Judith’s Friday Flyer – 31st

January 2020

The weeks are going by so quickly and our developments continue at quite a pace. As one of the

pupils pointed out to me last week “everyone’s really happy and it’s lovely having you here but it is a

bit disappointing that you haven’t sorted the adventure playground yet”. So, on that note this flyer

is very much about keeping you informed about what we have already done and what needs doing

next.

Message from Ian Pavey, Chair of Governors

The Interim Executive Board met again last week. We are currently meeting every month. Judith

shared her plans for the school over the remainder of the school year. We debated the curriculum

and looked for assurances that every child at the school will achieve everything they are capable of.

We also agreed with Judith to recruit a teacher and to put in place a temporary leadership structure

that will help ensure that the priorities Judith has outlined in her Development Plan can be delivered.

The IEB also spent some time discussing a report from Katherine Latham, the boards finance expert,

on the current financial performance of the school. The finances are now stabilised for this financial

year. We continue our discussions with colleagues in the Local Authority about future plans.

Note from Governor Maggie Hawker

Hilary Ward (IEB) and Maggie Hawker (IEB) have recently held two fact finding meetings with key

staff to in order to discuss the current curriculum and assessment provision. Planned measures to

further promote curriculum continuity and to enhance ways to prepare pupils for positive

destinations when they leave school were shared.
