Iowa State Cyclone Soccer

Community Support

A record 929 fans saw Iowa State face Missouri on Sept. 26, 2008.

The Cyclones had three consecutive home matches (Drake, Iowa and Missouri) that set new attendance records in 2008.

In 2008, Iowa State smashed the season-attendance record with 4,682 fans coming to watch the Cyclones.

Supporting the Community

The Iowa State soccer team won the Cyclone Challenge Award, which goes to the ISU team that made the greatest contribution to the community in 2008-09.

The Cyclones volunteered at events including: VERB Program Assembly, Dance Marathon, club soccer practices and clinics, campus blood drive, ACCESS Shelter, food drive, Kidz Days and Gilbert Elementary sports “Let Them Play” night.

An Excellent Coaching Staff

Coaches Wendy Dillinger, Tracy Grose and Megan Kerns have been a part professional soccer teams.

Dillinger led Washington University (Mo.) to four NCAA Championship berths and conference titles.

Dillinger and Grose hold nearly every Indiana University career and season off ensive record.

Grose was a member of the 2002 WUSA champion Carolina Courage.

Assistant coach Ben Madsen owns the career goalkeeper saves mark at Lincoln Memorial University, where he earned all-conference honors.

Academic Success

Seven players received Academic All-Big 12 honors in 2008.

The soccer team earned a cumulative 3.22 GPA in the 2008-2009 academic school year.

Ann Gleason and Lauren Fader were named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII First Team in 2008.

First-Class Facilities

The Cyclones play at the fully lighted, natural grass ISU Soccer Complex, with a locker room and recently added team meeting room located adjacent to the fi eld.

Iowa State practices at the practice fi eld adjacent to the game fi eld or at the $10 million Bergstrom Indoor Training Facility that opened in 2004.

ISU uses the 7,500 square foot sports medicine facility and utilizes sports psychologist Dr. Marty Martinez .

The Big 12 Conference

Iowa State plays in the Big 12 Conference, one of the most talented, tradition-rich leagues in women’s college soccer.

Five Big 12 teams were ranked in the fi nal 2008 top-25 poll.

The Big 12 had six teams qualify for the 2008 NCAA Championship, tied for second among all conferences.
