A Note from Rhonda Luttrell (Student

Wellbeing Officer)

We are definitely coming to the end of autumn, the trees are raining leaves. What glorious colours, and the weather has been amazing…but all that changes, and we are now on the verge of winter. Each season has its joys as well as the more difficult times, just like life really. We have our ups and our downs, but it’s the way we manage these changes that help us to cope with life and keep going each day. As parents, we always seek the best for our children, but there are times when they are hurt or angry or upset in some way, and we want to step in and stop their pain, but that’s not always possible, so we teach our children to be resilient and to manage the good times as well as the more challenging times where they come out as victors not victims. On Thursday 1st June, I will be facilitating a “Cuppa and Chat” time for parents, where we will discuss how we can help our children to be more resilient. Join me from 9am in the staff room where I will be sharing some of my own insights, as well as sharing each other’s ideas. I look forward to seeing you there.

Just a reminder that I work at the school on Monday and Thursday, 8.30am to 4pm. I can be contacted through the school office if you would like to speak with me about any wellbeing concerns you may have for your child. I am generally available in the staff room each Thursday from 9am if you would like to catch up with me personally to talk about my role here at Karoo Primary School. Regards, Rhonda Luttrell

RSPCA Million Paws Walk Friday 2nd June 2017 at Karoo Primary School

All students may wear free dress and bring a soft toy pet or soft toy with paws to school for the RSPCA Million Paws Walk. We will use the cross country track to go on a walk with our soft toy paws, just like the RSPCA Million Paws walk that is happening across Australia in May. The RSPCA Million Paws Walk raises money to fund the RSPCA’s critical work in the community, including the care of more than 28,000 animals entering RSPCA shelters each year and helps them to fight against animal cruelty.

Donations: Karoo Primary School is collecting items to support the RSPCA. Please bring a donation of either dry or canned dog food (not no-name brands), a blanket or towel (new or used), dog toy, dog treats or a gold coin to support this worthy cause. There will be a box at reception and representatives will collect items during the day.
