The Project “Technology and Methodology at the Service of Education and Citizenship” was created due to a range of common needs felt by the four schools involved, which Educational Project aims at the need to overcome some difficulties and indicates some organizational aspects to be improved. Each school has its own key-competences, which can result in a very positive strength, contributing to the correction of the aspects that need to be improved.

The general objectives of this Project are: To overcome the difficulties identified: to increase the students’ motivation; combat the school dropout; create innovative pedagogi’cal practices; provide the group of teachers with creative competences; give an answer to the educational challenges of the 21st century; promote the school’s internationalization.

Growing the Market in Accessible

Tourism

GROWMAT

Center: CENTRO DE FORMACIÓN DE ADMINISTRACIÓN Y HOSTELERÍA S.L., CDEAContact: MARIJO IRASTORZA INSAUSTIE-mail: [email protected] website:

http://growmat.eu/

Currently more than million citizens in the European Union are aged between 55 and 80 years, representing about 25% of the total population. This change in demographics is increasing tourism demand which opens new and emerging markets. Recessions tend to hit younger workers harder than older. Indeed, EU youth unemployment is 24%, twice as high as the adult jobless rate.

Nowadays, self-employment is often seen as a way out of unemployment. Many young people embark on entrepreneurship, with varying degrees of success. DG Enterprise and Industry (DG-ENTR) in 2012-2013 built a comprehensive picture of Accessible Tourism in the European Union. This research convinced the partners that there was an enormous potential to grow the market in Accessible Tourism, giving much needed work to young people, providing new business opportunities to new and existing entrepreneurs.

Developing Life and Employability

competences through mobility

LIFE ONLINE

Center: CEBANC, Politeknika TxorierriContact: Marijo Irastorza InsaustiKepa LarrondoE-mail: [email protected]@txorierri.netProject website:

http://lifeonline.education/

There is increasing demand for international skills suited to the global economy. Employers recognize that mobilities can provide more internationalized workers with new approaches to new working methods, better language skills, cultural awareness and understanding of the economic profile of the sector from a global perspective.

The project will develop a new on-line learning programme on employability and entrepreneurship, design curricula and learning materials, built on existing good practices - piloted with target groups - teachers/Trainers and young people. E-learning as a methodology is relatively under-utilised but is seen as an innovative medium to prepare young people for the world of work.

This project seeks to close this gap harnessing digital technologies to deliver employability/entrepreneurship skills to encourage young people to broaden their employment prospects.

Mainstreaming Student Entreneurship

MASTER

Center: CEBANCContact: MARIJO IRASTORZA INSAUSTIE-mail: [email protected] website:

www.studentstartup.how

Europe needs more entrepreneurial citizens: creative, confident individuals who innovate to solve problems and convert ideas into value across enterprises, organizations and the public sector. The entrepreneurship support system is increasingly complex and those VET teachers/trainers whose students have promising start up ideas are often unsure how to cultivate this, or refer students for further support outside their own institution.

Objectives:

• Develop a needs and opportunities analysis of integrated, cross sector approach to student entrepreneurship education in the VET sectors.

• Create 5 Regional Alliances

• Develop and pilot test a multi-channel communication and capacity building campaign to provide with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate aspects of entrepreneurship education into all subjects and disciplines.

• Develop a Student Entrepreneurship Support Toolkit and pilot its activities.

• ●Widely disseminate project outputs.

Technology for Assisting Seniors

TECHSenior

Center: CENTRO DE FORMACIÓN DE ADMINISTRACIÓN Y HOSTELERÍA S.L., CDEAContact: MARIJO IRASTORZA INSAUSTIE-mail: [email protected] website:

http://techsenior.eu/

TECHSenior Populations around the world are rapidly ageing. Economic development, improved lifestyles, advances in healthcare and medicine, including reduced infant mortality, have resulted in a continuous increase in life expectancy across Europe during the last century. This process has been going on for longer in Europe than in most other parts of the world, placing the EU-28 among the world leaders for life expectancy. According to Eurostat, life expectancy at birth in the EU-28 was estimated at 80.6 years in 2013. This project will develop a training program based on the concept of “Independent living” that will make more old people able to live a more autonomous life.

2 courses will be developed:

• It will involve human elements of teaching and training, using methods to engage older persons.

• E-learning program as a reference which will provide ongoing support.

This project aims to change the learning methodology in vocational education training in order to prepare qualified workers with transversal skills and achieve the European Framework of Key Competences defined in 2006. Project Based Learning (PBL) is a learning approach in which students try to solve the problems they may encounter in their lives in a scenario context by linking them with different disciplines in the classroom environment.

The consortium members, from Turkey, Portugal, Lithuania, Italy and Spain, aim at applying the PBL approach as a creative way, establishing the bases, such as, material, basic curriculum, training teachers from different countries and promoting the exchange and innovative ideas in VET.

E-(m)PACT project is about Healthcare Education (HC), simulation and media embedded. HC education has always been a challenge because of the dynamics of the work force, the different training needs, competences and professional levels. Students cannot practice their skills directly on the beneficiaries of their services as they are human beings, often in health condition; thus the importance of this project.

• 1. to improve the quality of education in the field of HC by delivering tools and guidance for the trainers and students on how to implement and work with simulation.

• 2. to create a model for the development and use of tutorials and deliver a set of sample courses as tutorials.

• 3. to foster the exchange of good practices and expertise by organizing common learning and training activities.

Following the teacher training, 2 courses will be developed:

• It will involve human elements of teaching and training, using methods to engage older persons.

• E-learning program as a reference which will provide ongoing support.

Technology continues to dominate much of our daily lives. To be able to compete worldwide, Europe needs more highly skilled technicians. We need to use the talents we have available, especially the talents of women. The current low participation of women in STEM fields is a problem for most European countries.

In the Erasmus+ KA2 project GirlsTech this theme is addressed. Eight countries share their knowledge to improve their own policies. The project is not about developing a new universal tool, but to focus on peer learning activities, to find out which approaches might be suitable for the participating countries.

We observe significant developments in the welfare and health technology area. At the same time, we are facing the paradox that investments are only used marginally in the Western world. Experts point out that we are in a situation where the medical-technological latitude is being overtaking by the financial latitude. We can do much more technologically than the budgets and the political will allow.

Perhaps this is the reasons why we observe initial, enthusiastic investments in hardware, while a lot of welfare technology remains unused in care facilities, training centres or home care units. Thus, we observe significant investments in hardware and well as human competences, but in spite of many good initiatives, there is a major problem in connection with implementation. Many technology investments are neither really put to practical use nor integrated into the practical care work. We observe good education and training of the healthcare employees, which is not turned into real competences and better services for the citizens based on practice changes in the workplaces, because the organisation is not geared to render useful and use the increase in knowledge.

The project aims to share learning and good practice amongst European partners to support Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) operating within the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) sectors to be bolder on gender equality. Evidence shows that greater diversity in the workplace leads to sustainable and inclusive growth and improved productivity and performance. However, SMEs report common challenges to developing more inclusive workplaces include time, resource, access to expertise and awareness of effective practices.

The project aims to identify common barriers and associated interventional strategies that have proven to be most effective for improving gender equality in organisations at various stages of engagement. In order to achieve this the project will deliver an evidence based self assessment toolkit, best practice guides and blended learning training solutions to over 2000 participants. A 10% increase in women’s participation in the project stakeholder population is targeted.

The App.Mod.E project proposes an integrated scheme for the development of entrepreneurial mindset, skills and competences by students that are doing their apprenticeship.

The project plan combines the need to promote apprenticeship training and acquisition of vocational skills needed in the labour market, with the need to support the development of entrepreneurial skills.

The apprenticeship model for the development of entrepreneurial mindset and skills uses an innovative methodology of problem-based learning, including gamification elements. The methodology is based on a real problem and challenges that the company faces and the apprentice has to find a solution to respond to that challenge.

The present project addresses a common European need related to the lack of qualified staff within technical and engineering professional areas, especially women. It also intends, indirectly and in the future, to increase labour market relevance of VET courses, specially attracting girls into more technical VET areas so that a balance of gender is also achieved.

ENGINE4F supports an “Awareness > Action Plan” methodology in the first two years and the study of the impact in the third year of its application, followed by the development of a set of activities, separated by area, related to STEM subjects and to be implemented in Sciences, Maths, Chemistry and Physics classes, as a way to complement them and to enhance student’s motivation and predisposition for learning.

Young people entrepreneurship skills development possibilities

Nowadays, it is essential to find transition from learning facts to acquiring real life skills which will prepare young people for life and motivate to study.

The schools involved in the project have different experience in developing young people entrepreneurial skills and in approaches to career education.

The schools work together on a cooperation model: school – municipality council – entrepreneurs. An important aspect – students while participating in project activities investigate entrepreneurship environment and job market.

The project intends to involve all subject teachers, not only economics and social science teachers, as entrepreneurial skills are developed in various situations and every teacher can contribute.

The main result – informal study tool – learning platform on Moodle with a certification possibility “Young people, Entrepreneurship skill development possibilities”.

The project aims at developing and piloting a new blended-learning model that will allow VET organisations to offer courses that better meet the needs and demands of their learners and employers. Online learning has the potential to play a key role in bringing about this change and in enabling management, teachers and learners to redesign the existing provision model to one that is better fit for purpose.

The project will focus on moving a number of existing courses online over a two-year period, so Partner organisations can implement a blended-online learning experience for their learners. The purpose of undertaking this activity is to enhance access and provide learners with greater choice and flexibility in terms of what they learn and how they learn.

WORKSAFE

Developing and implementing a WorkSafe Toolbox and WorkSafe Online Training Course to be used within work based learning within the fields of metal work and construction.

Teachers within the technical fields and especially teachers within construction and metal work have raised their concerns when it comes to work safety in companies that receive students/apprentices for work based learning. The mentoring teachers find it difficult to address this issue with the employers/work mentors as they don’t want to be considered as being to interfering. They also feel that they don’t know how to address the issue in a professional and correct manner.

The aims of Worksafe are to:

• Collect, compare and clarify common standards relating to work safety and point out what standardsare unique for a specific country

• Create a WorkSafety Toolbox for metal work and house building that can be used by students, teachers and work mentors before, during and after a work placement.

• Create an online worksafety mentoring course.

The GRIT project aims at developing interaction practices during the work placements / work-based learning periods between all the three parties (the student, the school and the work place). The goal of the more frequent and better interaction is to improve both the learning outcomes as well as to support the personal growth and competences of the participants. For the educational institutions it is extremely important to stay in touch with changing needs on job markets as the schools should develop education accordingly, in line with the trends.

The GRIT project is both cross-sectoral and cross-cultural: the project members represent both higher education as well as vocational education institutes and come from Finland, Belgium, Estonia and Spain. We will experiment different kinds of digital communication tools inside the work placement triangle. Service Design Thinking as a development tool brings new insights and contents into the interaction between people and organizations.

Beehives

The aim of Beehives is to Boost European Exchange on HVET and Employer Involvement on Education structures in order to strengthen the Strategic Partnership Triangle. The consortium expects that the project will strengthen HVET all over Europe.

The partners believe that the Higher VET sector is a confused policy area in many member countries with HVET offered in several structurally separate sectors, (HE, PHE, VET, CVET) with limited permeability and, in many countries, with limited progression opportunities.

The Beehives project is designed to address cooperation and collaboration barriers in the Strategic Partnership Triangle - Institutions, Employers and Students - to contribute to the development of skills relevant to labour market needs and equip students with the knowledge and skills relevant for their employability, entrepreneurship and personal development.
