Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, July 2, 2017 Think of yourselves as dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus. — Romans 6:11

Next Person in the Parish to Die SS. Peter & Paul would like to continue a tradition in our Mass Intentions. In the past we have had people who left small amounts of money after a funeral for Father’s use. The decision was made to begin a tradition here that will be offered for the next person in the parish to die. This Mass offering was started by a parishioner in another parish in our Diocese many years ago when he was unable to locate a priest to hear his mother’s confession and give her last rites as she lay dying at home (she died before the priest returned). He was so concerned for other parishioners that he began the offering a Mass as soon as possible after a death in the parish that “the next person in the parish to die” would die in sanctifying grace. Mass contributions can be sent to the parish office in an envelop marked “Next Person in the Parish to Die”. Standard Mass contributions are $5 each.

A huge thank you! To all those who donated to our Totus Tuus program. The students very much enjoyed themselves this week!

To Father Basil and Father Bill for agreeing to hold daily Mass for our students, even as they were trying to pack and unpack, move-in, move-out, etc. this week!

To the parents, grandparents, and older siblings for helping out with the supervision of the students, snack time, and lunch time.

To all the families who hosted our Team for dinner, and especially to Father Basil, Father Bill and Penny Oswald for housing them this week!

“It takes a village!” I couldn’t have done it without your help! Thanks to all the students who attended each day and helped make this a successful program not only for our parish but for the college kids who are dedicating their summer to our Catholic Youth!

Blessings and thanks to everyone! Kris Stodgel , Coordinator Thank you for bringing your child to our Totus Tuus program this year! We sincerely hope they enjoyed this experience. Please share your thoughts with us as we consider bringing the program back to our parish next year. There is a brief survey at the following web address: https://sspptotustuus2017.wufoo.com/forms/2017-totus-tuus-postsurvey/

Ministry to the Hospitalized and Homebound—Please contact the office when a parishioner is hospitalized or sick. Father Bill wants to be sure to schedule a

UPCOMING LITURGICAL ASSIGNMENTS

CHILDREN’S LITURGY LEADERS AND COORDINATOR NEEDED If you are looking for a good way to share your Catholic faith with our younger parish members (ages 4-7), now is the time! We currently are looking for a few adults (men and women are welcome, couples, too!) to help lead our Children’s Liturgy which takes place during our Sunday 11AM Mass. We lead sessions year-round, but have holidays and many school breaks off. We are also looking for

someone to take over as the Coordinator of the program. Leader Requirements: You must attend or have attended a VIRTUS training and be willing to lead a lesson (lessons provided) once per month. Lessons are about 25 minutes in length. We have several seasoned leaders who would be willing to assist/train you. Schedules are put out 4 months at a time, and you can choose what weekends work best for you! Coordinator: Work with the leaders to make quarterly schedules, have lesson materials available for the leaders (making copies at the church office) at least monthly, but can be done in 2-3 month increments. Make sure all leaders are trained accordingly and have VIRTUS certification. For more information, contact Kris Stodgel by e-mail at [email protected].
