Student Leadership Team
Our School Leaders Induction Assembly is a highlight on our school calendar. We are grateful to
the family members who attended to celebrate and support our students. The students of the
NPS leadership team play a vital part in our school. They are role models to the younger students,
they are involved in the decision making processes and the fundraising activities for our various
charities. The leadership team members all play a special role within their responsibility areas.
Being a school leader is a great honour and a privilege so maintaining our RHR values is vital to being a successful
team member.
The staff are looking forward to working closely with our leadership team, congratulations to: Sophie Woods, Zac

Kindergarten 2018
I would like to welcome our 2018 Kindergarten class to the Narromine Public School family. Mrs Krueger and Miss
O’Dea are extremely excited and happy to be working with the children and their families in this their first year of
school. The teachers are very pleased with the way the students have settled into their classes and their learning.
We are also grateful to Mrs Hamilton and her team for the very smooth transition to school facilitated in 2017, this
has supported the children in their readiness and familiarity with our setting.
The first day of Kindergarten is a very special day in the lives of our families. At NPS we believe that the first day of
Kindergarten is the start of many, many other special family milestones, events and memories and we as a school
are looking forward to the greatness that these little people, our 2018 Kindergarten class, will grow.
New Staff to NPS
We have new casual teachers at NPS and we would like to welcome them to our staff; Miss Danielle Rapone (5/6S)
and Mrs Deb Henley(MC). Both teachers will be with us until the department appointed staff are placed in the near
future, while Miss Alyce Rhodes has put her next adventure on hold to stay with us while we await the new
appointment to 3/4P. We are also welcoming Mrs Sarah Atchison who will be working with Mrs Turnbull on 5/6TA,
Mrs Atchison will be on class Tuesday and Wednesday while Mrs Turnbull mentors staff and students across Stage 3.

Kindergarten Transition 2018
Kindergarten Transition 2018 has commenced with Mrs Hamilton and Mrs
Newbigging welcoming our school readiness groups on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays in the Kinderstart room. This program is designed to enhance
the early learning experiences for our students, building in school
awareness through play in preparation for Kindergarten 2019.
Mrs Hamilton and Mrs Newbigging were very energised by the
participation and enthusiasm of the children in their first week of the
program and are looking forward to watching our little ones grow and develop as they discover life at NPS.
Cancer Council NSW Healthy Lunch Box website for families
The task of packing healthy school lunch your kids will love is now easier with Cancer Council NSW’s new Healthy
Lunch Box website (healthylunchbox.com.au).
We know that 93% of children don’t eat enough vegetables and 22% are overweight.
The website includes recipes and tips on how to include more fruit and veg in the family’s diet and is complete with
an interactive lunch box builder to involve the kids, at home, or on the move with a smartphone or tablet.
The website has been launched as part of Cancer Council NSW’s Eat It To Beat It program which runs free sessions
and workshops for parents of primary aged school children, helping them to understand why fruit and vegetables
are so important.
Visit healthylunchbox.com.au to pack a quick and healthy lunch box today!

New Staff to NPS
Sarah Atchison 5/6TA
My name is Sarah Atchison previously Browning. I am very excited to be working part-time
at Narromine Public School every Tuesday and Wednesday on 5/6TA, job sharing with Amanda
Turnbull. I love being back at Narromine Public as this is where I completed my schooling along
with the rest of my family. I have taught full time in Public Education for the past 12 years. Last
year my husband and I bought a local business Country Traders Home and Life and this is what
keeps me busy the rest of the week. I look forward to working with the school and the
community.
Danielle Rapone – 5/6S
Hi, my name is Danielle Rapone and I am currently teaching 5/6S. I have just completed university in Canberra and I am excited to join the team at Narromine Public School for my first year of teaching. My hometown is Griffith NSW, so I am excited to be back teaching in a rural area. I enjoy my downtime on the weekends as I socialise over a meal with my friends. I have had a great start to the year in Narromine thus far and I am excited to see where the year takes me.
Deborah Henley - MC
Hi I am Deborah Henley. I have 5 years teaching
experience. I love painting and drawing. I am
thrilled to be in the MC class because I know it has
a few budding artists. I also play ultimate frisbee
(yes it is a sport!). I am hoping to go to the
Australian Division Two Nationals with my female
team the 'Inland Gypsies'. Narromine Public School
has been a lovely, welcoming community so far and I am excited to see
what this year will hold.

Sport
Yr 3-6 School Sport
Students in Years 3-6 are expected to wear their sports
uniform every Friday. For Term 1 on Fridays Year 3-6 students
will be going to the pool for sport. NPS values the impact
participation in sport has on student learning. NPS has
budgeted to support this activity and therefore, pool entry will
be covered by the school. Students need to bring their
swimmers, towel, sunscreen and hat. It is expected that
students participate every week as sport is a compulsory
component of the curriculum. If for some reason one week
they are unable to participate please send a note to their
classroom teacher explaining why they cannot participate.
NPS 2018 Swimming Carnival
The school swimming carnival will be held on FRIDAY 16
February and students will nominate for their events this
week. All students are to come to school first and then walk to
the pool in their house groups. Students are encouraged to
come dressed in their sporting house colours. All students in
Years 3-6 will attend the swimming carnival, as well as
participating Year 2 students that are turning 8 years old this
year. Year 2 students turning 8 this year that are not strong
swimmers will not be eligible to race. These students will stay
at school and attend class as per normal.
It is important that parents are aware that for students to
enter racing events at the carnival they must have strong
swimmer ticked on their swimming note and they must be in
that group for sport as well. If your child is in Years 3-6 and not
a strong swimmer, they will be able to participate in novelty
events in the pool that will be held throughout the day.
Students are to bring swimmers, towel, hat, sunscreen, plenty
of water and either a packed lunch or money for the canteen.
The Gobondery/NARRAF swimming carnival will be held on
Friday 23 February at Warren and the Western carnival will be
on Friday 16 March.

Life Education
Life Education will be visiting our school in Week 4 of Term 1.
Life Education works in partnership with schools to deliver
PDHPE outcomes. Research shows that well designed schools-
based health education programs play an important role in
helping children develop the skills needed to make informed
decisions. The Life Education Van allows children to explore
creative and collaborative learning in a space that is entirely
different from a traditional classroom. Children are encouraged
to participate and learn through engaging education
experiences, which we believe bring out the best in all children.
Specially trained educators present vital health and safety messaging through tactile and multisensory activities.
Each session is designed to intrigue and excite children of all ages, which captures their imagination and has a lasting
impact! Life Education is FREE for our students; NPS covers the costs involved to ensure that ALL of our children
participate in this fantastic educational experience.
PBL Update
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a comprehensive, integrated whole school approach to
student wellbeing and behaviour. PBL is a process that supports school leadership teams to
create positive learning environments that enable student learning and wellbeing. Students who
show our core expectations (RHR) Respect, Honesty and Responsibility, earn points each day.
Students can receive a maximum of 25 points per week. All students start on green level and aim
to reach blue. The following is how points are needed to reach red and blue level this term: 248
for BLUE and 236 for RED. Please note Kindergarten are not part of the point system until Term 4.
More information will be going home with students next week, in regards to points and rewards.
