En Memoria de Juan José Pérez Mayo 22, 1937 - Julio 8, 2017 On May 22, 1937, in Havana, Cuba, Maria del Rosario and Jose Perez, received a handsome 13-lb. male, they named Juan Jose. He had an older half sister, Delia, from his father. Everything was joyful for the family. On his father’s side he had an aunt and cousins in Cuba, and the extended family on the father’s side lived in Tenerife, the main island of the Canary Islands. On his mother’s side he had an uncle called Eladio married to Erminia. His adolescence was like any Cuban child, in the town of Morón, in Cuba. He had the affection of his parents and an Aunt Lorenza. When Juan began to speak, he called her Titi. In Havana, he worked in an American store called Woolworth and he was a member of a local beach club where he would pass the time. It was there on a rainy Sunday, November 30, he met the girl who would be his wife, Shirley Hurtado. They were engaged three months after they met. On February 12, 1960 they were married and 57 years of happy union would come to pass. They had 3 beautiful daughters, Maria del Rosario and Isis, born in Cuba, and Rebeca in Grand Rapids, MI, and his loving grandchildren: Esmeralda, Joshua, Melissa, Zoe, Zethery and great-grandchildren. The beginning in the ways of Jehovah were during difficult times in Cuba but the truth triumphed! The subject of interest when he began to study was that he wanted to see Christ coming in the clouds. Brother Felipe Lopez, a congregation servant from the Congregation to which he began attending, did a good job of explaining the subject. It was soon time to depart for the United States to a new life. Jehovah did not abandon them. They wrote to the Watchtower Society and the brothers at the branch sent sister Hilda Larsen. They studied the book, "The Truth That Leads to Everlasting Life. "Juan was baptized, along with his wife, in 1969. With Jehovah’s help and the Larsen sisters, Hilda and Nelly, the first Spanish language group was formed in Grand Rapids. This group also included his relatives, the Hurtado and Santamaria families, as well. Thanks to Jehovah he continued to serve with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. The family hopes to be united again with him in the near future in God’s paradise conditions.

On May 22, 1937, in Havana, Cuba, Maria del Rosario and Jose Perez,

received a handsome 13-lb. male, they named Juan Jose. He had an

older half sister, Delia, from his father. Everything was joyful for the

family. On his father’s side he had an aunt and cousins in Cuba, and

Canción #151: Jehová los llamara

(Job 14:13-15)

Esmeralda, Josue, Melissa, Zoe y Zethery, y bisnietos.

Gracias a
