Dear Sädharmik Members, Jai Jinendra.
On behalf of BOT & EC members, we like to extend warmest wishes for 2015!
We sincerely thank all the devoted volunteers, generous donors, dedicated staff and great
team work of committee members for making year 2014 a memorable year with unique
events and accomplishments on religious, spiritual and cultural front. Amazing in-house
production by Pathasala youth “Life 2 Liberation”, Ahimsa walk, Vegan day and launching
JSMC mobile application portal are among many unique events. Last year, for efficient
operation, we established several policies and procedures, reorganize chart of accounts
and initiated expense budget. With visionary approach of board, for the first time we
established reserve funds. To continue interaction and visibility of the past JSMC leaders,
prominent members and donors of the society, board also inducted JSMC’s first Advisory
council.
As JSMC continues to move forward in redefining itself into many areas, year 2015 is
going to be major milestone, as we are in a process of amending our constitution. With
successful execution of Lifetime Supporter drive, we established permanent funds of
~$220k a year with about 450 family participation and we urge all the members to join in
noble initiative to raise this perseverance funds. For the facility improvements,
construction committee is progressing on various projects, including establishing south
side storage facility, renovation of bathrooms and dining area vestibule, establishing
security/reception desk and finishing ceiling and dome in temple.
Your cooperation and contribution have always encouraged our team. With unity and
your enthusiastic support, we will truly succeed in our mission of raising the bar of service
for Jains religious and community need in Chicagoland.

Mar 27 - Apr 4: Ayambil Oli, April 4 - 5: Mahavir Janma Kalyanak Celebration
JSMC is honored to have Shri Shrenikbhai Gala, from Mumbai during Ayambil Oli and Mahavir Janma Kalyanak. Shrenikbhai is a very learned scholar in Jainism. In his spiritual journey he studied Bhashyas and Karmagranths. He also completed his Diploma in Jainology from Mumbai University. With his deep knowledge on Jainism, he is been conducting Paryushanas all over the world. He has performed many Jain Pujans. He also has conducted lecture series on a various religious topics at Jain society of Houston, San Diego, Miami, California, and Columbus.
We request all members to join daily lectures held during Ayambil Oli. Daily Ayambils will be conducted during Ayambil Oli. We request volunteers help during Ayambil Oli. JSMC welcomes sponsorship for daily Ayambil Aaradhana. We have received $1,008 donation towards Ayambil Oli from an Anonymous donor. JSMC appreciates your generosity.

Contestant Guidelines Registration deadline: Sunday, Mar 29, 2015
Each contestant is allowed a maximum of 5 minutes; bell will ring at 4 minutes mark. Penalty for taking extra time.
Contestant may deliver their speech in English or Gujarati or Hindi
Contestant will be judged based on following criteria
Introduction: 10 points
Material: 40 points (Jain Principles, originality)
Presentation: 20 points (speed, tone of voice, eye contact)
Conclusion: 10 points (Restating, concluding topics)
Uniqueness: 20 points
Final score will be determined by adding 3 judges’ scores
Ties shall be resolved by discussion among the judges

Twenty-Padas of Vis-Sthanaka that are necessary to attain Tirthankara Nam-Karma
Jains believe in soul, salvation, other world, good deeds, sins, action and religion. They admit that good deeds lead to happiness and sins to misery. So every soul should store Punya by performing good deeds. Those who desire to become supreme-being Paramätmä should devote themselves to scared deeds and devotional worship of Vimsati-sthanaka. A would be Tirthankar attain sufficient Punya to be Paramätmä by worshipping some of these twenty elements less of more with deep devotion in the third birth prior to his last birth. Assuredly a soul cannot become a Tirthankar without this worship.

1. Daily Ayambil RSVP is required for Aymbil at JSMC or Food Pick-up. You can collect Daily Ayambil PASSes in Advance once you RSVP.
2. Ayambil Food Pickup will be arranged towards the completion of seated Tapasvi Ayambils.
3. For Pick-up, also, RSVP is required. Food Pick-up with PASS will get priority over walk-ins.
4. JSMC encourages all Ayambil tapasvis to bring your own utensils and avoid Paper products usage during Tapasya. We will pro-vide logistics to clean utensils.

Monthly Snatra Pooja on every Besto Mahino for the year
We are pleased to announce a new opportunity to sponsor a Snatra Pooja on each month on the day of Besto Mahino for the entire year – only for $401/year. Year is defined as Diwali (Kartak Mas) to Diwali (Aaso Mas). Snatra Pooja will be conducted by Mahila Mandal. Registration Fee: Adult: $15 (per person) & $12 (Children, age 12 & below). Registration fee covers Bowling, Shoe Rental, and Refreshments.
Light refreshment with Indian Snacks will be served at 11:30am and bowling will start at 12:30pm. Cosmic Bowling with Music will be the added attraction, so please do not miss the fun. Special General Body Meeting: The Board of Trustees have announced a Special General Body meeting (SGM) to
approve proposed additions and amendments to the JSMC Constitution and the approval of new by-laws submitted by the Constitution Amendment Committee. We encourage you to attend the SGM on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Jain Center prayer hall. You must have received the details of proposal along with current provisions in a separate mail. If you like to receive extra copy, please contact JSMC office.

Financial Update
Updates on Facility Improvement projects We have made tremendous progress in defining the scope and assigning contracts for various facility improvements projects. Our Construction Committee members have reviewed various bids and finalizing contracts for Southside Storage facility near old stage area and we are targeting to complete the task in second quarter. We are currently reviewing various architectural schematics for bathrooms renovation, vestibule renovation in dining area and reception/security desk and targeting to complete the work before Paryushana. To finish the unfinished in temple, we are reviewing options of establishing beautiful dome and decorative ceilings in temple and hallway.
We are happy to share that starting this year we have started setting up yearly expense budget. Based on this budget we will monitor our expenses and manage the progress of JSMC. If you have any question about the budget, please contact Atul Shah, Himanshu Jain or Sunil F. Shah.

Lifetime Supporter of JSMC
We are glad to see increased number of Lifetime Supporter in 2014. Below is the list of Donors who have pledged for Lifetime Supporter of the JSMC, so far. If you haven’t participated to support JSMC, below are the criteria for this scheme.
1. “Lifetime Supporter” pledge is considered as a general donation and can not be converted towards any other pledges and/or Gheeboli.
2. Minimum $365 donation for every year for lifetime is requested to become a Lifetime Supporter of JSMC.
3. Donors can opt-out or update the amount as they feel necessary.
4. An automated invoice will be generated and mailed out to all the donors of Lifetime Supporter scheme at the beginning of the year.

JSMC Library Update
We are very pleased to share that JSMC Library is being reorganized with help of lots of Volunteers. Just recently group of volunteers work over multiple weekends and applied barcode to 4000+ Library books. With Barcoding Books, now members can easily check-in/out books. Huge tanks to Jigar Shah, Manish Shah, and Ketki Shah—who have worked very hard to come up with this idea and implement it. This team also bought a Barcode Scanning machine and hooked it to Library Application in computer.
If you haven’t visited Library in recent past, go check out what’s new! And experience the easy check-in/out process yourself! Library hours: 1st and 3rd Sunday—11am to 1pm.

Pathshala
Pathshala Registration for year 2015
Year 2015 enrollment is now open – visit www.jsmcmember.org or contact Piyush Gandhi
Pathshala Registration Fee is $35 per each student per year (current and new).
Registration fee after April 1st will be $40 (additional $5)
Pathshala Classes are held 1st and 3rd Sunday each month.
Registration Fee includes all Pathshala book, book bag and lunch after each class for all participating students.
Pathshala Lunch Sponsorship
JSMC Pathshala Lunch Sponsorship for the year 2015 is available. You can sponsor the Pathshala Lunch for donation of $501. Sponsoring a Pathshala lunch would be an excellent opportunity to celebrate special events such as Birthdays, and, either your or your loved one’s Anniversaries!

As you know we recently launched RSVP for Pathshala Lunch and its going great. We have received some positive feedback on this initiative. You can always RSVP at http://www.jsmconline.org/rsvp.asp. In future we will use similar RSVP structure/process for all other major events of JSMC, especially when it involves Swamivatsalyas.
The LOCK-IN - On Feb 7th
2015 we had event, exclusively designed for JSMC kids - Lock IN. There were more than 150 kids who enjoyed the event. The event started with Samuh Arti and stuti. During the event kids enjoyed jumping on the inflatables, playing minute to win it games, dancing on beats, playing table tennis followed by midnight movie and pizza. Later we served delicious ras-puri dinner with fresh dhokala. To make the event educational, we had a learning session about Robotics, Lego creations and math puzzles. The Young Juggler show was a bonus!! It was difficult for us to say good bye to kids in the morning after having warm pancakes for the breakfast. All the activities were designed by Volunteers!! We wouldn’t have done this without these wonderful volunteers!! This is JSMC way to treat our kids for their hard work. Hope they enjoyed it!
