Since 1978, Desert Whale has created quality products while preserving the health and beauty of our natural world. With concern for plastic micro-particles contaminating our oceans and waterways, Desert Whale developed four differ-ent exfoliants derived from jojoba. These products are great natural alternatives to polyethylene beads. This exfoliant line is just one of the many environmentally friendly products from Desert Whale.

Physical exfoliation has become an essential part of the skin cleansing routine. Exfoliants increase the effectiveness of a cleanser to help remove dead skin cells and dirt particles, while enhancing skin’s radiance. Jojoba Exfoliants are derived from natural jojoba oil, they act not only as a physical exfoliant, but also as an emollient, leaving the skin softer, smoother and moisturized.

Jojoba Exfoliants are offered in a variety of colors to achieve a more intense visual impact, especially in clear formulations.

They may be used in formulations from 1% to 10%, depending on the desired visual effect and aggressiveness of exfoliation.

Jojoba Spheres™ are the premier exfoliant derived from fully hydrogenated jojoba wax

in a perfectly spherical shape. These spheres are available in a wide range of colors and

sizes. The melting point for these spheres is 68-70°C.

* The components of Jojoba Spheres™ and Jojoba Scrubeads™ were tested for biodegradability using protocols based on OECD Guideline 301D and OPPTS 835.3100. The test substances were exposed to an effluent inoculum under aerobic conditions for 28 days at approximately 20°C. The percent degradation on day 28 indicated that both Jojoba Spheres™ and Jojoba Scrubeads™ exhibit the characteristics of inherently biodegradable materials.

JOJOBA BUTTER BEADS™

Jojoba Butter Beads™ are a multi-purpose, crushable jojoba bead offering gentle exfolia-

tion and moisturization, while releasing actives. This exfoliant is derived from our jojoba

butter and jojoba wax. The melting point of this exfoliant is 50 °C, therefore it is able to

melt on the skin upon rub-on. Jojoba Butter Beads™ are available with a variety of active

ingredients and can be used for both leave-on and rinse-off formulations.

Jojoba Scrubeads™ are a natural, affordable alternative to polyethylene beads. These

beads are created from a combination of castor oil and jojoba wax. Jojoba Scrubeads™

are ideal for formulations that require higher mixing temperatures, as their melting point

is 82-90 °C, which is above that of a traditional wax sphere.

great benefit of our Jojoba Spheres™ without having oil in the name. These are ideal for

“oil-free” skin and facial cleansers. The melting point for these spheres is 66-70 °C.
