“Life is what you Bake of It”Many of us spend our lives in search of happiness. We do not know where to start from. The main reason of this confusion could be that we are searching for happiness at the wrong place. Let's begin our journey of finding happiness from simple things in life. We ourselves are the ultimate source of happiness. Once we realize this, finding things of our interest won't be too difficult. Pursuing our hobbies can be really interesting & life will not be monotonous that way.

Talking about hobbies, have you ever considered baking? If you are an ardent 'dessert-lover', baking is one of the things that you should try. Baking well could make you feel like doing wonders. On the Internet you come across so many wonderful recipes & if you like any of the breads, cakes, pastries you can experiment in the comfort of your kitchen.

Why Baking Is FunBaking is Curing: Relaxing your mind after a long day is not very easy. But when you start baking, you will automatically feel motivated about the final baked product. Baking makes your kitchen smell just so good that you are taken to a different world altogether. The thought of baking chocolate chip cookies can release all our burden and let you enjoy the flavorful cookies.Baking is Magical: Using some basic ingredients will just taste delightful when placed altogether. Although the base of cooking remains the same but what you add to it will make the things special. Finally, these simple ingredients will reshape into enticing and appetizing bites, which you won't be able to get enough of!Baking is Sharing: After hours of hard work and the love that you put in while baking, is the sole reason that baking makes you want to share it with your near and dear ones. Sharing is caring. Nothing beats the fact that sharing a part of yourself or your creation with the people you care for can prove to be blissful.Baking Brings People Together: Baking your heart out on family get-togethers and parties can prove to be very successful. Not everyone has nerves of steel that they could resist the rich and moist lip-smacking pastries & cakes. This can bring all the family members together and win their hearts. After all, a family that eats together stays together!Baking is Creative: Fond of baking and on top of that being creative could be a deadly combination. If you are a creative person, then expanding your creativity skills while whipping some of the ingredients in a variety of combinations could prove to be the best. Therefore, baking gives you two benefits – one, it provides an outlet for your creativity to flow through and two, it lets you create something amazing from scratch.

You can have great fun while baking, whether you do it by yourself, with your kids or with your friend. It's a pleasure to see our hard work turn into an effortlessly tasty outcome. In simple words “As long as you bake, life is sure to be sweet”

FOMO ( Fear Of Missing Out) with Pandemic Effect FOMO ( Fear Of Missing Out) with Pandemic Effect FOMO ( Fear Of Missing Out) with Pandemic Effect

Fear of Missing Out, a feeling of extreme sense of anxiety or stress from the feeling of missing out in social occurrences or not having been taken to aend in the first place, spreads rapidly like Covid 19 pandemic as it has the strength to enervate people out his/her potenal. FOMO establishes itself as a millennial-speak acronym in social terms along with 21 st century terms like selfie and emoji. Fomo feelings are developed mainly among the frequent visitors of social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twier, etc. which are an influx of pictures, videos, comments and other virtual life acvies. FOMO make them feel that they have not been invited or able to aend any of these virtual acvies. The inability to aend these overwhelming virtual acvies happening in the social media leads most of the young people to stress and depression. Undoubtedly, the Covid 19 pandemic altered the work and learning environment which in turn amplified this feeling irrespecve of the social and economic strata of the society.

Though FOMO was developed as a term to menon the anxiety caused out of social media acvies, its dimensions are geng into many form in this me of work -at- home and online teaching. The newly enforced work- at- home pulls most of the people into isolaon and alienaon as man is a social animal and not virtual social animal. The frame of mind and subjecvity of humans are developed through social interacons and involvements. These establishments cannot be replaced by virtual realies that we speak of with self imposed convicon. Most of the children who undergo online learning process are suffering from mental trauma and stress as they are not able to understand what is happening in reality. Technical hindrances like low speed of internet, lack of modern gadgets, etc. accelerate this effect.

Dealing with FOMO 1. Realize that it exists in me.

As it is rightly said that 'awareness itself is healing,' admit and accept that you have anxiety and make your mind sense that one cannot be everywhere at all me. Real life events are happening not in virtual reality but in real life where social interacons are the key.

2. Try to reduce the me of being online. Learn to redo your mornings without geng glued your eyes to the screen of your smart phone. It is not an easy thing to distance away from social media, but try to limit your acvies. Fix me to complete your social media and online assignments like you schedule me for your breakfast, lunch, prayer, etc.

3. Pracce mindfulness.Mindfulness is the non judgmental observaon or awareness that is focused on the present experience. Here is an acvity for pracce- when you have your lunch, instead of browsing on the screen of your smart phone , try to idenfy the different tastes emied out from the parcles of food in your mouth, try to sense the muscle movements in the cheeks when you chew, or try to realize the sensaon in your throat when you swallow. Enjoy what you do at present. Observe the facial radiance when you talk with dear ones in the family.

4. Accept the Reality.'Why it happens to me only?' is the percepon of most of the people. But reality is that it happens to all in one form or the other. It is very clear that the vicms of FOMO are suffering from a self imposed dogma that can be removed with a sense of complete convicon of the reality.

5. Increase the volume of conversaon Talk and interact more with family members and friends. Open conversaon with friends through phones (in lock down periods) will help alleviate the tensions mounted on you from FOMO. Light chaer with near and dear ones will have a venlaon effect.

Happiness personified Happiness personified Happiness personified "Permanent and everlasting world peace" is a solid message spread around this globe. Why such a message? Whether world peace is in peril??!! This perspective is there even before the world wars. Now the situation is worse than the situation during the yester years. Now conflicts are everywhere. It's between countries, within a country, within a society, within a family etc., Let us forget about the predictions of Nostradamus or Mayan calendar as the destruction of this planet is imminent and that too in the near future because of our abuse of this planet and not because of an external threat. Are we really leaving a safe planet to our descendents? Are there not alarming factors which are endangering the planet fast towards destruction like global warming, ecological imbalances, destruction of ozone layer, polluting every natural resource, deforestation, shortage of food, population explosion etc., and above all the pandemic Covid -19

Are we not witnessing the deterioration in interpersonal relations and more and more people are thinking their comforts alone and become more self centered and their myopia towards altruism. The moral values for the welfare of common good are being forgotten and less practiced. Then how are we going to achieve "permanent and everlasting world peace"? We have only one finite world to live at present, leave alone the scientific inventions and overtures to find out whether human living is possible in other planets. Whether we are willing or not we have to coexist harmoniously in this world. Interdependence is the manthra and all our pursuits should synergise to a safe world to live around and our attempts in interpersonal relations are to be "Win Win" approaches. It's not I win, you lose or I win but not bothered about your accomplishment or I lose, you win or I lose, you lose but it is all together a different paradigm that both of us will win. Only then we can be happy and we shall make the people around us also happy. What if happiness is shared? Let us explore the answer.

Sharing happiness: If food is shared hunger will be removed. If grief is shared it will be reduced to 50%, but happiness is shared it is doubled, even tripled or multiplied to a large extent as said by elders. Even thousand candles can be lit by a single flame, without shortening the life of the candle...Happiness never decreases by being shared... "Happiness quite unshared can scarcely be called happiness; it has no taste." They say "happiness is only real when shared. Leave alone sharing happiness let us try to understand "what is happiness?"

Happiness: "Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give." ― Ben Carson "Success is getting what you want. Happiness is liking what you get." "The secret of happiness is not in doing what one likes, but in liking what one does." "When thinking, saying and doing are in harmony it results in happiness as told by Buddha. The meaning and purpose of one's life is happiness as told by Aristotle. They say people first go for basic needs like food, dress and shelter. Then they go for safety needs like a permanent job and constant income. Then they go for love needs like lovable wife/husband and children. Then they go for esteem needs like name and fame in the society. But they will not be satisfied by the fulfillment of these needs as they are only mean values rather they want end values like happiness and satisfaction in one's life as their ultimate satisfaction, the very purpose of their life.

Some people say," If you want happiness for one hour, go for a nap, If you want happiness for a day, go for fishing, if you want happiness for a month, get married, if you want happiness for an year generate wealth, if you want happiness for your life time, help others. Here you find the ultimate happiness comes from not getting but giving.

Myths about happiness: Happiness is not when but now. People will undergo happiness traps like the ones follow: " I'll be happy when...."( When the house loan is paid off, when we go to Gongtak, Bali, or Hawaii, when I find a better job, When I get a wife like Aishwarya Rai, When I get a caring husband, when I get my promotion...). So We postpone our happiness. "If I have known today was going to be so awful, I would have been happy yesterday." We look back to the past and say like this.

The moral is don't brood over the past or wait for the future but be happy now. As happiness is not a when - Happiness is a now. Ways to share happiness: It's quite natural for every one of us to share happiness which you might have noticed in all festive occasions. It's not enjoying the happiness only with family members but with relatives, friends etc., Some of the techniques are Address by name, smile at people and be concerned about fellow human being.

Conclusion: We learnt about what happiness is and how it depends upon one's perception about the world around and how he can make others happy. When everyone around is happy we can be sure about peace around. When the jaycees are able to spread the message of happiness over the globe, I am sure the world becomes a peaceful park and the perspective of Henri Gissenbear "permanent and everlasting world peace will be the imminent result. So Be happiness personified.

Time to stop fixing and start thriving. Happy Training!!!Time to stop fixing and start thriving. Happy Training!!!

“Training has lost its charm. I am going to fix it,” said an ambious lady who called me a few months ago. Let's start at this. If you too felt this at any point, join me in exploring it inside out. Listen. It's not just about training anymore. It's as much about the trainer. It's me we transioned from the atude of 'fixing' the outside to 'tapping' the innate. For all the years we've been banking on personality and presentability while subtracng everything that is immeasurable, it's me we metamorphosed into a change-magician. We have reached a point where we are seeking to expand the scope of training by taking the 'unknown' into consideraon. Why? Because each shi happens when the 'unknown' pushes the 'known' to a corner. And guess who's expected to fix the situaon. Yes, the trainers. See the point?

Last 10 years witnessed high emphasis on 'adrenalin-pumping' strategies. It's me we moved on to 'awareness-inspired' training. And here's one key to this major shi: Step out of the 'fake it ll you make it', and 'making things happen' trend to leading change with 'acknowledging authenc vulnerability'. Put simply, learn to be more of who you are. Paradigm is the most abused word in training in the last decade. Not realizing how deep and massive the effect of a paradigm shi is, we tend to connect it with every response to crisis. However, if there's a right me it deserved a menon, this is the most appropriate one. Yes we already are in a shi. Liberaon from outcome-obsessed objecves to experience-rooted engagement will drive the future of training. ZOOM- Connecting Lives in Covid-19

COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease) has changed many things in our life. Working in January - 2020 and working from April to July - 2020 is completely different. Whether it is personal life, family life or business life. This virus has given us a lesson to live life simple and hygienic way. And to make this different lifestyle easy and keep connected with all, technology called ZOOM played a major role.

Zoom started its journey in 2011 as Zoom Video Communications. It is an American communications technology company, headquartered in San Jose, California. It provides video telephony and online chat services through a cloud-based peer-to-peer software platform and is used for teleconferencing, telecommuting, distance education, and social relations. Founder of this company is Eric Yuan. ZOOM Company is listed in NASDAQ. When everyone is facing different kind of problems in this

pandemic condition, this company is growing beyond expectations. If we talk about Zoom peak, daily meeting participants are approximately 300 Million people and daily download is approximately 2.13 Million.

Why did people choose this App for online meetings ? Is it easy to use ? Now we are going in depth of Zoom and understanding what we can do with these apps. When Janta curfew was declared on 22nd March, 2020. So, many LOM and Zone had arranged a 1st time online meeting with fear and uncertainty that whether members will join or not or whether this way can work out. But now, almost 97% LOM/Zone/National level communications/meetings/training/events are happening in Zoom. Not only JCI India, JCI itself is doing major conferences through ZOOM. Its connective lives worldwide Why is Zoom the best video conference app? Zoom is one of the best video conferencing apps for Windows, Android and iPhone. It supports member-to-member video calls, voice calls, messaging, and photos and video sharing and many other features.

Zoom is free or chargeable?Zoom is offering a full-featured basic plan for free with unlimited meetings. Only limitations in the free version have a 40 minutes time limit on meeting with three or more total participants but good things is that there is no trial period or expiry. Paid versions are also available on Zoom in different plans from $14.99 per user / per month. We are not focused on basic features of Zoom but here we are focusing more on advanced features, API Integrations and Extensions.

Zoom - Google Calendar Chrome Extensions : This allows participants to schedule Zoom meetings directly from Google Calendar. Using the extension, you can start an instant meeting or schedule a future meeting. The meeting join link and details are sent via a Google Calendar invitation so the attendee can join with a single-click from the calendar. We can integrate Zoom with Microsoft Outlook, Skype, IBM Notes, Firefox and many other applications using extensions and plugins and these are easily accessible through Zoom website.

The Zoom API is the primary means for developers to access a collection of resources from Zoom. With the API of Zoom we can integrate with Websites also and using YouTube and Facebook Live features we can arrange online exhibitions also. Lots of online exhibitions are going on Zoom API and Website integrations.

Here is the picture of an online exhibition arranged during Webcon of Zone VIII. Using online technology and our mind creativity we can do wonders. We can host different types of events in virtual environments, only things we need to learn best practices to host digital events.

Zoom Academy - Summer 2020 is on 29th and 30th July, 2020. If you are a teacher or school leaders then register and learn how zoom can help you in education.

Just like Google, Zoom is also in Hardware as service. Office or school can install hardware as a service, and deploy a world-class communications experience. It is a totally different experience from Laptop and Mobile. We can enjoy meeting on the greatest video communication technology.

If we want to learn more about Zoom then visit the help center where you can find live webinar, training center, video tutorials, recorded training sessions, FAQs, Admin setting and many more. Visit https://support.zoom.us for more learning.

Lot more we can do with Zoom but here I have tried to explain in simple way for non-technical persons too. Let us all understand the power of technology and start work in different ways.

The whole idea of the events organized in this No plastic Wor ld campaign is to ignite and make aware of Avoiding Use of Plastic in their daily life through a thought process on Refuse, Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. To make the people aware of the International No Plastic Day, we created a Facebook frame for International No Plastic day for profile picture which has been released by our National President JCI Sen Anish C Mathew 3 days before the event which created a enthusiasm among Jaycees and many applied the frame for the profile photos in their face book profile. Every flower has a distinctive smell, colour shape and size which makes them one of their kind. Similarly, in the garden of our life, our children are such flowers with their own individuality having their own likes, dislikes ,passion and dreams. We being their parents should acknowledge it and help them to conquer their goal.

We JCI Ranchi Udaan is an all Lady organisation, or to say all mother Organization. We feel complete in nurturing and guiding our children. We allow them to pursue what ever dreams they have and take pride in it.

Admits this time of distress anguish where we all are suffering but our children are being effected the most. No school, no friends, no playgrounds, no Sunday outings have strained them badly.

To cheer them up by engaging them in creative activity we initiated the Junior MasterChef Contest. To our utter surprise we got more than 70 entries from JrJc of our LOM, non Jaycees, kids from around the country and even some from other LOMs of JCI. There were three criteria’s of participant , determined according to age. All the three group were given separate task. On the day of contest, 14th of April,2020 the kids of every group were assigned there task which they had to complete with predetermined time. The outcome were more astounding that we ever thought. The little ones prepared amazing dishes and plated them in the most attractive way. Who could have ever imagined that these kids could do better that some of the older ones of our kind.

We, JCI Ranchi Udaan, initiated the contest to engage, amuse and teach the children few things, but we learnt many things from them. The biggest thing they taught us was “ They are handling this quarantine situation better than us and they are well prepared for their future”.

LeadershipDuring

Lockdown

COVID 19 – the crisis over the last few months has totally changed the way we work. Each individual has been challenged and has been asked a question of what it means to be a leader and the personal qualities required to excel in the role. It has raised other important questions. Questions that are coming more sharply into focus as the world prepares to return, slowly, to some kind of normality.

What is required?Empathetic Leadership

We are all going through this pandemic, but we are not all in the same boat. This is impacting people in all different ways, and as leaders we can't overlook that. We need to practice .Empathetic Leadership

What is Empathetic Leadership?

It is the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and use that as a jumping off point for leading, rallying, and motivating those around you. We are all leaders -- be it at work or in our families or in our communities -- and how we lead in these challenging times will have a ripple effect. “Starbucks is recognized for treating its employees, also known as partners, well. The coffee giant insurance benefits, stock options and offers retirement plans. But back in 1997, Starbucks faced a crisis when tragedy struck and three employees Were killed during a robbery in Washington, D.C.

What do you think CEO Howard Schultz did? The outstanding leadership of CEO Howard Schultz was demonstrated when he flew straight to D.C. and spent a week with the co-workers and families of the three employees.”

Perfect example of an empathetic leader.

Managing Uncertainty

COVID 19 crisis has also highlighted a key aspect of leadership and that is Managing Uncertainty.

One of the primary role of a leader is to plan for the future. This is absolutely essential to ensure the long term health and success of a business or an organization. But how do we plan when the future looks uncertain? Is it even possible to take a long term view when the world is changing at an unprecedented rate? Well, it is possible. As leaders, some of the most challenging decisions we have to make are about our priorities. Deciding exactly where an entity will focus its efforts and attention. It is about doing a few things extremely well rather than trying to cover everything.

VUCA acronym based on the theory of Warren Bennis and

Burt Nanus is the way to go.

Volatility yields to Vision.Uncertainty yields to Understanding.

Complexity yields to Clarity.Ambiguity yields to Agility.

JCI India Challenge | July 2020 25

Page 26: JCI Challenge July · Why to limit ourselves? Let COVID 19 play its role, we being the Active Citizens of JCI, it is our responsibility to fight COVID 19 and ensure that we do not

IInnovation

When crisis strikes it is time for leaders to think outside the box and move to Plan B. A leader who is an innovative thinker embraces this challenge and utilizes the unique talents of those around him to develop a quick solution. They are able to encourage different perspectives and can use their knowledge to devise a creative solution to the problem. Don't Be Afraid to Take Action — and Quickly.

f we take the example of the current crisis of COVID 19, many businesses and organization have been able to survive and some have even grown as they quickly innovated to keep up with the pace of the changing environment. Innovation in terms of new products, services and the use of technology. All led by innovative leaders.

“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower." -Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder

Therefore, it takes a leader who is well-composed and can think quickly on their feet to foster teamwork and bring about creative solutions to the problems.

You are the Magical Leader

Author Marilynne Robinson said, "Say that we are a puff of warm breath in a very cold universe. By this kind of reckoning, we are either immeasurably insignificant or we are incalculably precious and interesting. I tend toward the second view."

I too believe the second view.

Leadership is not what you do to make yourself look smarter or better. It is not when you are practicing a leadership script. Not when you are exercising your authority. Leadership is, when you shed the voices from the outside. When you reach the center of you and figure out who that person is. And then when you share that person with the world, that is leadership. That's your leadership. And that leadership is magical.

In the words of Woodrow Wilson:

"You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.”

We as active citizens can definitely play an important role in orienting the society. Let us create a benchmark by our exemplary leadership skills and by setting examples with our work which is remembered for all the time to come.

Lets Bridge The Gap.

Best Wishes!!!

What does Reiki do?

Reiki can help alleviate suffering, whether it be of a physical, emotional, mental or spiritual nature. This means that Reiki can heal. Reiki does enhance the effects of medical treatment when used in conjunction with it. An underlying principle of Reiki is that it can do no harm and cannot be used for any harmful purpose.

When we speak of healing, a well physical body may be the first thing that comes to mind. However the root meaning of the word "Heal" is whole. The practice of healing is that of becoming whole on all levels of being, The physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.Illness happens when the mind, body and spirit become unbalanced. True wellness is reached only by returning the entire being to harmony and balance. Not only with itself but with the Earth and the Universe. We begin healing by finding our desire to be well and whole. Without the motivation to be well and the intention to act in our own behalf we can not become well. Reiki is a means to empowering us to become whole in all ways. Another purpose of Reiki is to help enhance personal and spiritual evolution and to assist on the path to enlightenment. Reiki is not affiliated with any one spiritual path and will work for anyone.Reiki also works on plants, animals, and even machines and can be used in Earth healing and has been used for treatment of world events. Reiki will work for you personally and is also a tool you can use to help others.

Reiki energy works to harmonize, or bring into balance, the total you: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

To learn to practice and share Reiki with others yourself, you must receive atonement from a Reiki Teacher. You can learn to give Reiki treatments to yourself, family and friends. Animals, plants etc. Some people use Reiki on appliances. The Reiki energy treats and energizes you even while you aretreating others.

YES YOU Stop being unhappy with yourself. You are perfect .Stop wishing you looked like someone else .Stop trying to get attention from those who hurt u. Stop hating your body, your face, your personality, your unusual habit. Love them. Without those things u wouldn't be you. And why would you want to be anyone else?... Be confident with who you are……. SMILE It'll draw people in. If anyone hates you is because you are happy with yourself. Let them hate and say screw it. My happiness will not depend on others anymore.

I am happy because I love who I am. I love my flaws, I love my imperfections. They make me ME. And me is pretty amazing and I am going to show this world just how beautiful is ME.

LETS PROMISE Promise yourself that you will stop putting your feelings and needs second. Selfishness and Selfcare are two very different things. Promise that you will take care of your mind and body. Stay active, but give yourself permission to rest and time to replenish your soul. Promise yourself that you will walk away from those who love you with conditions and from those who do not value your worth. You shouldn't have to destroy your soul in order to create a relationship.

Promise yourself that you will start to change the critical voice inside your head. Replace the thoughts that bring you down with the thoughts that lifts you up. Promise to forgive yourself and stop reliving the same mistakes. Be kind and gentle with yourself. Make decisions based on passion, not fear. Respect yourself. Love yourself and recognize that in this very moment , you are enough. Lock away these promises and throw away the key. May you learn that you are deserving of the same love you give others and may you love yourself enough to keep the promises you make.
