A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square northerly of and between numbered locations 15H and 15h as shown on Sheet 16 of Plan D-13788 for the Hollywood Walk ofFame for the installation of the name of John Langley at 6667 Hollywood Boulevard.

B. Inf01m the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce of the Council's action on this matter.

C. That this rep01i be adopted prior to the date of the ceremony on February 11, 2011.

DISCUSSION:

The Walle ofFame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insertion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame the name ofDonald Sutherland. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, February 11, 2011 at 4:00p.m.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Cmmcil action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council ' s action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23".

The star for JOHN LANGLEY will be situated in the second row next to the star of Randy Newman also in the second row, closest to the bu ilding. His star will be near the stars of JOHN BARRYMORE ( 15H) to the west and BUCK OWENS wh ich is numbered (15h) to the east. Both stars are in the original row. JOHN LANGLEY

A director, writer, and producer of te levision and film, John Langley is best known as the creator and executive producer of the long-running, critically acclaimed television show COPS. But John has recently made the successful transition to feature films. In 2010, Langley's company produced two major theatrical films - BROOKLYN'S FINEST (directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke and Ellen Barkin) and LEA YES OF GRASS (starring Edward Norton and Susan Sarandon).

Langley's success has resulted in a well-deserved star on the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, an honor he is receiving on February 11, 20 11.

Currently in its 23rd season, with over 800 episodes aired, the success of COPS has certified Langley's place in television history, breaking records for primetime network television, making it one of the longest running series in TV history. A true pioneer of the reality television phenomenon, John Langley has established himself as one of the premiere visionaries in the entertainment world and has since moved on to many various projects for both television and film . He and his son Morgan Langley also produce the successful non-fiction series JAIL (Spike TV), STREET PATROL (TruTV) and VEGAS METRO (TruTV) ..

Langley has received numerous recognitions for COPS, including the American Television Award, four Emmy nominations and a 2008 Peabody Award nomination. In addition, he received the Cine Golden Eagle Award and was the Houston International Film Festival winner for the documentary COCAINE BLUES.

In 1995, Langley Films was established to create and produce independent theatrical motion pictures. Since then, Langley has produced and directed various films including DOGWATCH, starring Sam Elliott, Esai Morales and Paul Sorvino ,TIPTOES, a quirky drama starring Matthew McConaughey, Kate Beckinsale, Gary Oldman and Patricia Arquette and WILDSIDE, an erotic thriller starring Anne Heche, Christopher Walk.en and Joan Chen. Other features developed produced by Langley Films include REALITY CHECK, the true crime story, VAMPIRE CLAN, SEARCH & DESTROY with Martin Scorcese as executive producer, GUNFIGHTER'S MOON and DEADLY SINS, a psychological thriller starring David Keith and Alyssa Milano.

Langley is also extremely involved in multiple charitable organizations, both as an active supporter and donor. John is also a trustee on the board ofthe IDA -International Documentary Association he lping young film makers.

In addition to his work as a producer, Langley has two major hobbies/interests that have been very successful - as a race car impresario who has been very successful on the Off Road road racing circuit (he was recently nominated for Rookie of the Year and his team won the Baja 1000 in 2009) and his successful wine label, Urraca (world-class Argentine wine) .

Walk of Fame: Chairman John PavWc recommended the following stars for inclusion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

MOTION PICTURES: Penelope Cruz, Bruce Dem, Laura Dem, Diane Ladd, Ed Harris, The Muppets, Kenny Ortega, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ridley Scott, Sissy Spacek, Donald Sutherland and Reese Witherspoon.

TELEVISION: Danny DeVito, Tina Fey, Simon Fuller, Neil Patrick Harris, John Langley, Ed O'Neill, John Wells, and Oprah Winfrey.

RECORDING: Melissa Etheridge, Los Tigres Del Norte, Rascal Platts, Go-Go's, Slash, Will i. Am, and Bebe & Cece Winans. Posthumous: Buddy Holly and Louis Prima

LIVE PERFORMANCE/THEATRE: Joe Mantegna

Motion by Goldman and seconded by Diehl to approve the recommendation. Motion Carried.
