Kindergarten - Claire RossAll students received a note on Friday regarding Intensive Swimming testing on Friday. Students are required to bring swimmers, towel, rash vest and money to attend the pool on Friday. Please do not come dressed in swimmers as we are required to get dry and dressed after our time at the pool. After testing, if your child is eligible for the intensive swimming program they will receive a note this Friday as the intensive swimming program begins on Monday November 14. Please see me at school if you have any queries. This week we will conclude our sound introductions. This week we are investigating ‘er’ as in mother and will then look into two syllable words for example; into and outside. Please ensure your child is completing their news plan in preparation for their news day. We have had minimal students completing this and this heavily impacts on our speaking and listening activities. This week students will be completing learning goals in class. These goals will be discussed in class and will be something that your child will work towards for the week. Have a great week.

Year 1 / Year 2Emma Byles / Sarah SheatherWOW already week 5! Swimming assessments will take place this Friday at the pool. It is a great opportunity to observe the swimming abilities of all children and guide intensive swimming groupings which focus on developing the necessary skills for water confidence and survival. This week our spelling focus is air=chair and revision of consonant blends and in maths we are continuing to build our knowledge of multiplication and division. This week will also involve every child presenting their speech to the class. I know many children have been planning, preparing and practicing their speeches and most are very excited to share their hard work.* Home Reading (10 minutes), Spelling Activities, Speech Presentation, Maths Challenges*

Year 2 / Year 3Jolonna Brand / Justin GrahamIt is fantastic to witness 2/3 trying a new independant activities model during literacy. It is designed to help students be accountable for their own learning. Mrs Brand has done a fantastic job setting this up.We have continued to enjoy using whiteboards during our learning. Even our more hesitant participants are enjoying success on our whiteboards. Each morning we have been setting a daily goal aligned with one of our three PBL values. We then reflect on it in the afternoon.Year 3 enjoyed joining in with band practice today and learnt some great rythym playing the bongo drums.

Year 4 / Year 5 - Mary ListonYear 5 are away on excursion and are having a lovely time. Year 4 will also be having a nice time at school with a variety of activities as well as some of their usual learning taking place. Year 4 students will have school as normal during excursion and class will take place for them.Home Learning will not go out this week due to so many away so enjoy the time off and remember to practise timetables.Band: Our annual band concert will take place on Tuesday November 29th, from 10.30 to 11.30. Students are busy practising and working on their ensemble pieces together, which is terrific to see their cooperation and enthusiasm.

Year 5 / Year 6 - Joanne MalmoThe students have created some extraordinary visual representations and games using their knowledge of the discovery of gold in Australia. After our excursion, we will hold an exhibition for families and friends.Congratulations to Genevieve and Georgia who came third in the Rotary spelling competition yesterday. We look forward to sharing our stories and knowledge on our return this Friday.

Year 5/6 enjoying the paddle steamer ride.

24 WAYS TO SAY I LOVE YOU TO YOUR CHILD

PART 2 (MORE NEXT WEEK)* When your child is resisting bedtime, try to remember what it was like to be little and wanting to stay up. Tell your child you understand how he/she feels.* Write a love note and leave it some place your child will discover it. If your child isn’t reading yet, read it out loud together.* Put little notes in their lunch box. They don’t always have to say “I love you.” If you have to be away from your child at all, this is a really nice tradition.*Tell a silly joke to your child, and then when he/she repeats it back to you a million times over the next several months, KEEP LAUGHING!

Intensive Swimming: The intensive swim program will be offered again this year and all students from K-Year 4 will be tested on their ability to swim a lap of the pool on Friday 11th November. Students in Year 5 and 6 will be tested whilst on excursion. Remember this is not stroke correction, it just checks that a child can competently swim 25m of the pool. This means all students will need a pool membership or can pay each day. There will be a cost involved for all students participating due to the hire of the pool; this information will be forwarded when we know the numbers participating. Cost of instruction is provided free. All students will receive a note on Friday if they are to participate in the program later this week.

Sports Assembly: This year our Sports Assembly will take place on Friday 18th November at 2pm and we are delighted to welcome a past pupil who has participated at national level in her area of sport. Montana Ross will be our guest speaker and she will speak about her career as a Polo Cross Player and her recent experiences at the National Championship in Albury earlier this year. We look forward to hearing all about competing at such a high level.
