June 4th 2017 Citadelle Dinant- Ile D’yvoir-Yvoir

Our convenor Wallonia, Jean-Paul Hay, has again made a wonderful program.At 10.00, all participants were ready at the entrance of the téléphérique, next to the Dinant cathedral. A few minutes later it went straight up to reach the entrance of the citadel in Dinant a few minutes later. A very interesting visit that gave participants a glimpse of defense techniques. Restored, collapsed trenches gave a true sense of how soldiers had to survive during the First World War.While the participants enjoyed the very good explanation of the guide, Robin Huygen and Liliane Bergiers

were busy making everything ready in the Ile d’Yvoir for the BBQ. At 12.00 all participants were in Yvoir. Everyone was still waiting for René Hay, father of Jean-Paul and Jean-François. René left the hospital, especially for the BBQ. René, who is almost 90, and who is at the base of our meeting in Yvoir, was supposed to be present. Super.We were welcomed in a tent, specially placed for us, which offered us the necessary privacy. It was again a hearty view of the different clan members. Jean-Paul Hay of France with his wife was also present . Our Antwerp friends Roels were also present. It was great to greet Dorothée Roels with her husband. Ile d’Yvoir has grown as a paradise for children. The Clan Barbecue is set up

to accommodate entire families, with children. Use this organization to have a wonderful day with the kids. The wines, tombola led by Babeth Donnet, brought up 500,00 €. The prices contributed by the participants were in quantity as appreciated in quality. This allows us to support the annual event organization. It was unique to greet the various members wearing their kilt, and the ladies with their sash. The last made kilt, made by Moira George in Portsoy (Scotland), was for Vincent Bisilliat-Donnet.Here are several pictures.The next Clan Hay Spring Barbecue takes place in Yvoir-Ile d’Yvoir, on Sunday, May 20, 2018. In the morning there is a visit to a Mustard Factory Bister in Achène.

Notre Convenor Wallonie, Jean-Paul Hay, a à nouveau fait un merveilleux programme.Tous les participants étaient exactement à 10:00 hrs. en attente à l’entrée du Téléphérique, à côté de la cathédrale de Dinant. Quelques minutes plus tard, nous sommes monté en téléphérique pendant quelques minutes pour rejoindre l’entrée de la citadelle à Dinant. Une visite très interessante qui a donné aux participants un aperçu des techniques de défense. Des tranchées effondré ont été reconstruite, ce qui a donné un vrai sens de la façon dont les soldats ont dû survivre dans la Première Guerre mondiale.Alors que les participants ont apprécié la très bonne explication du guide,

Robin Huygen et Liliane Bergiers étaient occupés à tout préparer en Ile d’Yvoir pour le barbecue. À 12h00, tous les participants se retrouvaient à Yvoir. Tout le monde a attendu René Hay, père de Jean-Paul et Jean-François. René était, en particulier pour le barbecue, déchargé de la clinique. René qui est presque 90, et qui est à la base de notre réunion à Yvoir, tenait à être présent. Super.

Nous avons été reçus dans une tente, spécialement aménagée, pour nous donner l’intimité nécessaire. Ce fut à nouveau une réunion chaleureuse des différents membres du clan. Même Jean-Paul Hay venant de France était présent avec sa femme. Nos amis d’Anvers Roels ne pouvaient pas manquer. Il était fantastique d’accueillir Dorothée Roels avec son mari. Ile d’Yvoir est devenu un havre de paix pour l’acceuil des enfants. Le Clan Barbecue a été créé pour toutes les familles avec enfants . Utilisez cette organisation pour avoir une merveilleuse journée avec les enfants. Les vins, tombola dirigé par Babeth Donnet, a rapporté 500.00 € . Les prix apportés par les participants ont été appréciés en quantité et en qualité. Cela nous permet de soutenir l’organisation d’activités annuelles. Il était unique pour saluer les différents membres en kilt, et les dames avec leur sash. 20 mai 2018. Le matin, il y a une visite de la moutarderie Bister à Achêne.Onze Convenor Wallonië, Jean-Paul Hay, heeft weer een prachtig programma samengesteld.Om 10.00 uur precies waren alle deelnemers paraat aan de ingang van de téléphérique ,naast

de cathedraal van Dinant. Enkele minuten later ging het direct naar boven om enkele minuten later de ingang te bereiken van de citadel in Dinant. Een zeer interressanrt bezoek die de deelnemers een blik gaf van verdedigingstechnieken . Nagebouwde, ingestortte loopgraven, gaven een waarheidsgetrouw gevoel hoe soldaten in de eerste wereldoorlog moesten overleven.

Terwijl de deelnemers genoten van de zeer goede uitleg van de gids , waren Robin Huygen en Liliane Bergiers bezig om in Ile d’Yvoir alles klaar te maken voor de BBQ. Om 12.00uur waren alle deelnemers in Yvoir . Iedereen wachtte nog op René Hay, vader van Jean-Paul en Jean-François. René werd, speciaal voor de BBQ, ontslagen uit de kliniek. René die bijna 90 is, en die aan de basis ligt van onze bijeenkomst in Yvoir,

stond erop aanwezig te zijn. Super. Wij werden ontvangen in , een speciaal voor ons geplaatste, tent die ons de nodige privacy bood. Het werd weer een hartig weerzien van de verschillende clan members. Ook Jean-Paul Hay van Frankrijk was aanwezig met zijn echtgenote. Onze Antwerpse vrienden Roels mochten ook niet ontbreken. Het was fantastisch om Dorothée Roels te mogen begroeten samen met haar man. Ile d’Yvoir is uitgegroeid als een paradijs voor kindderen. De Clan Barbecue is opgezet om hele families, met kinderen te mogen ontvangen. Gebruik deze organisatie om een heerlijke dag te

beleven met de kinderen. De wijnen, tombola geleid door Babeth Donnet , brachten 500,00€ op. De door de deelnemers meegebrachte prijzen waren in kwantiteit als in kwaliteit geapprecieerd. Dit staat ons toe de jaarlijkse organisatie van evenementen te ondersteunen. Het was uniek de verschillende members te mogen begroeten met hun kilt , en de dames met hun sash. De laatst gemaakte kilt , gemaakt door Moira George in Portsoy(Schotland), was voor Vincent Bisilliat-Donnet.

De volgende Clan Hay Spring Barbecue heeft plaats in Yvoir-Ile d’Yvoir, op zondag 20 mei 2018. In de voormiddag is er een bezoek van een Mosterdfabriek Bister in Achène.

WEDDING HARRY LORD HAY WITH LADY CLEMENTINE

We knew already that Harry Lord Hay was in love. On the occasion of the concert of the Clan Hay Pipe Band and the St. Andrews Reunion in Brasschaat and Ekeren (Belgium), Harry suggested his engagement and presented Clementine. They asked the Pipe Band to play during their wedding . After all the preparations, on 21 April all pipers & drummers from the Clan Hay Pipes Band went to Burford. Rehearsals, so that this great marriage could be perfect. From all directions of the world came guests; Australia, Canada, USA, Europe, New Zealand and of course UK. The weather forecast was: Rain showers and fiery north winds. The reality was that in the morning it stopped raining at 10.00am. The welcome to the church was in a wonderful sunshine with a very cold breeze. We all were welcomed by the parents of the bride and groom. The

songs sung by the choir gave each one a happy warmth in the church-filled with beautiful flowers. Lady Clementine

glittered in her beautiful robe next to her lord. The Clan Hay Pipe Band accompanied the bridal couple at the outside of the church. Next to the church was the receptive place where guests were welcomed for some canapes and drinks. The massive music of the Clan Hay Pipe Band gave the further Scottish touch to the reception. At 16.00, the bridal couple left for an unknown love destination. Welcome, Lady Clementine in the Clan. We are all happy to welcome you.

Nous savions déjà un moment que lord Harry Hay, était amoureux. A l’occasion du concert du Clan Hay Pipe Band et la réunion de St Andrews à Brasschaat et Ekeren(Belgique), Harry a annoncé être engagé avec Clementine. Le couple a demandé au Pipe Band de jouer lors de leur mariage . Après tous les préparatifs, tous les cornemusiers et tambours sont parti le 21 avril vers Burford. Répétitions, de sorte que ce grand mariage se déroule parfaitrement. Les hôtes sont venus de tous les coins du monde; Australie, Canada, États-Unis, Europe, Nouvelle-Zélande, Grande Bretagne. Le temps prévu: vent du nord partiellement nuageux ,pluie et froid. La réalité était ce matin du 22 avril, il a cessé de pleuvoir à 10h00. L’accueil à l’église était sous un soleil radieux avec une brise très froide. Nous étions tous accueillis par les parents de la mariée et le marié. Les chansons chantées par

la chorale a donné une belle sensation de chaleur dans l’église revêtue de fleurs. Lady Clémentine étincelait dans sa belle robe à côté de son Seigneur. Clan Hay Pipe Band a devancé le couple de mariée pour sortir de l’église. A côté de l’église se tenait la réception où les invités ont été accueillis pour des boissons et collations. Le Clan Hay Pipe Band apportait le son écossais. A 16,00 hrs. le couple de mariée partait pour une destination d’amour. Bienvenue, LADY Clémentine dans le clan. Nous sommes tous heureux de vous accueillir.

Wij wisten al een tijd dat Harry Lord Hay, verliefd was . Bij de gelegenheid van het concert van de Clan Hay Pipe Band en de St. Andrews reunie in Brasschaat en Ekeren, stelde Harry zijn verloofd voor. Het Koppel vroeg de Pipe Band tijdens hun huwelijk de Pipse & drums te spelen.Na alle voorbereidingen, gingen dan op 21 april alle pipes & drums van de Clan Hay Pipes Band richting Burford. Repetities , zodat dit groot huwelijk vlekkeloos kon verlopen. Vanuit alle windrichtingen van de wereld kwamen gasten; Australia, Canada, USA, Europe, Nieuw Zeeland. De weervoorspelling was: regenbuien en gure noordenwind. De realiteit was dat s’morgens het ophield te regenen tegen 10.00uur. De verwelkoming aan de kerk was dan reeds in een heerlijke zonneschijn met nog een heel koude bries. Wij warden allen verwelkomd door de ouders van de bruid en bruidegom. De liederen

gezongen door het koor gaven aan ieder een heerlijk warm gevoel, in de met bloemen gehulde kerk . Lady Clementine schitterde in haar mooi kleed naast haar Lord. De Clan Hay Pipe Band ging het bruidskoppel voor bij het buitengaan van de kerk. Naast de kerk vond de receptive plaats , waar de gasten verwelkomd werden op

een hapje en een drankje. Dit onder de heelrijke muziek van de Clan Hay Pipe Band. Om 16.00uur vertrok het bruidskoppel naar een onbekende liefdesbestemming. Hartelijk welkom, Lady Clementine in de Clan. Wij zijn allen blij jou te mogen verwelkomen.

Some months ago, the convenor Clan Hay-Canada, Laraine Strafford, announced her venue to Belgium & France. It was a pleasure to meet them.Liliane & I spent a beuatiful day together with Laraine Strafford, her husband Ben and their niece Geneviève. Together we visited Ghent, Tyne Cot Cemetry, Ypres where we layed wreaths at the Menin Gate during the daily Last Post. Our supper was taken in the Clans Pub ‘Les Halles’. Again great souvenirs. Liliane & I promised coming over to Canada.

Quelques mois d’ici la clan Hay Convenor Canada, Laraine Strafford, nous a annoncé de venir en Europe, Belgique et France, avec son mari, Ben. Ils voulaient nous rencontrer à cette occasion.Liliane et moi avons eu un temps merveilleux avec Laraine et, Ben et leur nièce Geneviève. Nous avons visité ensemble Gand, Tyne Cot Cemetery, Ypres où nous avons déposé une couronne pendant Last Post quotidien. Bien sûr, nous avons pris le souper dans ‘Les Halles’ Pub des Clans. Encore une fois des souvenirs merveilleux. Liliane

Enkele maanden geleden informeerde de Convenor Clan Hay Canada, Laraine Strafford, dat zij met haar man, Ben, naar Europa kwamen en meer special naar Belgiê en Frankrijk. Zij wenste ons bij deze gelegenheid te ontmoeten.Liliane en ik hebben ee heerlijke tijd gehad met Laraine, Ben en hun nichtje

Geneviève . Wij bezochten samen Gent, Tyne Cot Cemetry, Ieper waar wij een krans hebben neergelegd tijdens de dagelijkse Last Post. Natuurlijk hebben wij het avondmaal genomen in ‘Les Halles’ de Clans Pub. Weerom prachtige souvenirs. Liliane en ik hebben beloofd naar Canada te gaan om hen te bezoeken.
