the Sharks and the rest of the field.

The under 18s are also enjoying a run of success and had another convincing victory over Manly last week. Tom Woerndl had a fine game and capped that by backing up with an impressive appearance for the 20s. This will be another big test for the young Sharks.

Our juniors clubs tonight are from the Sutherland Association clubs of Bonnet Bay, Loftus, St Pats and Gwawley Bay. We look forward to seeing these under 9s playing in the breaks.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable night cheering on our beloved Sharks!

FIRST GRADE

Grant Lee notched his first win as Sutherland Sharks coach last round but will face a much

bigger challenge this week when Blacktown City comes to Seymour Shaw.

The Sharks shocked Manly United at Cromer park with Tomohiro Kajiyama and Nathan Elasi scoring twice in the second half to clinch the upset victory

Visiting side Blacktown will not want to give away much at all so the Sharks will need to give no less than their best to snatch another three points

Kajiyama will again be a key component in the Sharks attack with the midfielder in impressive form.

If he and the rest of the Sharks attack combine as they did last week they are in with a good shot to take points away from the clash.

Manly United FC 1 - Sutherland Sharks 2 at Cromer Park

It was the same old story for Manly United on Sunday afternoon in their 2-1 PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s defeat against Sutherland at Cromer Park.

Celebrating Heritage Round, the hosts were keen to put on a show, but once again poor finishing was their achilles heel.

A Brendan Cholakian goal had the home side in front after 25 minutes, but it was a lead which wouldn’t last.

Sutherland struck midway through the second half scoring twice in eight minutes courtesy of strikes from Tomohiro Kajiyama and Nathan Elasi.

A last ditch fightback from Manly wasn’t enough as Grant Lee’s Sutherland side collected all three points.

Blacktown City FC 2 - Hakoah Sydney City East FC 0 at Lilys Football Stadium

Blacktown City joined APIA Leichhardt Tigers at the top of the PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s table after a streetwise 2-0 victory over Hakoah Sydney City East at Lilys Football Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Mitchell Mallia’s sublime first half free-kick and a header from City skipper Zachary Cairncross helped the hosts build an unassailable 2-0 lead at the break.

Mark Crittenden’s side needed to ride their luck at times during the second half, with Hakoah denied twice by the post, Blacktown diligently ground their way to three points.

City trail the ladder-leading Tigers on goal difference with the Lambert Park outfit three goals ahead of the 2016 PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s champions on the competition table.

Hakoah remain rooted in mid-table after their run of four unbeaten games came to a halt at the hands of their Blacktown opponents.

UNDER 20s

Sutherland Sharks can extend their advantage at the top to nine points pending results

elsewhere with a win over second-placed Blacktown City at Seymour Shaw on Saturday’s early kick-off.

Nick Dimovski’s outfit continue to lead the way after beating rivals Manly United 3-1 at Cromer Park last weekend and will be well-primed for the arrival of John Carnevale’s Blacktown who returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Hakoah Sydney City East in round 12.

Prior to that win City had failed to score in their previous three matches and will need to be clinical in front of goal to stand a chance of upsetting the Sutherland applecart.

Another victory for Sutherland would cement their claim as championship favourites and put a serious dent in the premiership hopes of the chasing pack who have been unable to match the competition leaders so far.
