The cab is highly versatile to meet the needs of those who live and work in their vehicle.The bunk dimensions and the use of innovativematerials make the cab living area verycomfortable.The lower bunk measures746x2020mm and is available as the standardthree piece version or as an optional one piececomfort version.The sections within thestandard three piece version can be folded backflat against the rear wall of the cab.The centralpart to create an extensive living area, a tablethat fold’s out of the bunk swab measuring580/545mm.The comfort seat also folds outfrom the passenger side bunk swab.This may beused by the driver when the vehicle is parkedor by a passenger while the vehicle is in motionas it is fitted with a safety belt.The one piece bunk offers the best opportunityfor resting and is equipped with a generous 100

litre sliding storage compartment, whichdoubles as a small table with two convenientcup holders and central storage area positioned alongside the refrigerator on boththe Stralis AS3 and AS Super3.The Stralis AS3 and AS Super3 can alsooptionally be supplied with a range ofconventional passenger seats, the base seatbeing an air suspended version.The Stralis AS3 may also be equipped with anadditional comfort backrest for relaxation.In the AS Super3, the upper bunk comes witha dampened system for fast, easy deployment.The mattress is supported by slats and measures 784x1940 mm.An aluminium telescopic ladder provides easy access,whilst the space inside the cab can be put to fulluse as the bunk can be folded flat against the rear wall.

The adjustable steering column and airsuspended 3–way adjustable, heated, lumbersupport seat with integral safety belt (all cabvariants), makes it possible for all drivers tofind there ideal driving position.The reach of the driver and passenger seatmay be adjusted through 220mm.The centralpart of the seat upholstery is in Alfa-tec, amicrofibre fabric that combines the bestcomfort, practicality and style and ensures alevel of durability equal to that of the fabricaround the outer edges.

The floor is coated with an innovative material(polyurethane) that is more resistant to wearthan conventional carpeting and is easier toclean (essential for on board comfort).The interior lighting is very practical, two newspotlights have been incorporated on theupper roof panel and they may be activated viathe dashboard or rear wall switches.The door panel is equipped with a practicalconcealed compartment that is convenient forstowing small objects that need to be keptwithin easy reach.

DRIVING CONVENIENCE

The Stralis AS3 and AS Super3 boast optionalcutting-edge on-board devices.The concealedsatellite navigation system, for example,is intuitive and shows the fastest way to reachany destination.The vehicle also offers state-of-the-art active safety features.The 4x2tractor range, for example, can be fitted withan ESP (Electronic Stability Control) system.This device guarantees stability underany driving condition controlling vehiclemovement without driver intervention therebymaking the vehicle easier to manageunder emergency situations.The Iveco Research and Development Centrehas worked tirelessly to create a large rangeof systems to support the driver, which may becombined with the ESP.Hill Holder, a device available on versions

with EuroTronic gearboxes see pg 15, allowseasy, safe hill starts under all gradient and loadconditions by preventing the vehicle from rollingback for a few seconds during hill starts.Lane DepartureWarning System, an optionalfeature that acoustically notifies the driver whenthe vehicle strays from the lane withoutthe directional indicators being operated.Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) helps thedriver to keep a safe distance from the vehicle infront by automatically operating in sequence theengine brake, the Intarder and the service brake.For missions over arduous routes, the Stralis AS3

Active Space Super3 offers the comfortexpected from a flagship product.There isample living space: the AS Super3 cab boasts avolume in excess of 10 cubic metres, with theActive Space3 offering approximately 8 cubicmetres.The upper front section of the AS Super3 version houses numerous storage compartments.The front upper compartments have doorswhile the lower ones are open.The uppercompartments offer plenty of space and thecentral box, in particular, measures 450x780mm. One of the lower compartments on thedriver’s side was designed specifically to houseelectronic equipment, with wiring for other

equipment and infotainment - the digitaltachograph, satellite navigation reader (availableas an option) and a radio/CD (that the drivercan adjust using steering wheel controls).The Active Space cab also houses manycompartments designed for storing personalitems, folders, maps and tools.The lower front compartments are as on theAS Super3 version.There are generous compartments beneatheither side of the lower bunk, with arefrigerator on the driver’s side.Optionally available is a sliding central storagecompartment/small table (only available incombination with the one piece bunk).

The design of the Stralis AT/AD cabs isoutstanding, from the new colour scheme ofthe dashboard to the fabrics, which make theinterior environment attractive and relaxing;encompassing textured soft touch details onthe dashboard.The steering wheel features a satinised Ivecologo.The ICD (Iveco Colour Display) colour screen,featuring instruments with white backlighting,has been designed to reduce driver fatigue and

Cursor engines are the only engines equippedwith a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT)in the heavy transport sector.Available in 8, 10 and 13 litre versions, theycover a power range from 310 bhp to 560 bhpand are already fully compliant with theEuropean Community Euro 5 Directivecontrolling exhaust emissions.The 6 cylinder in-line configuration withoverhead camshaft and rear distributionensure compact size, fewer components and,above all, great structural rigidity.

These characteristics ensure less vibration,lower noise and smooth and sure-footedoperation in all situations for better comfortand durability.The Cursor’s power can becalled on at all times because the torquecurves peak below 1000 rpm and stay at thesame level throughout their range ofapplication.These powerful, reliable engines aredesigned to offer outstanding performance andalso low running costs.They offer superiordriving comfort assured by their extraordinaryflexibility.

With 10,000 cc capacity with 6 cylinders in line and a VGT, the Cursor 10is available on the Stralis AS3 and AS Super3 (450bhp only), AT and AD intwo power levels that both comply with the Euro 5 Directive on exhaustemissions requirements.The 420 bhp is advised for heavy-duty transporton regional and national routes and for specific applications such asvehicle transport, tanker transport and high volume transport.The 450 bhp version is excellent for national and international routes,flat routes, mixed routes and demanding routes.The variable geometry turbocharger makes a significant contribution tomaintaining engine performance at high levels.

CURSOR 10The Cursor 13, with 500 and 560 bhp – is only available on the StralisAS3 and Super3. It meets the Euro 5 Directive exhaust emissionrequirements and offers a capacity of 12,880 cc and 6 cylinders in line.The 500 bhp version is ideal for long-range heavy-duty transport overnational and international routes and for specific applications such asbulk transport, tankers, high volumes and refrigerated transport.Those who require long-range applications over difficult routes withpriority for average commercial speed are advised to opt for the 560bhp power unit. Both engines are equipped with a VGT that helps keeppower unit performance high while improving the performance of theIveco Turbo Brake (ITB) decompression engine brake.

The Cursor 8 is available in three power levels – 310 bhp with aconventional turbo, 330 and 360 bhp with a VGT. It offers a cylindercapacity of 7790 cc with 6 cylinders in line and is already compliantwith Euro 5 Directive emission levels well in advance of the EUdeadline set for October 2009.The 310 and 330 bhp Cursor 8 enginesavailable on the Stralis AD and AT are recommended for distribution or municipal applications, while the 360 bhp engine is ideal for tractorsand missions requiring maximum payload (for example, tankers and de-mountable bodies) or for vehicles used for short-range transportover relatively undemanding routes.

The Stralis range is already compliant with theEuro 5 emission control directive due to comeinto force in October 2009 in all countries of the European Union, well in advance of thelegal application deadline.To achieve thisextraordinary result, which is indicated by anew “E5” logo on the side of the cab, Cursorengines are fitted with SCR (Selective CatalyticReduction) technology for exhaust gas post-treatment to ensure reduced emissions of

particulate material into the atmosphere.This system involves the use of highly efficientengines, a catalytic converter instead of theusual silencer and a special reservoir for thereducing fluid (AdBlue), which is injectedupstream of the catalytic converter through an electronically-managed dosing system.The SCR technology is designed to workthroughout the vehicle’s entire life-time.It makes a particulate filter unnecessary,

does not require much servicing and helpsimprove vehicle productivity.This system brings benefits not only for theenvironment but also for anyone buying aStralis: more power and more torque for thesame cylinder capacity; lower weight; lowerfuel consumption due to an increase ininjection pressure; less energy uptake for heatdissipation – and fewer oil changes for thesame mileage.

The range of gearboxes available on the Stralis allows you to findthe option best suited to your own professional needs and your choiceof vehicle. Iveco uses the best components and engineering onthe market to ensure all the power and torque of the Cursor enginesare transferred to the drive wheels.The 12 speed EuroTronic ZF automated gearbox with electronicclutch control offers great driving comfort and numerous benefitsto customers: the automatic software applies economical driving principles to select the ideal ratio and protects the gearbox againstover-revving while reducing clutch wear, fuel consumption and acousticemissions.As an option, the automated gearbox may be equipped with a ZFIntarder that improves braking efficiency and reduces brake lining wear.

Iveco also offers an Allison 3200 automatic gearbox on the Stralis AT and AD in addition to the EuroTronic automated gearbox.This gearbox ensures peak drive transmissionefficiency for missions with frequent stops and starts, e.g. refuse collection. In this case,

the built-in torque converter is a hydraulicclutch not subject to wear that increases engine torque when an rpm difference occursbetween the power unit and gearbox.

All Stralis vehicles are equipped with frontand rear disc brakes controlled electronicallyby the EBS (Electronic Braking System)control unit that offers ABS (Anti-lock BrakingSystem),ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) and EBL(Electronic Brakeforce Limitation) plus anengine brake and Intarder that are activatedautomatically to minimise service brake wearand ensure that the vehicle decelerates in thebest way for the driving conditions.A widerange of rear axle ratios is available for fully-laden missions on motorways and dualcarriageways: low numerical ratios arerecommended for flat routes with the vehicle

Our ProductsWhether you are a fleet operator or a one-vehicle business, the way the finance is organised can significantly influence yourbottom line. Should you own the assets ormight it be to your financial advantage not to?Would it help to pay lower instalments upfront or pay a peppercorn rental later on?How should the VAT be handled?

Hire PurchaseHire purchase (HP) is a financial agreement in which the customer effectively hires a vehiclefrom Iveco Finance for an agreed fixed term at the end of which, upon payment of an agreednominal Option to Purchase fee, ownership passes to the customer.Whilst legal title in theasset will belong to Iveco Finance until the endof the agreement, the hirer is the RegisteredKeeper and may show the asset on their balance sheet and claim the appropriate WritingDown and Capital allowances.An initial depositis paid, together with the full VAT amount.Customers are then able to reclaim the VAT in their next returns.The HP instalments arebased on outstanding capital and interest. Oncethe Option to Purchase has been exercised,the customer is free to dispose of the asset,retaining the full proceeds from the sale.

Finance LeaseCompanies can lease Iveco vehicles withoutmaking a capital outlay that impacts their balancesheet.This means that they can channel financialresources into their core business.The vehicle ishired to the customer for a fixed period withoutthe option of ownership.At the end of the periodthe customer may choose to continue to rent the asset for a further period at a nominal rental (a peppercorn rental), or to act as an agent in thedisposal of the asset.The vehicle is shown as anasset in customer’s accounts balance sheet butCapital and Writing Down allowances are notallowed. However, the customer is further able tooffset the full amount of rentals, as they are paid,against future tax liability. Iveco Finance accountsfor the VAT liability of the asset and the customeris only liable for the VAT on the rentals as theybecome due.

Operating LeaseAn Operating Lease is an agreement where the asset is treated as an off balance sheet item.The agreement is issued with ReturnConditions, putting the onus on the customerto meet fixed parameters for vehicle conditionand mileage.The advantage of this arrangement is that rentals are significantly lower than under a Finance Lease.At the end of the agreement the customer can choose to extend the agreement or simplyreturn the vehicle, leaving Iveco Finance todispose of the asset.
