The MiniMe subwoofers were the first Earthquake products in our range to receive hugeacclaim. It was their ability to generate enormous power from a small form factor and theirgreat finish. The combination of digital Class D amplification and the active speaker andpassive radiator design (SLAPS) meant that a shockingly dynamic and powerful impact wasfelt from even the diminutive 8" subwoofer. The finish is also more consistent with that ofmusical instruments with a total of 7 layers of piano lacquer.

Since April, we expanded the range to include the black 8", 10", 12" and white 8". In the lastshipment, we further added the front firing MiniMe. It is built in a pressure chamber housingrather than using the passive radiator like other MiniMe subwoofers. This means that it canbe located within furniture or placed in a tight corner.

The final addition for 2013 was the MKVI Supernova subwoofers. These are the pinupcentrefolds of the Earthquake range. They use the legendary Earthquake Class J patentedamplification. The settings are also quite unique, meaning that you can have greater flexibilitywhen it comes to the ideal placement of the Supernova sub.

If you're passionate about home theatre and have a good understanding of calibratingmultichannel audio, then I'd suggest reading the reviews on the product pages of bothSupernova MKVI subs.

Up until recently, we have stocked only the XJ series of Earthquake amplifiers. They havemultiple applications including powering in-wall subwoofers, like the Earthquake Thorsubwoofer, speaker setups like the 2.1 Earthquake rock speakers and even for the seat-shaking Earthquake tactile transducers. All 3 models, the XJ300, XJ700 and XJ1000,feature Class J amplification. This is the same design as found in the top of the range MKVISupernova subwoofers.

Uniden must sell huge numbers of home phones, so shouldn't they be nervous about

everyone using mobile phones? In the case of the new XDECT phones, rather than focus onthe remaining market, Uniden have chosen to focus on the owners of mobile phones.

Most of us get home and throw the mobile on the charger. The new Uniden will take the roleof charging your phone. It will also connect to your mobile phone via Bluetooth. If you geta call, you can receive it from one of your more conveniently placed Uniden home phones.

Most households have more than one mobile, which isn't an issue. The Unidens will allow youto connect up to 4 mobiles via Bluetooth.

THE FASTEST WAY TO SET UP A RECEIVER

When you install a Yamaha AventageReceiver, plug it into the power pointand connect it to your network (Router).

Download the Yamaha App. As soonas you open the App, you'll see an IPaddress as per the screenshot below.

Type that same IP address into anycomputer on the network (or Wi-Fi) via your chosen internet browserand you'll see the Yamaha receivermanager menu as per the screenshotbelow.

The Tannoy 500 series received amazing reviews. Dual concentricspeakers will send the sound from one point, rather than multiplepoints. It makes it ideal for a centre channel.

In 2014, we are focusing our attention onfewer speaker brands, meaning we will beholding more backup stock of those brandsand doing everything to clear others. Sohere's what we're clearing... Dali was oneof our yesteryear favourites with Radio Partsbeing number 1 in Australia. If you're a fan ofthe legendary IKONspeaker with its ribbontweeter, then this is the last one! If you need

small speakers, which are as sturdy as abowling ball and have a load of power, thenthe FAZONis great value.

Tannoy was another case of Radio Parts being unable to pass up a deal. The Arena Lite(AL5.1S) are an amazing satellite kit, but had to be drastically reduced as no one could affordthe matching Tannoy speaker brackets.

The brackets cost as much as the speaker system! If you can find a flat surface or anotherway of mounting them, the Arena Lite is sure to impress.

The Arena Highline (AH300FB) and Mercury F4 (MERCURY F4-DO) speakers are also a

couple of "forgotten deals"we want them out of here and ideally in your living room!

B&W unfortunately discontinued the Weng'e finish. Weng'e was a popularchoice of wood for some of the top instruments, but Wikipedia tells me thatwe humans liked Weng'e a little too much and were left with no forests. Sonow we have found ourselves with a couple of left over speakers in the formof two of my favourite models, two units of the HTM61 centre speakers andone pair of 683front speakers. We have priced them at the same retail as

the HTM62and 684. That's a discount of $300 and $600 respectively!

While we're on the subject of B&W, the Unboxed program will be runninguntil January 25. If you buy a M1mini theatre system, certain subs or thepopular 600 series speakers, you might find that you're entitled to a latexmas present.

For over a decade, Radio Parts and Ness haveenjoyed a close relationship in the distributionof Aussie made alarm panels. What isn't sowell known is the connection between theNess, iCentral and Valet brands.

In 1998 Ness started designing andmanufacturing Valet home intercoms inAustralia. Tens of thousands of Valet systems

have been installed around the country. Thepopularity is as much to do with simplicity as itis to do with functionality. iCentral offers musicin each room, intercom around the house andvideo for certain models. Cabling is via CAT5,so installation isn't complex.

Since these systems are so common, there'shuge demand for also the maintenance andupgrading of Valet / iCentral systems. iCentralproducts are virtually hot-swappable with Valetproducts with the d200 door stations fittinginto the same space as the old Valet system.

This means no brick work and the ability toupgrade an old system to a camera system.

RAPSTRAP SAVES MONEY!

Rapstraps are popular as they are gentle on the (PVC) stealthof a cable. The pressure is also nicely spread over the cable,meaning the signal or attenuation is less affected. If you wantRapstrap also to be an economical choice, make sure that youfeed the Rapstrap though the hole at the end of the cable. Oncethe cable is wrapped, you can cut the Rapstrap and continue touse the same piece. Often you'll get around 5 secured cables forevery piece of Rapstrap, making it also an economical choice.

Currently our houses are packed with USB powersupplies, which are being used to power phones,tablets, radios, LED lamps and more. There are 2reasons for the adoption of USB power supplies.1. We're seeing the capacity of these USB power

supplies increase from 0.5A to 2A, meaning itcould potentially power devices up to 10W.

2. Electronics are becoming vastly more efficient, somore and more devices draw less than 10W.

By this logic, we should see more and more devicesopting for USB as the default power source. Using

a lumpy USB power supply on every power point is

no longer acceptable. There are lots of USB power

points (GPOs) on the market, but the PT9822 is

fully approved and well built. The rear of the GPO is

also small enough to fit into existing cutouts. Many

competing models won't accommodate for the plaster

clips, meaning extra costly labour time.
