Dear Parents,

Tomorrow we will be having our “all day” Kindergarten Orientation Day.

Judging by the excitement last week that was generated by our new arrivals

tomorrow will be a highly anticipated day.

Even the Year 2 students are excited, because they are coming up to the big

class for the whole day. Parent will also have the opportunity to come to a

meeting with the next year Kindergarten teachers and ask any questions that

they may have.

Speaking of next year, over the last two weeks I have announced that Mrs

Weston and Mrs Jones will be continuing their association with the school for

2014. Today I can announce that Mrs Lenehan will be coming back here to

Jugiong Public School for 2014. There will be more announcements about

staffing when I have finalised them.

The Infant department over the next few weeks will have a new Video Confer-

encing unit installed. This will enable the class to be in contact with other in-

fant departments. This is a tool that will enable the students to visit e.g. The

Great Barrier Reef and Khancoban infant class, see NASA and have news with

Bongongo. We can not get away from technology so we must use it so that our

students benefit.

Regards,

Russell

Year 6 to Year 7 Transition

7. Our Year 6 student will be travelling to Murrumburrah High School on

Monday 2nd December. Have a great time Zac.

Kindergarten Orientation Events

Our next Orientation is on Thursday 21st November, all day. This includes a

parent meeting at 2.30pm.

The school currently has eight students for Kindergarten in 2014, but we cer-

tainly can take more if people are thinking about sending their child to

Jugiong Public School.

School Community Award

The school is asking for nominations for the “School Community Award”. This award is to the person or persons who have contributed to our school in an outstanding way. Please present in writing marked confidential, to the Principal. Past winners have been Mrs Marianne Wallis, Mrs Leanne Smith, Mrs Weston, Ms Kuiters, Nicole Fairley and Katia Manton.

Swimming School

I have now been able to confirm the date for the Binalong Invitational Swim-ming Carnival for 2014 (its their turn). I can now organise instructors and times with the pool for our intensive swimming instruction. This program is run by the school to improve student’s swimming ability. It is not a substitute for parent responsibility to teach children how to swim.

Jugiong is situated on a major river, and as we all know, it floods from time to time. All children need to learn how to swim and what to do if they get into difficulty.

P & C

The P & C will be having its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 18th Febru-ary 2014. Parents need to be aware that all positions are available for interest-ed persons that has something to contribute to our school community.

Financial Roll Over On Friday 29th all schools in NSW Department of Education will be closing their financial books for the year and on Monday 2nd will be starting a new year. All financial movement for 2013 must be finalised on that Friday. Mrs Shea-han is going to be very busy over the next two weeks making sure that all the books balance.

2014 School & House Captain Elections

On Thursday 12th the students will be electing our student leadership body. This will involve both our current Year 5 students for who will be either School Captains or vice-captains.

For our current Year 4 they will become part of the leadership team and they will be having elections for House Captains and vice-captains. Early next year all the leadership team will be attending the Young Leaders Conference in Sydney that is attended by 5000 student leaders.

This will involve staying overnight in Sydney and attending the Monday morning conference at the Entertainment Centre.

Parents will be needed to supervise different rooms that we will be staying in.
