Provisions from the American Disability Act will be considered when planning educational programs and activities. Please notify the Jasper County Extension Office at 409-384-3721, five days before an event if you plan on attending an Extension educational program and need specialized services. Educational programs to serve people of all ages regardless of socio-economic level, race, sex, religion, disability or national origin. This is NOT a qualifying event for the State 4-H Photography contest
Jasper County rules are the same as District 5
photo contest rules. Call Extension office for
more details. Formatting your photo: each photo
must be a jpeg or gif file to where it can be
printed at 300 dots per inch (dpi) at 3 x 5 inch
size. Files must not be larger than 2 mb.
To enter the county show, email your photo to
[email protected]. You must include this
information with your entry:
category
Age division (Jr., intermediate, or Sr.)
First and last name
Each 4-Her may have one entry in each cate-
gory (total of 15 entries) —however, DO NOT
EMAIL more than 3 entries at a time. If you are
entering all categories, that will require 5 sepa-
rate emails. Deadline : January 25, 2013

Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship Texas 4-H & Youth Development Program and Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation offer senior high school 4-H members and current college students an Opportunity Scholarship. Approximately 225 scholarships will be awarded in 2013 ranging from $1,000 to $18,000 (amounts es-tablished by donors). Four different categories: 1. Baccalaureate scholarships for BS or BA degrees
from an accredited Texas College or University 2. Technical certification scholarships for students
who pursue technical certification in a recognized and approved Texas accredited college listed in the scholarship packet
3. Collegiate scholarships designated for former Texas 4-H members who have been graduated
from high school for at least one year and com-pleted a minimum of 30 hours college credit
4. Courageous Heart scholarships for Texas 4-H members who have overcome extreme obstacles
It is the responsibility of each applicant and their par-ents/guardians to know deadlines and important dates and be willing to participate in all events related to the scholarship process, including final selection interviews in Austin and an awards program in Col-lege Station.

4-H Shooting Sports and 4-H Archery Camp — NEW!
Congratulations to 4-H members selected to represent Texas
next summer at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational
Match. They were selected based not only on shooting ability
but also character and leadership qualities.
Texas 4-H Archery Camp will be held at the 4-H Center in
Brownwood Jan. 19-20, 2013. Camp is open to 4-H members
ages 9 to 18 who want to improve their shooting knowledge and
skills in recurve and compound archery. It is also for certified
40-H archery coaches.
Youth participants should have beginning or intermediate ex-
perience in shooting archery and understand basic safety,
range rules, and whistle commands. Adult and youth partici-
pants must provide their own equipment. Registration on 4-H
Connect will be open Nov. 12—Dec. 16 and is limited to the
first 30 youth and first 10 adult coaches.
All 4-H members, parents and
County Extension Agents are invited
to 4-H Day at the Capitol. 4-H will
be recognized in the house of Rep-
resentatives and Senate Chambers,
and you can meet your legislators in
the afternoon. Registration opens on
4-H Connect on Monday, Dec. 17 and
closes Jan. 18, 2013.

Late breaking NEWS: Dec. 6 take On-Line Scholarship training, 7 to 9 p.m. via CENTRA. Attendees may enter up to 15 minutes prior to the start of the presentation by going to:

Beekeeping Essay Contest sponsored by the Foundation for the
Preservation of Honey Bees; open to
all youth with state and national
awards. Deadline: Jan. 10, 2013.

4-H Quilt Challenge &
Community Service Project New changes will allow more youth to
be involved—details at http://

Quilt Challenge focuses on quilts for
Project Linus or adult patriotic quilts
for service people through the Quilts
of Valor program.
All quilts must be registered on 4-H
Connect by April 15 and delivered by
May 1, 2013.
Community service portion focuses on
the creation and donation of blankets,
afghans and quilts to Project Linus or
a local charity selected by the indi-
vidual or group.
Our goal is to donate 254 blankets to
charity before Roundup 2013.

complete and signed by your Club manager BEFORE it is turned in, or the show superintendents will not accept the entry on the day of tag in.
