hinchinbrook sighting..........6

I have learned to use the word "impossible"with the greatest caution. - Wernher von Braun

It seems that the case for ZechariahSitchin's mystery Sumerian planet,Nibiru, just keeps getting stronger.

This issue's news section contains twoarticles of interest - one, about thediscovery of 'free-floating' planets (ie,planets without their own solarsystem), and a second, discussing thelatest theory on the why the Earth tilts.

What's interesting about both of thesetheories is that they point towards thevery real possibility of a mystery planetor sun poised to enter our SolarSystem.

Not that the notion of a Planet X is newin scientific circles -- in fact, it's beendiscovered and rediscoverednumerous times. What's significantabout these ‘new’ theories is thatscience is catching up with ancientknowledge, and that the media isplaying along by softening us up andplanting the seeds of this probablereality in the public's minds. Hopefullythis will make it easier on society if andwhen a giant planet or a second sunsuddenly appears in the sky… wemight be less likely to run screamingfor the hills. Or not!

Is it really possible that our SolarSystem contains an extra planet? Themathematics seem to say so. And forthose of you, like me, who in recentyears have been thinking the Moonhasn’t been behaving as it should be,it turns out we weren’t imagining it.Somebody finally paid attention towhat the plebs were saying, and aCornell University study has agreed,in writing, that the Moon ismisbehaving. And the only possiblereason for this misbehaviour has beenpinpointed as a ‘large body’ orbitingjust outside our solar system.

A large, so-far invisible, body.

So look to the skies, people - there maybe more than UFOs to look for!

novemBeR-DecemBeR 2012Location unknown, 4 November 2012, 9.00pmAbout 9.00pm Sunday night, I wassitting at my computer with my dogMJ sitting next to me on a pillow, where she sits all the time. All of asudden MJ was trying to move butkept falling over -- her back legs werefalling out from under her, and Ithought OMG, she's got a tick, she'snearly paralysed. I rang G straightaway and told him there's somethingwrong with MJ, she can't walk/stand,and he said to check her for a tick. Igot off the phone and started to filmher to show G what she was doing, and as I started to film she startedto move again, thank God, but shewas in a panic, she was panting andfreaking out.I took her out the front to see if shewanted to go to the toilet orsomething, I didn't know what to do.Then I looked up and saw four lightsjust up the road in the sky, circling,so I rang and told G and told him 'it'sjust like what you see in those UFOmovies.' I tried taking a video of itbut it didn't turn out, my camera isnot good at night.I went back inside with MJ as shehad settled down, but the lightswere still there. I was chatting toGerard on and off over the next 30minutes, and he kept on askingabout the lights. I was trying to getall the pictures off my camerabecause it was full, so I could try andtake video and pictures, but it wastaking ages.I went back out to check the lightsagain, and all of a sudden the lightsall went into one, upwards, and thendisappeared with a sound like a sonicboom.

G believes me because I was on thephone to him most of the timedescribing everything, but I wasupset I didn't get it on camera. MJdisappeared for about 45 minutesafter that, and when she came backshe had bits of grass stuck to her. It'snot like her to take off, especially atnight like that.

Browns Plains, 20 November 2012, 7.25pmWhile walking with my family on ourstreet, the sky was quite clear butdue to street lights and house lightsit was the usual suburban visibility. We witnessed three passenger jetswith flashing lights and sound, and theusual delay of sound due to distance,

and I was explaining to my childrenthat if we watched where the soundwas coming from and where theposition of the jet was, then usedthe current position of the jet andwatched the jet travel the samedistance and count the time it took,we could calculate the speed of thejet with a degree of rough accuracy.Anyhow, noticing how slow and smallthe jets were due to distance, therewas suddenly a gap in the jets andno sound was heard. I then saw abright object that was far brighterthan any star and larger than Venusor Mercury, travelling from west toeast. It was smaller than the jets

Author, clairvoyant and spiritual healer Shirley Battie returns to Brisbanein 2013 and will be speaking at the February 2013 UFO ResearchQueensland public meeting.

(which were all heading roughlysouth), but its speed far exceededthe jets, eg. not blistering, but tomove from the west to he east it tookabout 10 to 15 seconds . There wasno sound, no blinking lights, just aperfectly consistent light white-yellow light. We watched it go intothe distance toward Browns Plains/Marsden/Kingston way.If I was not looking I would not havenoticed the object. It was not asatellite or jet in my opinion - it wastoo fast, too low and had no sound.Simply awesome for whole family

Oxenford, 17 November 2012, afternoonOn Saturday the 17th November I sawsomething very strange [image belowleft]. So strange I took a photo if it. Iwas on Michigan Drive, Oxenford, when a large dark ring appeared aboveme. Much lower than an ordinarycloud, it looked like smoke travellinginside a tube with a moving cloudinside of it. There was no one elsearound, which is why I took thepicture. The ring passed right overthe top of me, so I got into my car tofollow it but it was gone. No one Iknow can deliver an explanation. Itfreaked me out and excited me at thesame time.

Burleigh, 26 November 2012, 9.20pmTonight at about 9.20pm I was at theWest Burleigh gym, and when I left Isaw what looked like a fireball cometthingy in the direction ofCoolangatta. I thought the objectwas on a post or something, so Ipulled the car over and watched it.It was bright orange and looked like around fireball -- the object was notsolid looking, and I thought it was acomet it was moving towards Surfers

Paradise really fast, then it stoppedand headed out to sea. This thing isdriving me insane thinking about it

Gold Coast, 30 November 2012, 7.00pmI was working on my car around7.00pm last night and looked outtowards the ocean and saw severalred lights hovering in the sky, slowlymoving before disappearing. My wifeand children also saw this and so didour neighbour. I have not seenanything in the news so waswondering if this was just flares orsomething like that. They seemed tomove in random patterns up anddown, which has my flare theory abit confused. And I am curious whyno one else seems to have seenthem?

Marsden, 8 December 2012, eveningMy family and I were out tonight andon our way home my 12 year old sonasked if an object in the sky abovethe Marsden area (Logan City) was ahelicopter. We thought it was, so westarted to watch it, wondering whatkinds of action may be happening. Ithad two big red lights and a brightbeam of light shining down to thearea below. We were not close - theobject looked like it was a suburbaway. We were on the Motorway atthe time and continued to watch it,and it continued to stay in the oneplace with its beam of light. Afterexiting the motorway (a few minutesdrive from when we first saw it), wesaw it turn off its beam of light andstart moving toward the samedirection we were travelling. We still thought it was a helicopterat this stage, but as it came closerto us, and us to it, we thought moreand more that it was not like any kindof helicopter we would normally see.

We see quite a few as we live close tothe hospital. We then turned downthe service road towards our streetwhere we were almost following it.Its lights then changed from red toblue and red. My husband and I had,as safe as it may not seem, our eyesglued to the windscreen of our car, looking at it. It definitely did not looklike a helicopter as it flew over thetop of us. It was narrow and long andreminded me of a long flashing glowstick. It turned off its blue and redlights and went to a white light andflew higher into the sky, and within90 seconds it looked like a distant star.I have never seen what I believe is aUFO. I really didn't believe in them. But tonight with my family, my threekids and my husband, who all saw thesame thing, I don't know what else tothink.

Pacific Pines, 31 December 2010, reportedNovember 2012Following a news story and photos inthe Gold Coast Bulletin on Nov 25 2012on UFO sightings, attached is a photothat I took on 31 Dec 2010 at about8.30 over Pacific Pines, Gold Coast,Queensland. (Ed’s note: photo is notprinted as the image was too faint forreproduction. The object looks like around red light.)We actually sighted several objectsthe same as this one, but at differentintervals, and this was the last onewe saw. The others were lower butunfortunately I didn't have my cameraready to capture them.I thought it was interesting that oneof the photos featured in the Bulletinwas the same object as the ones wesighted.Even though it was New Years Eve wehad not been drinking as we werebabysitting our little granddaughter.

SIGHTING AT HINCHINBROOK ANDHAYCOOK ISLAND, MAY 13, 1995On 13 May, 1995 my brother D and Iwere fishing between Hinchinbrookand Haycock Island, NorthQueensland. When we decided toleave for home late on thatSaturday, the boat engine batterywas flat. It was a new large boatbattery which lasted another threeyears. The only other time it gavetrouble was at a later time, but inthe same location. So we decidedto each use a paddle on the 4.2metre boat.

THE BLACK AND WHITE OF UFOSWHITE

We arrived back at FishersCreek at about 3.00am. Westill had a distance to go tothe boat ramp, but we couldgo no further because of thetidal rips. When we were nearlythere, D saw six UFOs, about thirtyfeet in diameter, disappear behindthe hill at the mouth of the DelugeCreek. Due to the angle of the boat Idid not see the objects, however, later on I saw lights over themangroves through a fog. When wecould go no further we anchored,

then the channel glassed over andthe Moon lit up the whole area. Itwas a sight to behold.

The fog near the mouth of DelugeCreek then formed into arectangular end, about 5 metreswide by 2.5 metres high. Then itcame straight towards us, a

distance of 1.5 kilometres, and it was“white” with a black strip at the top[see image 1 below].

Suddenly a similar size “black”object appeared, coming fromSandstone Creek straight towardsus, a distance of three kilometres. The “Black” set up on the south eastside, while the “White” moved to thenorth east side. The five metresbetween them then turned grey, sothat we had a wall 15 metres wideby 2.5 metres high and the mouthof the Deluge Creek was totallyobscured [see image 2 below left].

Things were ever changing, andsuddenly a white strip 150mm wideran across the end of the “black”,then three kilometres down the side.Just as suddenly the strip

disappeared, and” black” was allblack again. The black stripe on thetop of “white” then changed shape[see image 3 below].

The stripe disappeared only to bereplaced by a black fish, then a blacklizard-like animal with no feet, thena second and a third lizard.

My brother, who wasn’t well, became very tired so I made him abed and he lay down. We had a beddown each side, so after a while Ilay down too. After about tenminutes I sat up and the big blackfaçade had disappeared. All thatwas left was a 1.8 metre widesegment going the full distance toSandstone Creek. It wasdisappearing into itself, much as Iwould imagine a black hole would

do, until it disappeared intoSandstone Creek [see image 4bottom].

Then “white” and “black” thenstarted to break up into a fog untilwe were completely covered. Thiswas about 5.00am. I slept for half anhour, and when I awoke there werestrips of fog down the channel andon Hinchinbrook, with the suncoming up behind the island. It wasone of the most beautiful sights Ihad ever seen.

During the whole ordeal wecouldn’t move and we were at theirmercy. It was with great relief thatwe had survived. I tried to connectmentally with whatever the forcemight have been, but receivednothing.

GLEN INNES UFO MEETINGOn November 23 2012, Martin and Iattended the inaugural Glen Innes UFOmeeting held at the local Glenn Inneslibrary. The meeting was organised by afriend of mine, Leonie Starr, who lived inthe UK for 27 years and was a foundingmember of the CCCS (Centre for Crop CircleStudies). She was quite involved with fieldwork while in the UK, and the variousevents the CCCS held over the years.Recently she decided to start a UFOdiscussion group, so she hooked upwith UFO researcher Barry Taylor, who alsolives in Glen Innes, and organised theirfirst UFO meeting. It was a great turnoutwith 36 people attending and, consideringthe population of the area is only about7,000, the organizer was pleased. First to speak was myself, and Ipresented some of the photographs thathave been sent to UFORQ over the years.I also discussed seven cases we’dinvestigated personally, and brieflytouched on the well-known cases of KellyCahill, Fred Valentich and Father Gill. Ialso raised the question of how old theUFO phenomenon might be, and showedsome of the lesser known artworkfrom history. Next I covered the physicaland paranormal aftereffects of closeencounter experiences and finished withthe cover-up and the Disclosure project. After the break, Barry Taylor presentedphotos and footage of UFOs thathe’d taken while living in Grafton NSW.He spoke about how he had developedhis vision and was able to see objectsbetter as a result. I think between thetwo of us we gave a well roundedcoverage of the phenomenon and thefeedback was very positive. There was agood Q&A segment at the end, and alengthy discussion over supper. Two days later Martin, Leonie, Barry andI met again and discussed orbs, filmingtechniques, UFOs and a whole lot of otherthings that are too many to mention.

BRISBANE UFO MEETINGFollowing the Glen Innes trip,we returned to Brisbane and had a houseguest for a couple of days. This was AlecBrimacombe, who had flown from Cairnsto meet us and attend our publicmeeting. Alec is our Cairns area UFOcontact and it was a delight to finallymeet him face to face, but I soon puthim to work making sandwiches forour supper at the Brisbane meeting. lol!The November meeting was the lastmeeting for the year and it was verywell attended with 43 people plus 14committee members (yes we’rebrimming with committee members atthe moment -- yay!) so we had a fullhouse. I knew we would because of thetopic being the personal account of analien abductee. I’d known our guestspeaker for about 20 years (he used thepseudonym John). John wasn’t shy, ashe’d already spoken about hisexperiences publically in 1992 when weheld a weekend seminar at QUT. Ourkey speaker at that event was cropcircle researcher, Colin Andrews, andJohn’s presentation was part of theweekend program. At the November UFORQ meeting he toldhis story for the second time, butwith the added experience of 11 yearsworking as a military intelligenceofficer. At times he was quite movedemotionally, especially when he spoke ofthe appearance of green lights in hisdaughter’s bedroom and having to watchas his daughter was ”taken” by threebeings and not being able to do anythingabout it. John’s story was full of missing timeexperiences, plus many sightings, someof which were corroborated by reportspublished in the local paper soon after. His main encounter was a sharedexperience with his brother. During thisexperience John and a friend were sittingoutside when they saw a glow comingfrom around the corner. So they went toinvestigate and came across a big brightorange light that spooked John’s friendwho then ran off. So John returned hometo get his brother, who strangely wasalready anxious, but who agreed toreturn with John. They got to withinabout 10 metres of the glow and soonfound themselves surrounded by agolden fog. The fog was so thick thateven though he was standing next to hisbrother, John couldn’t see him. Thena bright white light appeared and in an

elevated position within that light wasa three foot tall man. Next they were ina craft, but John can’t remember howthey got there. By this time John wasvery dazed and his next recollection wasof being on a metal bed with a brightlight overhead. To his left was a sevenfoot tall white being who spoke slowlyto John telepathically. Thiscommunication felt to John like he washit in the centre of his head, then it wentthrough his brain. All this time his eyes were transfixedon the bright white light above whichhad become very alluring. He found hecould turn onto his right side, where he saw a being moving towardshim carrying a one foot long objectwhich the being put in Johns ear whiletelling John it wouldn’t hurt. His next recollection is of waking upnaked with the beings fixated on hisgenitals, and during this time semen wasextracted from him. John nextrecalled being on a larger craft lookingout of large portholes. On this craft hebecame aware of many types ofbeings, some 12 to 13 feet tall. Johnwas told that he was ‘chosen aboveothers’ and ‘this’ has been goingon since his grandfather, and beenhappening to his mother, brother andnow his children. His next recollectionis standing outside his house and lookingup to see a ship shooting up high in thesky. After this experience John’s motherwent into his bedroom to find him palewhite, lying in a fetal position and notbeing able to wake him up. Eventuallyhe did get up to go to the bathroom andfound gel coming out of his ear. Hismother thought someone was playing atrick on him, but she was also worriedso she took him to visit his doctor. Ananalysis found that his head was leakingbrain fluid which left the medical staffstumped as to how this could happen. Itwas thought that John may have beenmugged so the police were called andJohn found himself having a laugh tohimself when they asked, “have youseen any strange people tonight?” Afterthis experience John became withdrawnand found life quite difficult, but wassurprisingly supported by his GP whowas open to the abduction phenomenon. This was an amazing story andcomments I received were that it waspresented in a very grounded way. I haveto agree.

Doctor of biological sciences, a brilliantsci-fi writer and a bold visionary, IvanYefremov had written more than 100scientific works and had anencyclopedic, comprehensiveknowledge of biology, physics, astronomy, sociology, philosophy andmedicine. He coined the termtaphonomy (the science that studies theprocess of decay and fossilization), andfounded the study of taphonomy in 1940(and by doing so turned paleontologyinto exact science).

Yefremov was able to predict thediscovery of diamond deposits inYakutia; because of his ideas, a Sovietscientist some years later was able todiscover practical holography. The KGBlater whined that Yefremov knew wherethe diamond deposits were located butwould not tell the authorities andinstead revealed the state secretthrough his story.

Yefremov was equally at home amongthe stars, in the open ocean, in thecataclysms of the distant geologicalepochs, or in the nonexistent world ofanti-matter. This is according toProfessor Olson, a former member of theNational Academy of Sciences, andrecipient of numerous medals andawards who knew the Russian scientistand corresponded with him. Olsondescribed his colleague as a person whoseemingly did not feel the boundariesof time and space.

IMMEASURABLE EXTENT OFKNOWLEDGE

Yefremov wrote about alien artifactsfound during paleontologicalexpeditions (his novel Star Ships wasnot published until 1948, because ofthe ideas presented there that thereare many inhabited planets in theUniverse, that the evolution of sapientbeings is quite similar, and that allsentient beings are humanoid inappearance). He was convinced that allclaims to the effect that we will not beable to understand civilizations thathave arisen on other planets in differentconditions were groundless. The fact,in his words, was this: the universe isbuilt according to the same plan, fromthe same bricks or elements, with thesame properties and cause-and-effectrelationships. Consciousness, thought, and intellectual matter throughout theuniverse are structured in accordancewith these laws, and, as much as theyoriginate from them, represent theirproduct and reflection. Therefore wewould definitely understand eachother’s minds; we cannot fail to…

Yefremov was only able to publish astory he wrote back in 1943, aboutgenetic memory, in 1968 (A Secret fromHellas, it was considered too “mystical”for the regime…). There had to beknowledge in his possession that hasnot been revealed fully. In one novel,Yefremov wrote that Imhotep wasdirectly seeking information andreceiving accurate answers from theEgyptian deity Thoth in his sanctuaryin a place known as Ra’s Souls…Thewise Imhotep, a great mind, statesmanand scientist of ancient Egypt, cameback to his Pharaoh with the accurate

answers, and much more: he wasshown wonders that no previousPharaohs had ever been shown.

Imhotep was given knowledge back inapproximately 2880 BCE, in the periodwhen many other centers of newlygained knowledge sprung up in China,Crete, Sumer and India, when menreceived knowledge from “gods” whoarrived on our planet. Imhotep keptobjects, similar to powerful moderncomputers, in a special sanctuary.

Professor Yefremov was fascinated byMinoan civilization, ancient Crete andits mysterious, vanished inhabitants. He seemed to know much more thanwas revealed in his novels. He knewEnglish, French and German; knew anddiscussed Agni Yoga, an esotericteaching founded by the Russianpainter and philosopher NicholasRoerich and his wife, Elena. Yefremovalso knew well a very curious book(unavailable in the USSR), “Le Matin desMagiciens (The Morning of theMagicians), which was the progenitorfor most of the “New Age” literature.

Throughout his novels and stories hewas greatly influenced by ancientGreece. Yefremov was a lover of life; heconstantly emphasized beauty, especially the beauty of human body, beauty of healthy Eros. He hatedreligious fanatics, all those whodestroyed beauty and human psyche

He possessed incredible knowledge ofhypnosis; his “experimental” book theRazor’s Blade (1963) is notable for ahuge amount of the scientific facts anddynamism (hypnotism, geneticmemory, human psyche, Alexander theGreat and his mysterious crown foundat the bottom of the ocean, ancient

India, nonstop adventures…), and wasalways the bestseller of the Sovietblack markets, and is reprinted yearafter year. Yefremov was quite familiarwith Buddhist Hinayana andMahayana systems, Pythagorean andGnostic teachings; learned five stagesof Yoga, and was interested inNestorianism and Manicheanism.

He was not an adherent of occultsciences. Yefremov was an atheist andbelieved in his version of Communism. He was not a mystic, butneither was he dogmatic.Allan Yefremov revealedthat his father was greatlyinterested in Hinduism. Atthe same time, hepossessed a great talent: hecould accurately diagnosediseases, surprisingdoctors.

According to P. Chudinov,PhD of Biological sciences, and Professor Yefremov’sstudent and assistant, theman had possessed afantastic sense of beingone with Nature. It seemedto people around him, onoccasions, that he hadvisited the areas where hisexpeditions arrived in,although they knew forcertain he had never beenthere before.

Yefremov believed in thespiritual power of a man, psychological and physicalself-improvement; hecreated a vision of amagnificent, brilliant, breathtakingfuture of humankind, of spaceexploration, of cooperation betweenours and the extraterrestrialcivilizations through the use of theGreat Circle, a marvelous associationthat consolidates isolated planets (likeEarth) in the interconnected totalityby remarkable methods ofcommunication.

Long before it became an issue,Professor Yefremov demonstratedconcerns about ecology of the planet, and harm to the environment duringthe nuclear arms race.

Towards the end of his life, Yefremovwas interested in everything (except

political science), according to his son;the extent of the man’s knowledge wasimmeasurable.

A DIFFERENT COMMUNISM

Ivan Yefremov had his own vision ofCommunism: the stupendous future hedescribed in Andromeda-the Space AgeTale and Cor Serpentis (Heart of theSnake) (1958) was drastically differentfrom the dreary contemporaneousreality. This did not bode well with theSoviet leaders, and the KGB.

Soviet people loved his novels; many ofthem (including cosmonauts) chosetheir professions and educationbecause of the influence of Yefremov’sbooks (translated into dozens oflanguages of the world).

Yefemov never mentioned RussianCommunist leader Lenin in his futuristicnovels, although he was pressured to.In the 1930s the Communist Partywould not accept him for membershipbecause of his father’s “wrong” socialclass, and in the 1950s Yefremovdeclined to join it, stating that hisfather’s social class had not changed…

The authorities tried to silence anymention of Yefremov’s achievements

(even in paleontology) after his death, and for a number of years theysucceeded.

A STRANGE KGB INVESTIGATION

One month after his death, in Octoberof 1972, the KGB sealed off his modestapartment on the SpasoglinischevskyPereulok, full of books, diaries, scientifictreatises, maps, notebooks, and manyother items.

Eleven officers searched the apartmentfor over 13 hours using X-rays and a

metal detector. The KGBsearched the apartment ofthe famous paleontologist forover 13 hours. They intendedto open the urn withYefremov’s ashes, but his wifeTaisia Iosifovna would not tolet them. When she tried tofind out later what was thereason for all this, the KGB saidthat they found an anti-Sovietarticle someone (who left noreturn address) mailed to thewriter. At the same time thewidow was repeatedlyquestioned about herhusband’s wounds, and alldetails of his life, from birth todeath. The prosecutor’s officewanted to know how manyyears she actually knewYefremov. She asked the KGBa direct question: what areyou accusing him of? Thedirect reply was that they arenot accusing him, as he is adead man.

Yefremov’s wife kept a copy ofthe KGB search report; it

stated that they were looking for“ideologically harmful literature”. Theyconfiscated Yefremov’s oldphotographs (from different periods ofhis life), his letters to his wife, letters fromreaders, photos of his friends, andreceipts. No author’s manuscripts weretaken, but they did take homeopathicmedicine bottles, a book about Africa inEnglish (it had dry leaves inside); hisgeological minerals, a cane with a “sharpmetal object inside,” and a stick madefrom colored metals. They neverreturned the last two objects.

The KGB had continued theinvestigation of Ivan Yefremov’s life andactivities for eight years after the writer’s

death. The “Yefremov’s Dossier”comprised forty (40) volumes.

ENIGMATIC FILES

Three Russian investigative journaliststried to uncover the truth. One of them,A. Izmailov, published his findings inNEVA magazine (Issue 5, 1990). Twoothers, Nikita Petrov and Olga Edelman, published their findings in 2002 inhttp://www.ruthenia.ru/logos/number/2002_02/02.htm. They wereable to see the files pertaining to thecase, files from the Office of theProsecutor of the USSR. TheProsecutor’s Office was empowered tooversee cases initiated by the statesecurity services (KGB), and everycriminal case had its twin file in theProsecutor’s Office, where updatedinformation from the case was filed. The case had this designation in theRussian archives: ÖÃÀÐÔ. ô. Ð-8131. Îï.36 Ä. 5653 (according to the Russianhistorian N.V. Boyko who presented hisinformation in 1997, at the FirstInternational Yefremov Symposium).

The contents of the file provided noclear answers and raised even morequestions. The cause of death was notdetermined, and Yefremov might nothave been the person her appeared tobe, that is what the files stated, andbecause of the above, a criminal casewas opened and an investigationensued in January of 1973. No mentionof the November search of thedeceased author’s apartment wasfound in the file (although theProsecutor’s Office authorized it, as thejournalists learned later). The criminalcase was officially closed in March of1974, and the Prosecutor’s Office wasinformed. Fifteen people werequestioned about Yefremov’s identity, and it was determined that he diedfrom natural causes. But the KGBinvestigation went on.

Many years later, Izmailov was able tomeet with the investigator, who toldhim there was no underlyingdenunciation against Yefremov.Habibulin, the original investigator, wasvery reluctant to talk about the caseeven in the waning days of the USSR.In 1989 the journalist was able to getan official response from the Moscow

KGB office that the search of Yefremov’sapartment was due to suspicion that theauthor died a violent death. But thesearch had caused such suspicions notto be confirmed…

BRITISH AGENT HYPOTHESIS

According to the rumors that spreadthrough Moscow in 1972, Yefremov wasactually a British agent who “substituted”the writer during the Mongolianexpeditions. Some rumors mentionedthat the KGB installed recording devicesin the author’s home and recorded hisdeath. According to the former office ofthe KGB’s Second Department(Counterintelligence), V. Korolyov, whopublished his article in 1991 (StolitsaMagazine), their Moscow office had fewactivities to occupy the time. To justifytheir murky existence, Lt.-General Alidindecided to make Yefremov into a Britishagent. Why was the case against theYefremov initiated by the KGB? TheBritish espionage accusation is not in thefiles pertaining to the case. Accusationof “anti-Soviet” activities is nowhere inthe files (unlike in most other KGB cases),unless more files are missing from thespecial division. The Prosecutor’s Officedivision that handled Yefremov’s fileswould not even deal with majorespionage cases. But with his death, hadYefremov been suspected of being a spy,the case would have been closed. Yet itwas not. What remains is the mysteriousverification of identity, the accusationthat Yefremov was not who hepretended to be. The investigativejournalists came to a conclusion that forsome unknown reasons, the KGB neededa formal cover-up to initiate a criminalcase against the Russian writer.Inconsistencies did not bother the KGBoperatives. When the need to continuethe case was gone, they stopped thecase.

EXTRATERRESTRIAL HYPOTHESIS

There remains one explanation of thecase against Yefremov. A.N. Strugatsky, one of the most famous internationalscience fiction writers, proffered theexplanation in his conversation withIzmailov. In the late 1960s and early 1970s,the U.S. Armed Forces and the CIA hadcreated departments that had seriouslystudied flying saucers, and possibilitiesof ET invasion of Earth. The Soviets mighthave similar ideas.

Several books, co-authored by PhilipMantle and the author of this article, describe Soviet military research ofUFOs, as well as the KGB interest in thesubject (dating back to 1920s). Hence,Strugatsky, perhaps unbeknownst tohim, was right in the sense that theSoviets had similar agencies andprograms. And the very unusual Sovietauthor interested them immensely.

At the same time, Soviet sci-fi fans cameup with a persistent idea that leadingsci-fi writers were agents ofextraterrestrial civilizations. What if aKGB officer, who took over the newlycreated agency believed in the absurdidea that sci-fi writers are ET agents? He ordered that Yefremov was to beunder observation while alive, as theywere afraid to capture a “live” alienwhose actions could be unpredictable. But when the author, or ‘alien’, died, they could uncover some means of hiscommunications with a civilization thatwas well advanced in comparison withours. Not knowing what the ‘means’would look like, the KGB grabbedwhatever they could. Not finding whatthey were looking for, they laterreturned the objects.

This account explains the unusual KGBconduct: the search of the apartmentafter Yefremov’s death, confiscation ofcertain items, their attempt to open theurn, the KGB concern that the authorwas cremated on the second day afterhis death (no autopsy was performed);the strange questions asked of his wife;and the statement that Yefremov wasnot accused of anything.

LIFE-GIVING WATER

The Africa angle was not consideredby investigative journalists.

Yefremov, according to his son Allan(named in honor of Allan Quartermainfrom H. Rider Haggard’s novels, andhimself a geologist), loved Africa andhad many books about the continentin English, German and French.

In 1942-43 Yefremov wrote and shortlythereafter published a story titledMeeting over Tuscarora. In its plotlineYefremov was trying to tell the worldsomething about “life-giving” waterdiscovered in the ocean depths nearSouth Africa, including the coordinateswhere it could be harvested from theocean’s floor.

Professor Yefremov had an obscurecomment about the story in Septemberof 1972. Commenting on his earlystories, he wrote that the problem ofthe heavy water accumulation at theocean depths outside of the thermalmixing still remains open. It is quitepossible the aging Politburo bosseswould be interested in the source ofhis knowledge.

DINOSAUR BONES, GIANTS, ANDWORMS OF THE GOBI

In 1946, the Paleontological Institute ofthe Soviet Academy of Sciencesdispatched expeditions to the GobiDesert to search for fossils. The actualfield expeditions of 1946-1949 were ledby Ivan Yefremov. Great discoverieswere made despite the fact that theexpeditions were poorly equipped andused inadequate means oftransportation. The final expeditiontook place in 1949. Yefremov and hiscolleagues, having explored more than25,000 kilometers, discovered manynew sites with a great number ofdinosaur and other reptiles bones. Hemade an assumption that Central Asiaduring the Cretaceous was a territorywith numerous bogs, water, andluxuriant vegetation. Those conditionswere favorable for dinosaurs. Therefore, one could expect to findtheir remains…and plenty of fossils(460 cases, more than 120 tons takento two museums in the Soviet Unionand Mongolia) were discovered, just ashe knew they would be.

However, as reported in an article froman obscure Russian magazine MirZazerkalya (Issue 11, 2002), Yefremovdid discover something else inMongolia. In a valley of burial grounds,he found a grave that contained theskeleton of a giant measuring almostthree meters.

The source named in the article isVladimir Scherbakov, a well-known andcontroversial Russian writer, whowrote about ancient civilizations andsimilar subjects, and who passed awayin 2004.

Ivan Yefremov did mention thediscovery in his books.

Doroga Vetrov (The Road of Winds)(a.k.a. Gobi Notes) is a non-fiction bookby Ivan Yefremov about his three years’travel in Mongolia (1946-1949) when hewas the head of the Joint Soviet-

Mongolian Paleontology Expedition. InChapter 9 of the book, Yefremov wrotethat they had to dig laterally under amonolithic plate under other, well-situated plates, that they discoveredunder a hill (in the vicinity of theKharganaik-Gol River). The last plate (sixsquare meters in size) could not beremoved by the expedition’smechanical means. Right under theplate in the layer of loose sand, theydiscovered a skeleton of a hugely tallman over sixty years of age. He wasresting on his back, facing west, his facelooking upward. Strangely, the skeletonwas missing wrists of both arms. Therewas absolutely nothing near thedeceased. No fragments of dishes, nobroken weapons, no traces of anydecorations or clothing, as if the personwas buried absolutely naked. Somesupposed that it was a slave or anenemy buried there, but in that case, the gigantic structure was meaningless.Such huge plates could be moved by agood hundred men, and then, under awhip. The bones of the deceased hadbeen extensively damaged by waterthat leaked from a slope into the areaunder the plate. Eglon, a member of theexpedition, applied carpenter’s glue tothem. The expedition took with themthe skull, one hip, and unusually massivelumbar vertebrae. Judging by the skull, the deceased was not a Mongol, but arepresentative of European race. Withextreme care they packed the bonesthat had rested under the plate foralmost three thousand years, and laterhanded them over to thearchaeologists of the Professor S.V.Kiselev expedition.

Alexandra Yuferova published an articlein Russian magazine Nauka i Religiya(Issue 4, 1991), titled Ivan Yefremov i AgniYoga. She wrote that Ivan AntonovichYefremov headed the joint Mongolian-Soviet expedition in the Gobi desert in1946-1949. Yefremov recalled thecarefree and happy days of theexpedition, brought out various relatedphotos from his hidden archives, andcommented on them. Yuferovaespecially recollected the description ofthe excavated ancient burial ground, where under a tremendously heavymonolithic plate was located a gigantic, over two meters tall, skeleton of ahuman being of some unknown toscience pre-Mongolian people. “Thefinding”, lamented Yefemov, “so much

contradicted everything that wasalready known and established, that itwas not allowed to publish it (thephotograph-P.S.).”

Were those hidden archives ever foundby KGB operatives? What happened tothe bones? And who was thismysterious giant, so diligently buriedaway under the huge structure?

During his travels in Mongolia, IvanYefremov heard rumors and legendsabout the Mongolian Worm, andpublished a story in 1944 about a deadlyencounter with the creature. Allghoikhorkhoi is said to possess an effectiveability to kill people and animalsinstantly at a range of several feet.Yefremov described a creature thatbelonged to a completely unknownspecies. It was great thick wormwriggling over the mauve sand, repulsive and seemingly helpless. Whenapproached by men, the worms turnedinto rings, and their color changed anddarkened. The worms killed the two menin the story who ran toward them. Buthow did they kill? Yefremov describedsome ancient Mongol legends; thenatives were quite terrified by thecreature, and the worms were neverexamined by explorers. The creature killsat a distance and inflicts instantaneousdeath; it might do so by an exceptionallypowerful electrical discharge, or somepoison it emits. In 1972 ProfessorYefremov wrote that there had been noconfirmation that the worms actuallyexist today, that it was a creature thathad become extinct but kept alive infolk tales; but some explorers todaywould argue his conclusion.

In memory of the great writer, astronomers of the CrimeanAstrophysical Observatory named afterYefremov one of the asteroids of theSolar system. This asteroid, calledEfremiana, circles the Sun around everyfive years. A mineral, efremovite wasnamed in his honor, as well as someprehistoric animals. Yefremov’s remainslie in the Komarovo cemetery near Saint-Petersburg.

WHY DOESWHY DOESWHY DOESWHY DOESWHY DOESEARTH'S ORBITEARTH'S ORBITEARTH'S ORBITEARTH'S ORBITEARTH'S ORBITTILTILTILTILTILT?T?T?T?T?http://blastr.com/2012/11/why-does-earths-orbit-til.php

It's an enduring puzzle that's hadastronomers and astrophysicistsscratching their heads for years:Why does the Earth tilt? Our planetorbits with a slight (7-degree) anglerelative to the sun, and we've neverbeen able to figure out why, but

now one scientist thinks he's got ourplanet's crooked spin solved. When astronomers discovered a"hot Jupiter," a gas giant planetorbiting very close to its star, in 1995,they were baffled. Gas giants don'tnormally behave that way (or so theythought), so to explain this hotJupiter's proximity to its star thetheory of "disk migration" wasdeveloped. The theory goes thatplanets form farther away from theirstars but then migrate inward untilthey reach the protoplanetary diskof gases surrounding the star. Onceinside the disk, the planet begins tomatch the star's orbit.

But that theory was called intoquestion four years ago whenastronomers began discoveringmore hot Jupiters that were just asclose to their stars but orbiting invery different ways. These planetsorbited at odd angles, and someeven orbited backward relative totheir stars. Clearly the disk migrationtheory wasn't making senseanymore. If a planet is born in a system withtwo stars, the second star can causeit to spiral in and tilt. The second starmight eventually migrate away, butthe orbit of the planet stays thesame. According to KonstantinBatygin of the Harvard-SmithsonianCenter for Astrophysics, that's whathappened to Earth."I think somewhere in the Milky Way,there's a star that's responsible fortilting us," he said.Batygin's theory seems sound, butit still has to be tested, and Batyginhopes to confirm it withmeasurements of a system that stillhas multiple stars: Alpha Centauri.By measuring the alignments ofeach of Alpha Centauri's three stars,Batygin hopes to confirm thatneighboring stars can tilt eachother's protoplanetary disks, which

would in turnaffect the orbits ofany planets in thearea. There's agood chance thatastronomers willfind misalignment in the AlphaCentauri system," he said.

A report in London's Daily Mail saysthat at the height of the 1950s spacerace, the US considered detonatingan atom bomb on the moon as adisplay of America's Cold Warmuscle. The secret project, A Studyof Lunar Research Flights, andnicknamed Project A119, was nevercarried out. The Daily Mail articlesays the mission's planningincluded calculations byastronomer Carl Sagan, then ayoung graduate student, of thebehaviour of dust and gasgenerated by the blast. In 2000 physicist Leonard Reiffelsaid that viewing the nuclear flashfrom earth might have intimidatedthe Soviet Union and boosted USconfidence after the launch ofSputnik. Reiffel, now 85, directed theinquiry at the former ArmourResearch Foundation, now part of

the Illinois Institute of Technology. Helater served as a deputy director atNASA.According to the Daily Mail, theauthor of one of Sagan's biographiessuggested that he may havecommitted a security breach in 1959after revealing the classified projectin an academic fellowshipapplication. Reiffel concurred. Underthe scenario, a missile carrying asmall nuclear device was to belaunched from an undisclosedlocation and travel 238,000 miles tothe moon, where it would bedetonated upon impact. Theplanners decided it would have to bean atom bomb because a hydrogenbomb would have been too heavy forthe missile.Military officials apparentlyabandoned the idea because of thedanger to people on Earth in case themission failed. The scientists alsoregistered concerns aboutcontaminating the moon withradioactive material, Reiffel said. TheUS Air Force refuses to comment onthe claims.

A man from Melbourne has recentlyuploaded a video clip of his UFOsighting using an infrared camera. The film reveals an eerie show oflights not visible to the naked eye.The clip states in its introduction thatthe sighting was captured inMelbourne, Australia on November11 (Sunday) around noon time.Asked for the particular location, thevideo uploader reveals he took thevideo at Moonee Ponds. The clip is titled, "UFO - '''SKYARMADA'' Fleet - Daylight IR -Australia. 11.11" It says in the intro: "5groups of 'objects' same directionapprox 10 minutes apart."In describing his video clip, Lou says:"One of the most amazing sights Ihave ever recorded. Objects notvisible to naked eye. "'Invasion' maybe the wrong title, but that's what Ifelt. I hope they are benevolent."What the video shows is a strangeformation of hovering lights, among

others. The lights come in groups, without a particular motionpattern. At least one frame featurescountless lights moving ratherslowly relative to the others. It is understood this is not the firsttime Lou has fixed an infrared videocamera in the skies."When I first started, I use to get afew captures per week, then everyday, now multiple captures in oneday. Whatever 'they' are, there arelots of them - all over the world,"he writes.

A mysterious event back in 1955inspired some of Hollywood'smost famous movies, including E.T.and Poltergeist. The event? AKentucky family claimed to havebeen visited by aliens from outerspace. They said that for four hours, they fought off the aliens byshooting at them.Back in 1955, everyone thought theSutton family was crazy. The familyclaimed to have been visited by aflying saucer and creatures theydescribed as small goblins. Andthe Sutton story has neverwavered -- even 55 years later.Geraldine Sutton Stith wasn't yetborn when her father had theunexplained encounter. "Theywere keeping it hid from us if youwant to know the truth about thewhole thing," she said. It

They battled forseveral hours. They ran toHopkinsville to get help. Then theybattled again until 5:15 in themorning. Word spread like wildfire all overthe area that a spaceship from Marsloaded with aliens had landed inthe yard of the Sutton home on thenortheast side of Kelly. Worried about the impending 2012"Mayan apocalypse," a man in Chinahas reportedly spent his life savingson the construction of his very own"Noah's Ark." According to ChinaNews Service, Lu Zhenghai, from theXinjiang Uyghur AutonomousRegion in northwest China, hasalready spent about $160,000 on theboat. The vessel, designed by Luhimself, measures about 65 feet inlength and will, when completed, weigh about 80 tons, the report states.

Lu said he began building his so-called ark in 2010 out of fear that animpending "doomsday" flood wouldthreaten his and his family's survival."I'm afraid that when the end of theworld comes in 2012, flood waters willdestroy my house," Lu told theChinese News Service, according to aHuffPost translation. "So I took all mysavings and invested in theconstruction of this boat," hecontinued. "When the time comes, everyone can take refuge in it."Chinese news website FMN reportsthat Lu's "ark" was built with 10 tonsof timber and 60 tons of steel. Due tolack of funds, however, it has yet to becompleted.

Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of theprivate spaceflight company SpaceX,

has announcedan ambitiousplan to colonizeMars byshuttling 80,000pioneers to theRed Planet at a cost of $500,000 atrip. The first phase of the program, which is contingent on thedevelopment of reusable rocketthat can take off and land vertically, would start off modestly with onlya handful of explorers leavingEarth at a time. But in short order, the self-sustaining populationcould grow into something fargreater. The announcement was made bythe billionaire Musk to anaudience at the RoyalAeronautical Society in London onNovember 16. He was there to talkabout his business plans and toreceive the Society's gold medalfor helping to advance thecommercial space industry.

Accompanying the founders ofthe new Mars colony would belarge amounts of equipment, including machines to producefertilizer, methane and oxygenfrom Mars' atmospheric nitrogenand carbon dioxide and theplanet's subsurface water ice. TheRed Planet pioneers would alsotake construction materials tobuild transparent domes, whichwhen pressurized with Mars'atmospheric CO2, could growEarth crops in Martian soil. As theMars colony became more selfsufficient, the big rocket wouldstart to transport more people andfewer supplies and equipment.

Musk came up with the $500,000price tag claiming that it would bewithin the means of most peoplein advanced countries - whatwould be akin to purchasing anew home. He estimates that theentire program would cost about$36 billion, an expense sheet thatwould likely have to be offset bygovernment and privateenterprise:"Some money has to be spent onestablishing a base on Mars. It'sabout getting the basicfundamentals in place," Musk said."That was true of the Englishcolonies [in the Americas]; it took

To make it happen, SpaceX hasalready started to work on theirnext-generation reusable Falcon 9rocket. The prototype, calledGrasshopper, is a Falcon 9 first stagewith landing legs. This rocket hasalready made two short flights, including one in which it reached aheight of six feet (two meters), andanother in which it leaped to aheight of 17.7 feet (5.4 meters).

Musk is hoping to have a functionalfirst stage version of the rocketfinalized around 2018, butadmitted that those could be"famous last words."

Dallas, Nov. 24--A team of scientistscan verify that their 5-year long DNAstudy, currently under peer-review,confirms the existence of a novelhominin hybrid species, commonlycalled "Bigfoot" or "Sasquatch,"living in North America.Researchers' extensive DNAsequencing suggests that thelegendary Sasquatch is a humanrelative that arose approximately15,000 years ago as a hybrid crossof modern Homo sapiens with anunknown primate species.

The study was conducted by a teamof experts in genetics, forensics, imaging and pathology, led by Dr.Melba S. Ketchum of Nacogdoches,

TX. In response to recent interest inthe study, Dr. Ketchum can confirmthat her team has sequenced threecomplete Sasquatch nucleargenomes and determined thespecies is a human hybrid.

"Our study has sequenced 20 wholemitochondrial genomes and utilizednext generation sequencing toobtain 3 whole nuclear genomesfrom purported Sasquatch samples. The genome sequencing shows thatSasquatch mtDNA is identical tomodern Homo sapiens, butSasquatch nuDNA is a novel, unknown hominin related to Homosapiens and other primate species. Our data indicate that the NorthAmerican Sasquatch is a hybridspecies, the result of males of anunknown hominin species crossingwith female Homo sapiens.

Hominins are members of thetaxonomic grouping Hominini, which includes all members of thegenus Homo. Genetic testing hasalready ruled out Homoneanderthalis and the Denisovahominin as contributors toSasquatch mtDNA or nuDNA. "The

male progenitor that contributedthe unknown sequence to thishybrid is unique as its DNA is moredistantly removed from humansthan other recently discoveredhominins like the Denisovanindividual," explains Ketchum.

"Sasquatch nuclear DNA isincredibly novel and not at all whatwe had expected. While it hashuman nuclear DNA within itsgenome, there are also distinctlynon-human, non-archaic hominin, and non-ape sequences. Wedescribe it as a mosaic of humanand novel non-human sequence.Further study is needed and isongoing to better characterize andunderstand Sasquatch nuclearDNA."

Ketchum is a veterinarian whoseprofessional experience includes27 years of research in genetics, including forensics. Early in hercareer she also practicedveterinary medicine, and she haspreviously been published as aparticipant in mapping the equinegenome. She began testing theDNA of purported Sasquatch hairsamples 5 years ago.

Ketchum calls on public officialsand law enforcement toimmediately recognize theSasquatch as an indigenouspeople.

"Genetically, the Sasquatch are ahuman hybrid withunambiguously modern humanmaternal ancestry. Government atall levels must recognize them asan indigenous people andimmediately protect their humanand Constitutional rights againstthose who would see in theirphysical and cultural differences a'license' to hunt, trap, or kill them."
