It is with great sadness that I extend condolences on behalf of our school to Mr and Mrs Edwards and their daughter Amelia on the passing of their son and brother Hugh. I know our school will do all it can to support the Edward’s family and friends during this very difficult time. Funeral details are not yet available however I will inform our school community when appropriate and I am sure many of our students and staff will wish to attend to pay their respects to Hugh. This morning our students have met in Year groups and have been offered counselling and will continue to be supported during the days, weeks and months ahead. I have attached a letter for parents which includes details about other support services outside of the school that are also available and strategies to manage the grieving process. Please contact me at school if you have any questions. Page 1 HSC Exams This week our senior students will commence their HSC exams. We wish them the very best for their exams and remind students that they must ensure they are on time and do not miss their exams. Contact the school immediately if there is a problem. Our staff will be available for senior students should they need assistance in the final preparations for their exams. Japanese Excursion Last term on the 27th September the Japanese 9/10 Elective class went to the Zen X restaurant in Albury to experience Japanese cuisine and practice our language (and chopstick) skills. We used our skills that we learnt over the term to order a variety of Japanese meals. The meals were tateno oishii: karee katsu, sushi, ramen, miso soup and other things. Using our skills in an authentic situation was enlightening and tanoshii! Thanks to Mrs Toogood for driving the bus and Ms Gillis for accompanying us.Alana Willis and Elina Rattray Motorbike CourseOn 24th and 25th September, the senior Primary Industries class with Mrs Toogood attended the Wagga Tafe Primary Industries Centre to complete the practical components of 2 units of study: Operate Quad bikes and Operate 2 wheel motor bikes. Several enjoyable hours were spent riding where students learnt many new skills on handling bikes safely and confidently. They also learnt basic maintenance and care of motorbikes.
