July 30, 2016 --- Dynamic Teen Company – Karnov conducted its Medical Mission program for Kariton Klasrum students at the Brgy. Sta. Lucia Covered Court, Novaliches, Quezon City. The event, which aimed to provide free medical service to beneficiaries, to explain the importance of health in their lives and to provide medical kits to beneficiaries catered to sixty-seven (67) kids from the locales of Sta. The group strongly upholds that hygiene and nutrition are mu-tually essential factors in getting the kids to love learning; thus, the advent of such program.

VOLUNTEERS DOCTORS AND NURSES WITH DTC-KARNOV

The program began with a general orientation of the volunteers as well as visitors, informing such about the goals of the event, the systems and pro-cedures to be followed, the sequence of the stations and the point persons in case of queries.

Registration followed shortly. The kids were grouped into their age levels for better facilitation. After they surren-dered their stubs, they proceeded to the waiting area to participate in the open-ing program. When the clock ticked, signaling the start of their check-up, the children first proceeded to the BMI station where data regarding their height and weight were gathered. All of these was made possible with the help of QBE volunteers and Barangay Health workers and headed by one of the DTC volunteers. Simultaneously, short lectures highlighting the benefits of eating healthy foods to that of junk foods was conducted to the kids who are in the waiting area. The lecturers from QBE who explained the abovementioned topic, also alluded to the distinctions between the three basic food groups, the Go, Grow, and Glow foods. Also, the parents of those kids es-pecially less than seven years old, and those with special cases, were called to accompany their child. Then, the check up and prescription were made. Five doctors generously devoted their time and expertise in helping the kids: Dr. Josefa Abainza, Dr. Catherine Duque-Lee, Dr. June Ngo-Leonen, Dr. Carla Panlasigui, and Dr. Haydee Pablo.

Dr. Josefa Abainza, the community doctor of Brgy. Sta. Lucia also advised all the parents to come in the barangay health office whenever their kids need medical assistance. At this point, the group wants to acknowledge the people who worked hand-in-hand with it in providing the aid and services to the kids: Our doctors, Dr. Josefa Abainza, Dr. Catherine Duque-Lee, Dr. June Ngo-Leonen, Dr. Carla Panlasigui, and Dr. Haydee Pablo together with all the volunteers and sponsors, QBE foundation and Barangay Health Office of Sta. KarNov’s Semi - Annual Team

Karnov conducted its first team build-

ing activity after a fresh success of

their Balik Eskwela Program last June

4, Saturday. The activity served as a

treat to the volunteers who actively

participated in the past few months of

Kariton Klasrum Klinik and Kantin

(K4) operation. It was a whole day

program composed of interactive

games, teamwork, lectures and of

course ----swimming!

John Paul Obinia (volunteer) choosing

what challenge he is going to do. The

game entitled "Patikim".

The main venue of the program is at

Santiago’s Resort in Valenzuela City.

However, the program assembly was

held at Karnov Headquarters in Nova-

liches, facilitated by Karnov Unit

Head Jake Fernandez and assisted by

their Treasurer Ryzan Tirona. A total

of 18 active volunteers have participat-

ed and they were divided into two

teams for the games.

They started the program right with a

devotion and a lecture entitled “The

YOUnique Team: Understanding Oth-

ers by Understanding You”. The topic

was also an echo of the conference at-

tended by the DTC Executives last

February at SM Aura. Afterwards, the

succeeding activities were conducted

at the resort.

The program proper started by

11:00 AM and resumed by 1:00

PM to give way for lunch. After

all the activities and lectures, all

volunteers were given time to

enjoy the place. The winners for

the games have received their

awards before leaving the resort.

LEAP (Learner's Educational Aid Pro-

gram) and K4 (Kariton Klasrum,

Kantin at Klinik) are two of the most

popular programs of Dynamic Teen

Company and just recently, both teams

have conducted a joint team building

that every participant surely enjoyed.

They were divided into three uniquely-

named teams and the said event was

spearheaded by DTC's refined leaders.

Bonding is always a goal in every team

building and I am certain that the objec-

tive has been met. Games and trivia

were prepared along with learnings that

the volunteers can take with them

throughout their lives.

Refreshed and Ready

DTC has always been very thankful for

its very dedicated volunteers. Hard

work, effort, time,and many other

things have been put in by these teens

to help less fortunate kids be one step

closer to a brighter future.

And this team building no

doubtedly helped our loving

volunteers to be refreshed and

be pumped to venture in another

year of voluntary work for the

betterment of our nation. To the

volunteers who are selflessly

helping: whatever job you do,

big or small, it's not insignifi-

cant. It is more than what you

think. DTC is more than grate-

ful to have each and everyone

of you in it's family.

Tulak Kalusugan : ” Malusog na Pangangatawan para sa Kinabukasan”

Some might state that it’s cliche to say

“a healthy body is a happy body”. But

in Dynamic Teen Company, they make

sure that their beneficiaries and volun-

teers are healthy and happy. And

what better way to do it than with the

organization’s annual Medical Mission.

Volunteers gathered in the organiza-

tion’s Recreational Center bright and

early last April 30, 2016 to get a

head start with the preparations of the

event. Doctors and nurses were present

to conduct the tests for the kids and the

volunteers and they were enthusiastic

as ever.

One of the priorities of DTC is to en-

sure that the health of every kid is be-

ing taken care of. DOSE (Drop-Out

and Out-of-School Edification Pro-

gram),

Each year, a medical mission is being conducted to identify the nutri-

tional status ofLEAP (Learner's Educational Aid Program), KHSH

(Kariton Senior High School) Students and the volunteers. Check ups

were provided to monitor the condition of the kids as well as medicine

& vitamins to ensure that their ailments will be attended to.

Balik Eskwela - Kar Nov

The program has been organized

to be lively as any outreach as an

encouragement to be active and to

live healthy. Although it is no secret

that kids of this generation are

more prone to sickness due to lack

of exercise and the absence of

nutritious food, Dynamic Teen Com-

pany guarantees that with their

programs and events, these kids

will learn the value of playing out-

side and being fit.

Chest check up by our volunteer doctor.

Dynamic Teen Company – KarNov’s first

ever BalikEskwela Program was held in

Metro Manila last June 4, Saturday.

BalikEskwela is originally a project of

Dynamic Teen Company – Cavite for

several years now. It was replicated by

a fresh born unit under the organization

named Kariton Novaliches (KarNov).

The said program was conducted in San

Gabriel Elementary School Covered

Court.

School supplies distribution with Brgy.

Sta. Lucia council and QBE.

This was to support the beneficiar-

ies’ school needs from Kariton

Klasrum Klinik and Kantin (K4) repli-

cation in Brgy. Sta. Lucia, Quezon

City. Along with the QBE Founda-

tion, they also piloted a Summer

Clinic in the morning session. They

showcased the talents of the kids

and volunteers through sing and

dance lessons. The project accom-

modated 64 Kariton Klasrum stu-

dents, wherein 19 of them were out-

of-school.

They were given school items includ-

ing bags coming from collective con-

tribution of KarNov, Barangay Sta.

Lucia and QBE Foundation. Aside

from school supplies, KarNov volun-

teers also attached words of en-

couragements in their notebooks to

do their utmost efforts when they go

back in school.

KarNov appreciated all the efforts

of the sponsors by giving tokens to

the,. The program was also attend-

ed by the Barangay Council of Sta.

Lucia including Hon. William R.

Bawag, BCPC Focal person Ms. Dig-

na Nebrida and Kgd. Wendy Ati-

enza who is in-charge for the Com-

mittee on Education and QBE volun-

teers. Lastly, before the program

has officially ended 18KarNov vol-

unteers were also given school sup-

plies including college and high

school volunteers. A total of 82 ben-

eficiaries received school provisions

from the BalikEskwela program.

Building Up One Another

The first group as they run for the next clue

Reaching out the youth and the unprivileged are not the only goals of

Dynamic Teen Company, but also to produce competitive and selfless

leaders. That is why, DTC’s Board of Trustees, Executive Committee,

and other leaders had their quarterly teambuilding at Trishia’s Resort,

Cavite City, April 30, 2016.

To know the members of the group is the first step in building up a team. The facilitator, Klarence Baptista, gave

a test to the leaders that revealedtheir characteristics and their ”YOUniqueness”. This will help each and everyone

to understand other’s behavior and to deal with it in a rightful manner. Fun-filled activities were also played by the

leaders; the first game was Amazing Race wherein the two groups went to three different spots to get the next

clue. Everyone sweat for this activity and it really boosted their motivation and drived them to unlock the message

which was the DTC’s Vision. The next game was the waterball which was to shoot balls in the pail as many as they

can within the given time. The sole purpose of this game was to reveal the “team player” characteristic in each

member. Each of us has its own personality, but it should not be an obstacle in reaching the success for the team.

The game was followed by illustrating the leaders’ vision for the group; giving their ideas of what they can see in

the future .The last game was Dali Tikman Mo where all of the members of the group crossed the pool and ate

what is inside the cup before answering the question. Commitment of each member was seen in this game. No

one knows what was inside the cup but for the sake of the team’s success they were able to eat those foods. The

night ended with the awarding of the best team and of course a fun swimming time enjoying one other’s compa-

ny. Indeed, a group should work hand in hand; with a Driven heart in serving, despite of different personalities

one should be willing to be the Team player of the group, and of course, has the undying Commitment for the

team’s success.

Dynamic Teen Company conducted its annual school supplies-giving last May 22, Saturday.

Balik Eskwela has been running for more than 10 years now giving encouragements and empowering the youth especially the organization's beneficiaries to love learning. School supplies were given to students who were able to comply to the school report card requirement and are in good standing status as students in organization's pro-grams Kariton Klasrum, Learner's Educational Aid Program (LEAP), Drop-out and Out-of-School Edification Program (DOSE) and the volunteers.

There were 32 unschooled kids from Kariton Klasrum that will be moving up to formal school this coming school year. Twenty nine (29) students had been given school supplies under the tutorial program LEAP and 18 students had been given under the Kariton Open High School or DOSE Program.

Aside from school supplies-giving, students of LEAP who were able to achieved honors in their their schools were also recognized. These students were given medals and were invited on stage with their parents as an exam-ple and encouragement to other students to strive harder for the upcoming school year. In the second part of the program, a total of 25 volunteers were appreciated and were also given school supplies as a support in their educa-tion. Glenis May Peñaflorida gave the volunteers a short message as encouragement for the selfless efforts of the volunteers.

A total of 104 beneficiaries were reached out of the program Balik Eskwela. The organization was grateful to all sponsors who supported the said event.

Philippines: Looking forward with Kariton Klasrum Program

K4 Santa Lucia

KarNov is the latest expansion of DTC in Metro Manila and was funded by QBE (Queensland

Insurance, Bankers' and Traders' Insurance Company, and Equitable Life and General Insur-

ance Co) Foundation.

The site’s name is K4 Sta. Lucia and the launch was conducted last April 20, 2016 participated

by the Barangay Chariman William R. Bawag, BCPC head Ms. Digna Nebrida, Committee on

Education Ms. Wendy Atienza, San Gabriel Elementary School representative Ms. Emmy Gacu-

la, and DTC’s CEO Randie Salonga and the volunteers from DTC as well.

As of today, there are 32 active volunteers that ranges from High School to College. What

makes this site special is that there are parent-volunteers who are as spontaneous as the

youth and are ready to help make a change in the lives of these children K4 kids excited to start their session

To further the expansion of Kariton Klasrum Program throughout the Philippines, a Conduct of Kariton Klasrum Summmit was held at Tanza Oasis Hotel, Tanza Cavite by the Department of Education(DepEd) last August 29-31, 2016. The attendees of the Summit were Social Workers from the Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) and different Regional Directors within the Philippines. Mr. Efren Peñaflorida, Jr. (Kuya Ef) and Mr. Harnin Manalaysay both shared their experiences since the beginning of Kariton Klasrum. Kuya Ef also shared “The HEART of a Volunteer” and introduced Michael Advincula, a former street gangster and thief who became a Kariton Klasrum student in 2003,

.

They are scheduled to do outreaches twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays) and every Saturday, QBE sends 25 volunteers to help in the operation. At

present, the number of active students in the operation is 57 and 30 of those kids are OSY or Out-of-school youth.

The reason why the replication was done in that location is because A.L.S. (Alternative Learning System) conducted a mapping of the area and based on

the results, Sta. Lucia is one of the barangays that has a high number of OSY. It is also one of the most depressing areas in Quezon City which gets hit by

typhoons because it is near Talluhan River.

DTC is excited to work with their new volunteers and this as an opportunity to expand the organization’s mission and vision to help decrease the number

of out-of-school youth and unschooled children. This expansion in Quezon City is just one of the small steps in making a great nation.

Dynamic Teen Company treasurer in 2008 and currently an Organization Facility Administrator of the group. DepEd’s Assistant Secretary Tonisito Umali discussed Developing an Efficient and Effective Partnership Pro-gram. In this event also, Regional Directors deliberated the Deped’s Implementing Guidelines for Kariton Klasrum Program throughout the country.

Undersecretary Dina Ocampo discussed the details and preparation for the Kariton Klasrum Program during the last day of the summit.

D T C is Back to Basics on its 19th!

Everyone ready to dig in to the delicious boodle fight!

After a month-long preparation, the day had come for the volunteers to be campers!

A camping-themed program was conducted in celebration of the organization's 19th Anniversary held in Amadeo, Cavite.

A cloudy Sunday afternoon welcomed the volunteers as they trekked in the short trail going to the campsite. As the teams gathered,

places had been assigned for each team's camp and house rules were discussed.

After the team had set-up their tents, classic games stirred up the competitiveness of the campers. Sikyo, Tug of War and Calling-calling released the inner kid of the volunteers and played their heart out. A simple yet delicious dinner was served to the teams to be re-

energized.

Camping will never be complete without the classic bonfire. Karnov volun-

teers heated-up the night with their dance number with the song entitled,

"Serve to Love". Everyone also sang along with Kuya Ef as he lead the vol-

unteers to a song entitled, "Pass it On". Encouragements poured out

through an open mic as the volunteers shared their heart to everyone

which made the listener's heart burned with passion.

But wait there's more!

Day one was already an absolute fun but day two had been made with so

much fun, too. Again, games and challenges were played with full competi-

tiveness and enjoyment. Triple S was also discussed as the heart of the activity - Serve everyone, Secure each other no matter what, and Support

each other all the time. A reminder for everyone that no matter what, they

can always count on each other as we are a team. A scrumptious boodle

fight lunch for everyone wrapped-up the activity.

Thank you to all the people who supported an anniversary activity that is alwatys worth remembering. Cheers to more years of pushing for positive

change!

DTC Members poses for the last time before the camp experience ends.
