What We Will DoWe will be partnering with Iglesia Bautista de Metropolis (a CBF church in Puerto Rico) to assist with hurricane recovery from Hurricane Maria, lead Vacation Bible School, and connect with various nonprofit ministries.

Where We Will StayWe are staying in Carolina, which is located about 20 minutes from San Juan (the capital of Puerto Rico) and the airport that we will be flying in and out of. We will stay in a neighborhood that is walking distance from the church, which will allow students to truly engage with the community, experience the culture, and share the love of Christ. We will stay in two homes owned by the church that will have bunk beds, air conditioning, bathrooms, showers, etc. Members of the church will provide meals for us that will primarily be served at one of the homes where we are staying.

What to ExpectWe will get to worship with the members of Iglesia Bautista de Metropolis on Sunday, July 14th and meet many of the members of the congregation that we will see throughout the week. We will have a chance to visit the homes of many of the church members as well and participate in student led devotion times. During the week, we will have the opportunity to journey into Old San Juan to see the historic fort and we will visit the nearby Carolina Beach (not the NC one). At the end of the week, we will head to the East Coast of Puerto Rico to venture out on a catamaran to snorkel around the reefs along the coast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does my student need a passport?

A: No. A passport is not required to travel to Puerto Rico. However, students must have a photo ID such as a driver’s license in order to fly.

Q: What is the primary language?

A: Spanish is the primary language. Many people that will help lead us and those in the tourism industry speak English as well. However, there will be many that only speak Spanish, so start studying!

Q: Will there be opportunities for individual students to raise money to lower their cost for the trip?

A: We are working on providing opportunities for students to raise money to lessen their cost of the trip. Please be on the lookout for emails from [email protected] throughout the years as various fundraising events and opportunities occur.
