Our Parish Centennial Corner Prayer for World Youth Day Pilgrims
This week we pray for all who are at World Youth Day in Krakow (July 25-31). Youth and young adults are the focus of our prayer this month in our Centennial year.
God our Father, be with them on their pilgrim journey of faith. Give them the grace and courage to step forward in faith and hope on the road ahead. Lord Jesus, open their eyes to see your face in all those they encounter. Open their ears to hear your voice in those who are often ignored. Open their hearts that they might be faithful disciples of mercy and truth. Holy Spirit, transform them. Empower them to give of themselves to the poor; to welcome the lost; to forgive those who hurt them; to comfort those who suffer and are marginalized. Bless those who travel on mission from the United States of America to Kraków in Poland, Land of Divine Mercy, to join the universal Church for World Youth Day. Bless, too, those who celebrate stateside, united in faith and joy. Like the disciples who journeyed up the mountain to witness the Transfiguration, may this experience be an encounter that strengthens them for their work in the world. Through the intercession of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, patroness of our nation, may they be worthy witnesses of our faith, humble representatives of our country, and inspired missionaries bringing peace, hope, and mercy into our com-munities. Amen. - Adapted Blessing for World Youth Day Pilgrims Breakfast with the Bishop Bishop Patrick McGrath will visit our Parish on Sunday, August 21, starting with the 8:00 am Mass, then a Breakfast in the hall. KEEP PRAYING St. Monica, whose feast we celebrate in August, is often known as "the persistent mother." She watched her oldest son, Augustine, turn his back on his Christian faith. Monica was exasperated. For years she gave up talking directly to her son on the advice of a local bishop, who told her that it was better to talk to God about Augustine then to Augustine about God. The mother never gave up praying for her son. Eventually Augustine gave up his wild ways, was baptized, and later ordained and named bishop of Hippo. St. Augustine went on to become one of the Church's greatest scholars. Today's readings address the importance of persistent prayer. Abraham, in spite of trepidation that he is bothering the Lord, continues to ask about the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah. Jesus, in Luke's Gospel, tells his disciples to "ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Luke 11:9). This is our charge: keep praying. ʻʻEsquina Centenaria"
La oración de la JMJ para los Estados Unidos en preparación para la JMJ 2016 Dios, nuestro Padre, estarán con nosotros en nuestro viaje peregrino de la fe. Danos la gracia y el coraje de dar un paso adelante en la fe y la esperanza en el camino por delante.
Señor Jesús, abre nuestros ojos para ver su cara en todos aquellos que nos encontramos. Abre nuestros oídos para oír su voz en los que a menudo se pasan por alto. Abre nuestros corazones para que podamos ser fieles discípulos de la misericordia y la verdad. Espíritu Santo, nos transforman. Danos la fuerza para dar de nosotros mismos a los pobres, para dar la bienvenida a los perdidos; perdonar a los que nos hacen daño; consolar a los que sufren y están marginados.

Los Guadalupanos los invitan a rezar el Rosario cada Miércoles a las 7 en la noche en la capilla.
SIGUE REZANDO Santa Mónica, cuya fiesta celebramos en agosto, se conoce generalmente como "la madre persistente". Ella vio como su hijo mayor, Agustín, le daba la espalda a su fe cristiana. Mónica estaba exasperada. Durante años se dio por vencida de hablar directamen-te a su hijo siguiendo el consejo de un obispo de la región que le dijo que era mejor hablar con Dios sobre Agustín que con Agustín sobre Dios. La madre nunca dejó de rezar por su hijo. Finalmente, Agustín abandonó su rebeldía, fue bautizado y luego ordenado y nombrado obispo de Hipona. San Agu-stín se convirtió en uno de los eruditos más importantes de la Iglesia. Las lecturas de hoy destacan la im-portancia de la oración persistente. Abraham, a pesar de temer molestar al Señor, continúa preguntándole sobre el destino de Sodoma y Gomorra. Nhân tháng hướng về Giới Trẻ Năm Bách Niên Giáo Xứ St. Martin
Lời cầu cho Đại Hội Giới Trẻ Thế Giới
Trong tuần này, chúng ta cầu nguyện cho các bạn trẻ tham dự Đại Hội Giới Trẻ Thế Giới tại Krakow, Ba Lan (25-31 tháng 7).
Lạy Chúa Cha, xin ở với các bạn trẻ trên cuộc lữ hành đức tin. Xin cho họ ân sủng và lòng can đảm để bước đi trong lòng tin và hy vọng trên chặng đường trước mặt. Lạy Chúa Giêsu, xin mở mắt các bạn trẻ để họ thấy khuôn mặt Chúa nơi những người họ gặp. Xin mở tai họ để họ nghe lời Ngài nơi những ai thường bị làm ngơ. Xin mở lòng họ để họ có thể thành những môn đệ trung tín đầy lòng thương xót và sự thật. Lạy Chúa Thánh Thần, xin biến đổi họ. Xin ban sức mạnh giúp họ trao tặng chính mình cho người nghèo; đón nhận người lạc lõng; tha thứ những ai gây tổn thương cho họ; và an ủi những ai đau khổ hoặc ở bên lề xã hội. Xin chúc phúc cho những ai được sai đi từ Hoa Kỳ đến Krakow, Ba Lan, Đất của Lòng Thiên Chúa Thương Xót, để cùng Hội Thánh hoàn vũ tham dự Đại Hội Giới Trẻ. Xin cũng chúc phúc cho những ai hiệp ý mừng Đại Hội tại Hoa Kỳ, với tình liên đới trong niềm tin và niềm vui. Như các môn đệ lên núi và chứng kiến việc Chúa Giêsu biến hình vinh quang, xin cho cảm nghiệm này trở nên một cuộc gặp gỡ mang lại sức mạnh cho các bạn trẻ trong sứ mạng của họ giữa trần gian. Qua lời bầu cử của Mẹ Maria Vô Nhiễm Nguyên Tội, bổn mạng của Hoa Kỳ, xin cho các bạn trẻ thành những chứng nhân đức tin xứng đáng, những đại diện khiêm nhường của đất nước chúng con, và là những thừa sai được thúc đẩy mang bình an, hy vọng, và lòng thương xót đến các cộng đồng.
