Checklist for Mining Activities

• We have Prestart checklist for every machine Since inception.

• This year we have introduced checklist for Mining activities, this is according to the recommendation of 11th Nation Safety Conference and corresponding Circular by DGMS

• DGMS asked for the rule, we make it as Prestart checklist booklet to be carried to u/g by every employees. He has to get it signed by his supervisor, if any point on that day is negative. Now responsibility to correct the condition is on

the supervisor.

Occupational Health Surveillance

• Initial Medical Examination of all new employees.

• Periodical Medical Examination after 3 years for every

employee (as per Mines Act 1952, it shall be in every

5years).

• Blood test for sugar for every employee every year.

• Blood pressure check every year for all employees.

• Personal monitoring to measure dust and particulates that

our employees could be exposed while mining coal, always

keep the 8 hrs weighted average below 3mg/m3.

• Noise monitoring to identify the process having more than

80dB noise level.

• Vibration monitoring for safe utilisation of the equipment as

well as for the health of the operator, the limit is restricted

to 1mm/sec.

• Less specific power consumption than conventional mining;

• Water consumption is being recycled after use on Joy machine, it is pumped out of the mine to the surface where it is recycled and reused in the mine .

Environment is a priority We don’t own this Earth we are leasing it for our children

• Replaced all filament bulbs with CFL • Using lead free paints for painting • Separate waste bin for plastics, oil and biodegradable materials • Proper disposal of waste to parties nominated by State Pollution Control Board

Integrated environmentally sound practices into all process:

• Go Green campaigning on World Environment Day on 5th June every year. Not only plantation, we also make our people including the contractual workers aware through poster and class room training.

• Not only do we teach our employees to respect the environment, we have now started with our families, because we do realise we have to play our part in protecting this earth that we live on


1. Conducting training classes & explaining the necessity of reducing power consumption, water consumption & Stop

wastage / misuse of electricity.

The above steps gave rise to the following visible results -
