Later they also inspected several parks of the district including Echo Park located on the bank of river Jhelum at Khadniyar Baramulla where the DDC got the first hand appraisal of various ongoing works. He also discussed various modalities with the con- cerned agencies for the es- tablishment of Children Park, for which the land has been identified in the vicinity of the said park. The DDC took an ap- praisal of the development of cycle track as a move to promote adventure tourism.Speaking on the oc- casion, DDC said that vari- ous measures have been taken to promote tourism in the district adding that the sector constitutes an impor- tant component in eco- nomic development. He stressed upon the con- cerned agencies to speed up the pace of work on the de- velopmental projects taken in the tourism sector so that these works are completed within the stipulated time frame. Moreover, he exhorted them to abide by the guide- lines and SOPs issued in connection with the COVID-19 outbreak for mit- igating the risk of infection. B’la DDC, Director Tourism review development projects of tourism sector HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, JULY 01 19 more COVID-19 pa- tients admitted at SKIMS Bemina (JVC) were dis- charged today after success- ful completion of treatment and testing negative before discharge.With this the number of COVID-19 re- covered patient's moves to 498 out of total COVID pos- itive admitted patients numbering 630 till date. The recovery rate at pre- sent is more than 790 and with five fatalities, the mor- tality rate is 0.79 percent. The treated patients in- clude COVID positive pa- tients admitted for mater- nity care wherein till date 44 deliveries of COVID positive pregnant ladies including 25 major surgeries (LSCS) for child birth have been done.Besides this, the COVID Testing Lab at SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bemina is con- ducting more than 500 Tests daily and till date 23756 tests have been con- ducted. Covid-19: 19 discharged, after recovery from SKIMS HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, JULY 01 Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir Wednesday said that only those shop- keepers that test negative and attended mandatory training on COVID-19 shall be allowed to operate their businesses. He said the shopkeepers of the Bandipora town from Nussu to Kaloosa including Khadim Market, Shops on Ajar-DC Office Road shall operate on alternate days with shops located on right side (East-Side) on one day and shops located on left- Side (West Side) on other day from Wednesday on- wards. The DC directed the shop- keepers to strictly ensure that they shall display their negative test reports and certificate of having at- tended COVID19 training on entry of the shop and shall keep record of the cus- tomers with basic details on a daily basis. The shopkeepers have also been directed to ensure adequate social distancing among customers and shall keep sanitzers on the front desk of the shop besides keeping masks available in the shop. He however directed the shopkeepers not to sell items to those customers who are without masks. Mir urged the shopkeep- ers to cooperate with the district administration to prevent spread of virus and added that the shops shall remain closed on Sundays and the business hours shall start from 9 am to 5 pm and night curfew shall continue to remain in place in the dis- trict.Earlier Mir inspected the lockdown measures and imposition of restrictions in the town amid COVID19 pandemic. He appealed to the people of Bandipora town to coop- erate with the medical teams dealing with COVID by ensuring their tests are done for the wellbeing of the society. Mir said a special sample collection centre shall be es- tablished at Government Middle School Branch Bandipora for the conve- nience of the shopkeepers and asked the CMO Bandi- pora to ensure samples of shopkeepers are taken for testing. He said the precautionary measures are the only solu- tion to break the chain of spread of virus and the sit- uation may go out of hand if people neglect adopting precautionary measures as is being witnessed in some parts of the country. Shopkeepers to operate only after testing negative: DC B’pora HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, JULY 01 The district administration Anantnag in collaboration with Department of Preven- tive and Social Medicine, GMC Anantnag today orga- nized a Sensitization cum Awareness Camp at Pahal- gam tourist club. The camp was inaugurated by District Magistrate (DM) Anantnag, K K Sidha flanked by ADC Gh. Hassan Sheikh The DM said that due to pandemic there is no tourist activity at famous tourist des- tination Pahalgam and as such district administration in collaboration with GMC has taken an initiative to sensi- tise and aware all stakehold- ers including hoteliers, pony- wals and other businesses communities to start business activities after following all SOPs and medical guidelines. In this regard a practical training session for trans- porters, ponywalls and other business houses was demon- strated in front of the DM. The DM said that the dis- trict administration will pro- vide free masks, face shields and sanitizers to the stake- holders to prevent transmis- sion of virus. He said the objective of the camp was to aware the hote- liers, restaurant runners ,fast food outlets, chefs, cooks, frontline workers and others to follow SOPs and guidelines with regard to covid-19 to pre- vent and protect themselves and visitors from the infec- tion. He also said that such awareness camps are needed for the hour and people must obey the guidelines, advises and SOPs given out by the medical fraternity and disaster management authority of Anantnag to make tourist destinations like Pahalgam and other related stations free from this pandemic. The doctors and experts from Department of Preven- tive and Social Medicine, GMC Anantnag, Dr Mehbooba Rasool, Dr Ifan Naqashbandi, Dr Khursheed created awareness among the stakeholders of the dos and don'ts of the Covid-19 to pre- vent spread of virus. Sensitisation-cum-awareness camp on COVID-19 held at Pahalgam HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, JULY 01 Principal Chief Conser- vator of Forests & HoFF, Dr. Mohit Gera, along with Conservator of Forests, East Circle, Jammu, Samuel Changkija, con- ducted 2 day tour of far- flung areas of Udhampur, Dudu and Basantgarh. During the Tour, the PCCF e-inaugurated one day Web Based Training programme organized for the front-line staff of the Forest Department from Udhampur Forest Division. Thereafter, he inspected Fire Control Room at Divi- sion Head Quarter and in- structed the staff to keep close vigil with cooperation of local people to prevent wild fire. He asked them to make use of locally de- signed fire-fighting tools like Rakes, Daratis, Fire Beaters as they are better suited to local field condi- tions. Later, the PCCF long with CF East inspected the CAMPA closures of Bhangara Block in Co. 50 & Co. 55. The staff members were directed to enhance the par- ticipation of local commu- nities in protection and management wherein they can be provided with usufructs like grasses and MFPs. The inspection of the plantation Unit in Co. 98/D Margana, Dudu Range was also conducted. The PCCF directed the staff to conduct an exercise to assess the survival and performance of different planted species along with extent of natural regeneration. On the last leg of the tour, the PCCF inspected CAMPA closures of Co. 63 & 70 Basantgarh, besides Thandapani Nursery where the directions were issued to upgrade the nursery spe- cially for raising of quality plants of Chir pine and Banj Oak for gap planting in the nearby forests. Improved methods of seed treatment and nursery technology were also ex- plained to the staff and they were directed to upgrade the nursery infrastructure using local materials. A detailed plan was also finalized for raising of best quality saplings for coming years by utilizing only local seed from best sources. The tour concluded with the inspection of chain link fencing in Kirmoo in south range of Ramnagar Forest Division, where directions were issued for carrying out pruning & training of local species like Phalai & Tali and initiate assisted natural regeneration of existing stock. In this connection it is clarified that the existing system of payment of stamp duty shall continue to be a mode of payment of stamp duty in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir till further order” the Govern- ment clarified. Nearly thirty BDC chairper- sons from various districts were met here on Wednesday accused the Governor’s ad- ministration of complete fail- ure in curbing corruption. In his presidential address, Shafiq Mir, Chairman All J and K Panchayat Conference demanded investigation into the COVID related expenses done by Deputy Commission- ers in their respective districts. He added that large numbers of fake Bill's worth crores of ru- pees have been drawn during lockdown by the officials. He asked the government to hold a probe over the utilization of funds by the Deputy Commis- sioners worth crores of rupees sanctioned by the government amid COVID-19 pandemic. Mir said that more than one year has passed of PRI elec- tions conducted in J&K UT but till date not a single penny has been allotted to BDC Chairpersons for develop- ment purposes. He said that there is a complete political deadlock and vaccum in both Kashmir and Jammu regions of the Union Territory of J&K as the people have lost faith in political parties and leaders who for the last more than 70 years not only lied with people of both the regions but also ex- ploited them on the name of region and religion. AJKPC seeks probe over funds utilized by DCs amid COVID-19 pandemic, threatens stir HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, JULY 01 District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh Tara today flagged off mobile Van to carry out the second round of distribu- tion of Immunity Boosters (Ayush) medicines across the District. The immunity boosters are to be distributed by ISM (AYUSH) in collaboration with Health Department through Mobile Medical Unit Kishtwar. District Nodal Officer ISM (AYUSH), Dr. Taraq Hussain informed that the second phase will cover the areas lacking ISM dispen- sary, while the Immunity Booster (AYUSH) Medicine would be distributed to Frontline Workers and Se- nior Citizens among the vast population of the densely populated District. The aim of the depart- ment is to cover 100% popu- lation of Senior Citizens, frontline workers, Officer and Officials who are work- ing day and night to combat the spread of virus. The Im- munity Booster medicines develop strong immunity against the deadly virus, he added. In the first phase, Immu- nity Booster (AYUSH) Med- icines were distributed to frontline workers/ Police officer and officials, CRPF, CISF, all departments of Mini-Secretariat Kishtwar, all quarantine centers, Se- nior Citizens, District Hos- pital Kishtwar (Doctors and paramedical Staff), employ- ees of Municipal Committee Kishtwar, BDO offices, PRIs etc. The total beneficiaries covered in the Ist phase were 22268–which started from April 4, 2020 and ended on June 30-2020. Kishtwar DDC flags off 2nd phase distribution of Immunity Booster (Ayush) Medicines HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, JULY 01 One day Training on e- auction system for offi- cers of Agriculture, Horti- culture and CAD departments was today organized by National Informatics Center (NIC) here at Krishi Bhawan. The Training was orga- nized by Joint Direc- torate of Agriculture (In- puts) Jammu on the directions and guidance of Director Agriculture Jammu, Inder Jeet. Per- tinently this was the first of its kind training held by NIC in Union Terri- tory of J&K. Technical session was conducted by resource persons from J&K Na- tional Informatics Cen- ter (NIC), Sh Deepak Ba- jaj and Sumit Kapoor, Senior Programmers. Practical Demonstration on various aspects of e- auction including online registration, uploading of required information, receiving and filtering the requests by the bid- ders etc were covered in length during the train- ing. The electronic auc- tion system is cost/ time saving and creates a dy- namic environment for easier business. NIC trains agriculture, allied deptts in e-auction system HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, JULY 01 In order to provide a plat- form to the young college and school students of Jammu and Kashmir, the Department of English GDC Doda in collaboration with Indian Academic Re- searchers Association (JK Wing) organised an online poetry competition. The competition was organised under the guidance and pa- tronage of Commissioner Secretary to Higher Educa- tion Department J&K Mr Talat Parvez Rohilla and Principal GDC Doda Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi. HoD English Prof Falak was the Convener of the event where as Dr Jamsheed Ahmad was the Chief Organiser. The flyer for the competi- tion was e-released by the department on 5th June 2020 and the result was de- clared on 30th June. With an overwhelming response, around 220 poems were re- ceived from different parts of the Union Territory. In the first step of the competition a team of fac- ulty Dr Attied Khawar Bal- wan, Dr Farooq Ahmed and Mr Mohd Abbas thoroughly checked and shortlisted the top twenty poems. The shortlisted poems were checked for plagiarism and sent to three judges for the final judgement. It is pertinent mention here that in order to maintain trans- parency and impartiality the poems were evaluated through a blind review. While talking to this cor- respondent the chief organ- iser of the event Dr Jamsheed Ahmad said, "We had planned to publish the top fifty poems in the form of a book but only around twenty poems have been found to be worth publish- ing so we will take a decision on this issue later on. How- ever we assure the winners that the top three poems will be published in an in- ternational journal in case we won't find enough num- ber of poems for the book". He further added that to en- sure a fair judgement the shortlisted poems were coded and the name, ad- dress and educational affili- ation of the students were removed. The immunity boostersare to be distributed by ISM(AYUSH) in collaborationwith Health Departmentthrough Mobile MedicalUnit Kishtwar.

District Nodal OfficerISM (AYUSH), Dr. TaraqHussain informed that thesecond phase will cover theareas lacking ISM dispen-sary, while the Immunity

Booster (AYUSH) Medicinewould be distributed toFrontline Workers and Se-nior Citizens among thevast population of thedensely populated District.

The aim of the depart-ment is to cover 100% popu-lation of Senior Citizens,frontline workers, Officerand Officials who are work-ing day and night to combatthe spread of virus. The Im-munity Booster medicinesdevelop strong immunityagainst the deadly virus, headded.

In the first phase, Immu-nity Booster (AYUSH) Med-icines were distributed tofrontline workers/ Policeofficer and officials, CRPF,

CISF, all departments ofMini-Secretariat Kishtwar,all quarantine centers, Se-nior Citizens, District Hos-pital Kishtwar (Doctors andparamedical Staff), employ-ees of Municipal CommitteeKishtwar, BDO offices, PRIsetc.

The total beneficiariescovered in the Ist phasewere 22268–which startedfrom April 4, 2020 andended on June 30-2020.

auction system for offi-cers of Agriculture, Horti-culture and CADdepartments was todayorganized by NationalInformatics Center(NIC) here at KrishiBhawan.

The Training was orga-nized by Joint Direc-torate of Agriculture (In-puts) Jammu on thedirections and guidanceof Director AgricultureJammu, Inder Jeet. Per-tinently this was the firstof its kind training heldby NIC in Union Terri-tory of J&K.

Technical session wasconducted by resourcepersons from J&K Na-tional Informatics Cen-ter (NIC), Sh Deepak Ba-jaj and Sumit Kapoor,Senior Programmers.

Practical Demonstrationon various aspects of e-auction including onlineregistration, uploadingof required information,receiving and filteringthe requests by the bid-ders etc were covered inlength during the train-ing. The electronic auc-tion system is cost/ timesaving and creates a dy-namic environment foreasier business.

In order to provide a plat-form to the young collegeand school students ofJammu and Kashmir, theDepartment of EnglishGDC Doda in collaborationwith Indian Academic Re-searchers Association (JKWing) organised an onlinepoetry competition. Thecompetition was organisedunder the guidance and pa-tronage of CommissionerSecretary to Higher Educa-tion Department J&K MrTalat Parvez Rohilla andPrincipal GDC Doda DrShafqat Hussain Rafiqi.

HoD English Prof Falakwas the Convener of theevent where as DrJamsheed Ahmad was theChief Organiser.

The flyer for the competi-tion was e-released by thedepartment on 5th June2020 and the result was de-clared on 30th June. Withan overwhelming response,around 220 poems were re-ceived from different partsof the Union Territory.

In the first step of thecompetition a team of fac-ulty Dr Attied Khawar Bal-wan, Dr Farooq Ahmed and

Mr Mohd Abbas thoroughlychecked and shortlisted thetop twenty poems.

The shortlisted poemswere checked for plagiarismand sent to three judges forthe final judgement. It ispertinent mention here thatin order to maintain trans-parency and impartialitythe poems were evaluatedthrough a blind review.

While talking to this cor-respondent the chief organ-iser of the event DrJamsheed Ahmad said, "Wehad planned to publish thetop fifty poems in the formof a book but only aroundtwenty poems have beenfound to be worth publish-ing so we will take a decisionon this issue later on. How-ever we assure the winnersthat the top three poemswill be published in an in-ternational journal in casewe won't find enough num-ber of poems for the book".He further added that to en-sure a fair judgement theshortlisted poems werecoded and the name, ad-dress and educational affili-ation of the students wereremoved. Only the text ofthe poems was forwarded tothe judges.
