Join us at noon on Wednesday, March 18 to begin a ‘lunch and learn’ group for everyone 55 and over. A light lunch will be provided. Hope to see you at the parish hall!
As I write this, it’s about 2:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday. The guys from Robinson Painting finished the work plastering and painting in church this morning. They did an excellent job and were wonderful to work with. As you can plainly see, some of the work they did got into the art work on the walls. I wrote before that Becky Vincent looked at restoring the art work but I haven’t heard anything from her at this point. It will take a little time to get the final bills from Robinson and know the exact final cost. When we do, the Finance Committee will take a look at the whole financial picture of our parish and determine if we can afford to have any more major work done right now. We will simply have to live with some of the art work being smeared up for at least a little while, and we’ll see for how long. The same logic that applies for the art work also applies to having the carpet replaced. It’s probably not something we can do at present. We do plan to have the aisles and sanctuary carpet cleaned. Speaking of cleaning… a group of parishioners will gather at 9:00 am this coming Thursday morning to give the church a thorough cleaning. It will take the hands of several to wash down most everything within reach. There is plaster dust, wet plaster drips, plaster chips, and paint splatter. If you haven’t been personally asked but are able to help, feel free to stop by and give a hand. As of the writing of this column, there are about 100 families who have made an appointment to have their picture taken for our parish directory. That’s 1/3 of the families in our parish. I suppose it’s a minor inconvenience to have a picture taken, but pretty minor. Please take a little time and be part of the directory. The company helping us, LifeTouch, will give us as many directories as the number of families who have their picture taken, plus 10%. So if you don’t have your picture taken, then you probably won’t get a copy of the directory. Until next week… Fr. Randy
