CRA Swap Meet
Arlington-Fairfax IWLA’s Cub Run Archers (CRA) will host our second annual outdoor equipment Swap Meet and Sale for IWLA members and the general public on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Field Archery Indoor Range. The event benefits Cub Run Archers to raise needed funds, allow sellers to rent tables to dispose of unwanted equipment, and provide buyers with an opportunity to uncover hard-to-find items and discover some incredible bargains. (Photo by Yvonne Johnson) Last year we rented 19 of 28 available sales tables in spite of a late start and had a steady stream of buyers. CRA is requesting voluntary donations in lieu of an admission fee. The club is also soliciting equipment donations for sale at the club table. Only table buyers will be allowed to sell at the swap meet. All private firearm and ammunition sales will be in strict accordance with Federal and Virginia law. Prospective sellers should contact Steve Johnson at [email protected] (preferred method) or (703) 887-3145 for a table sales package. Information will also be available on-line at www.cubrunarchers.org. Doors will open to the public at 0900. Stephen P. (Steve) Johnson

Page 7 VDGIF Archery/Bowhunting Referrals
VDGIF, in the form of David Dodson, Mindy Tucker, and Jason Miller, came to speak to the VBA Delegate meeting on Sunday for a little while They are interested in partnering with VBA. They explained they get a fair amount of calls from folks wanting to start archery hunting but they don’t know where to start. They said that typically, these folks are in their early 20s, but it is possible to get folks older and/or younger. VBA would like to vec-tor those folks to VBA Clubs. The person would contact the Club and then visit and link up with folks at the Club. Their visit could range from just talking about what bow to buy to archery instruction to how to put up a stand. There is no requirement to take the person hunting (but that is certainly ac-ceptable if the Club wanted to do that). I don’t think there is a huge number of folks calling VDGIF; meaning I don’t think we’ll be overwhelmed with hundreds of folks wanting to talk to a Club. It’s probably more like a few a month. This is a good thing for both organizations: It brings new, younger folks in to bowhunting and/or ar-chery and is a source of new members for the Club and VBA. Both us and VDGIF want a good “hand-off” of the person from VDGIF to the Club so we don’t lose the person in the middle. The idea is we have a few folks designated at each Club that the new hunter could contact and link up with. It is key that the designated folks understand that they are designated and understand the expecta-tion. What we do not want is a prospective hunter to contact a Club and be told “We don’t know what you’re talking about”. I think the chances are slim of that because it seems every Club I’ve talked to WELCOME new shooters/hunters and can’t wait to help them get started shooting. ACTION: We’d like each Club to designate a couple folks as POCs for this. I’ll pass the list to VDGIF along with a map of where each of our Clubs are, and then VDGIF will vector people that contact them to the right Club and POC. I need name, email, and phone. Can be yourself if you want; there’s no restrictions there. We just want someone that understands what we’re trying to do and that can honcho the new shooter/hunter into the Club to the right folks to get them started. If you would let me know your designated folks in the next week or so, I would very much appreciate it! Thanks much, Larry Larry Readal VBA Publicity Director
