We provide professional offender transport, offender escort and court security services to all court facilities within Newfoundland & Labrador. TRAINING Successful Applicants who are invited to proceed with the training phase will be required to successfully complete an 11 week training program comprised of 8 weeks of “classroom” instruction followed by 3 weeks of supervised “on- job-training”. The classroom phase will include formal classroom lecture instruction supplemented by physical training and basic military “parade procedure” training. Training is conducted in the St. John’s area with all recruits being responsible for obtaining their own accommodations. Upon commencement of training, recruits will be paid at the current GS-32 (Deputy Sheriff I) pay scale in accordance with the NAPE General Service Collective Agreement. THE PROCESS The recruitment process within the Office of the High Sheriff is conducted in accordance with Public Service Commission guidelines. It is based on the merit principle which provides for the recommendation of candidates on the basis of the best demonstration of qualifications, knowledge, abilities, and personal suitability. The application of the merit principle throughout the staffing process is achieved through practices that are designed to be fair, equitable, and transparent. Applicants will be invited to submit their application and résumé following a job posting on the PSC online job portal at https://www.hiring.gov.nl.ca/ and through various media.
