What’s happening to the climate?

The planet is getting warmer and warmer and we are going towards an increase in the average temperature of the globe.

At the end of this century, it will increase up to 4-5 degrees centigrade .

This increase in temperature is due to the constant growth and concentration of greenhouse gas emissions such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide.

Our planet is warming and will continue to heat up

Climate change in Italy The alarm is particularly

serious for our country . According to present temperature data, Italy is warming faster than the global average and the other countries on our planet. In addition the frequency of floods, whirlwinds and earthquakes is increasing more and more.

The human race is responsible for climate changes Glaciers melting is an evident and dramatic example of

the climate changes. • What is going to happen in the future? • Since the second half of the XIX century to 2007, the Earth temperature

has increased of almost 1 degree centigrade. • In 2007 the carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, reached the

record level of 384 parts for million. • The hottest ten years have been registered recently.

The climate has always changed in the long history of the Earth for :

a. Astronomic causesb. Geological causes c. Anthropic causes

Carbon dioxide→ increase of the greenhouse gas concentration

Within a few centuries, we’ll input into the atmosphere all the organic carbon that has been stored in the sediments during hundreds of millions of years.

CLIMATE CHANGES AFFECT ALL ECOSYSTEMS AND THE HUMAN BEINGS. IF WE DON’T CHANGE OUR LIFESTYLES, DAMAGES CAN BE VERY SERIOUS.
