Have you ever noticed a coach on the sideline of a basketball game with his or her clipboard drawing out plays for a crucial moment in a game? Support Gatherings forAdult Children of

Aging ParentsBegins Thurs., Sept. 10 • 6:30pm • Parlor

Whether your parent(s) is living with you, or s/he is several states away, the biblical commitment to honor our parents weighs heavily on our hearts when quality of life fades. This gathering meets every other month in the relaxed atmosphere of our Church Parlor. Each has the opportunity to share with the group about the joys, concerns and frustrations in relating to his/her parent(s). You are not going through this alone, and there is much to learn from each others’ experience. You can join up at any time. Rev. Melton and his wife Roberta facilitate the sharing. No need to sign up – just email Hal and let him know you will be there! ([email protected])

Marriage Enrichment Groups

(Beginner & Ongoing)

Begin Friday, September 11 Sign-up on the Narthex Board Now!

A Marriage Enrichment Group (MEG) is an ongoing small group that provides a safe place for married or engaged couples to explore their relationship among supportive peers. Each MEG is as unique as the couples in them. All couples are there for the same purpose – to strengthen and grow their relationship.

The MEG goal is A Commitment to Growth, An Effective Communication System, The Creative Use of Conflict, and Frequent Expressions of Affection and Affirmation.

MEGs meet once a month with up to 8 couples and a Leader Couple. Each month the couples will address a different topic. The goal is to focus on their relationship. The majority of the time is spent with couples dialoguing about the topic of the week as it concerns their relationship.

Operation Christmas Child

Will you be ready?

Be sure to pick-up a few extras of all those great back to school bargains available now. They will come in handy when you fill your OCC box in November.

Consider signing-up to help with the Packing Party that TBC will be hosting on November 13th & 14th in the FH. We need lots of helpers to pack 2,000 shoeboxes, so if you have a Sunday School class, civic or school group that wants to serve, email me and tell me what time slot you would like to fill.

The time slots are 8:30am - 1:00pm and 12:30 - 5:00pm on either Friday or Saturday, November 13 & 14. We could also use some help on Thursday, November 12th to pick-up the supplies and set-up in the FH.

Get ready to spread God’s Love to the world’s children! - Lenita Gruttadauria (TBC’s OCC Lead Team Coordinator) [email protected].

Applications are Due Now

Jobs For LifeBegins Sunday, September 13

TBC has partnered with Jobs for Life (JfL) for nine years in an effort to help those who are underemployed and unemployed in our church and community to learn about God’s plan for work, discover road blocks in their lives to getting a job, and gain the skills and confidence to do an effective job search. This is done through an excellent curriculum provided by JfL. The Lead Team is ready to meet new students this fall. The class will meet Sundays from 5:00-7:00pm and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm in A-214.

Find Your Place in the

Music Ministry If you have singing or instrumental abilities,

We Need You.

We are always looking for more musicians to add to our worship leading ministries at Trinity. Consider getting involved in music ministry and being a part of an exciting place of ministry!

Attention Young

Musicians Choir Parents

Our 4th and 5th Grade students will be getting measured

for new robes this coming Wednesday night, September 9.

We will need to get this done rather quickly in order to have them by the Hanging of the Greens Service on November 29. Please have your child come a little early this week so that we can get their correct measurements and plan for another great Advent celebration.

It is just the beginning of the year, so if you missed the first night we still have room! Parents, it is important that you fill out enrollment forms per child so that we can have up to date information for each child enrolled. This is a necessary part of the enrollment process. Forms are available outside each choir door. Special thanks to all of our choir directors and leaders who have stepped up to work this year!

We are adding singers to our Sanctuary Choir all the time. You can come join as we begin a new season together. FirstLight, the choir for the 8:45 service, is also in need of new, faithful members who want to use their gifts for God. Pray that God will give you the courage to step up and join us!

Helping Your Family Prepare for Bible Study & WorshipPreparing for Bible Study and Worship can be quite an ordeal on Sundays and Wednesdays. How do we help to make worship and church a warm and inviting worship experience for our families? It can be done, but it requires some effort.

Check out these top 10’s.

Tips for preparing for Sunday School 1. Talk about Bible Study as something the

family does together.

2. Help children and youth look forward to it as times of joy.

3. Reinforce and recall the good experiences.

4. Make sure you get all the Bible study helps provided by the church.

5. Use them in quiet times with the non-readers

6. And allow for quiet time of readers.

7. Make Sunday morning a calm time and avoid conflict.

8. If the family eats breakfast on the run, have a brief prayer before leaving the house or in the car.

9. Ask God to give everyone a happy experience.

10. On the way home encourage everyone to talk about their Bible study[SS] and answer questions and share positively.

Ways for preparing for worship. 1. Talk at home in casual settings and in

times of family worship about going to church to hear about God.

2. Sing songs or listen to songs often sung at church.

3. Prepare to bring an offering and participate like all others in the service.

4. Talk about what can be expected. Stand up and sit down when appropriate.

5. Help the entire family experience worship as a happy time.

6. Prepare younger children physically, particularly giving them water and trip to the rest room before entering the sanctuary.

7. Answer questions any younger child may have but try not to disturb those around you.

8. Model reverence and respect and show what appropriate activities are allowed.

9. Always affirm good behavior, and talk about the positive aspects of the experience.

10. Whatever happens, always communicate that the worship service is a joy to you because of your love for God and for the church family.

Bible Study and Worship can be an exciting, enriching experience for all family members. The key is when the whole family works together to make it so. This is our command.

“Talk about them [God’s Laws] when you sit at home and when you walk along the road.”

– Deuteronomy 6:7
