President’s Message
President's final report for the year 2019-2020
What a year we've had. It seems to have gone by
quickly but we have achieved a lot.
We've had some interesting Zoom meetings and it makes me wonder if this is the
way of the future. However there's nothing like seeing each other in person.
Around 25 of us gathered in Lions Park on Tuesday 9th June to share stories and
food.
We were able to make a presentation to Dagmar (see great Facebook photos from
Bev). David Watts made a speech about Dagmar's contribution and service to Lions
over many years and then handed her the large certificate "James D. Richardson
Honour Award." Congratulations.
No doubt you've all heard about Ross Paine receiving an OAM in the Queens
Honours list. I loved the heading on the interesting article which read "Queen gives
her Stamp of Approval". Ross has worked tirelessly with stamp collecting and
preparing them for sale to raise thousands of dollars for the Australian Lions
Children's Mobility Foundation.
The Changeover of the Board will take place on the 7th July via Zoom and I wish
Michael O'Brien and his team all the best for the year ahead.
Thanks to all Club members for your continued efforts and I am sure it won't be long
before we can get back to work in the vans.
President
Janelle
LION ROSS PAIN OAM
Congratulation Lion Ross on the effort you have put in to earn your
OAM. You have been to all the Conventions and what else to catch
the last licking stamp in Australia, just because you are a Lion.
The Lions organisation needs people like you so I hope you are training up another great Lion to take over your spot when you run out of glue.
This is your magazine so send me via E-MAIL what you are up to in the garden send Photos of flowers, Australian places and Structures and where they are.
How many years ago was this photo taken?
If you are good at figures it should not take you long to get the
answer.
But where was it taken could take longer.

DOUBT THOUGHT I WAS SLACKING!
Dear Lion,
This year has truly been unlike any other in our history. Your
incredible innovation and commitment to serving safely in our
world’s greatest time of need has helped your community to
stay strong. We have faced great challenges, but we have
also achieved great things together.
I’m so proud to announce that this year we’ve accomplished
our LCI Forward goal of serving more than 200 million people
per year around the world. From preventing diabetes to
preserving sight, each person we served is a life we’ve
changed. So let us celebrate this very special moment.
And let us remember that the world needs Lions now more
than ever. Your community needs you more than ever. I am
so proud of you, and what we’ve achieved this year. I look
forward to the incredible things we will accomplish together
as Lions in the years to come.
Regards,
Dr. Jung-Yul Choi

Hi Lions We are at the start of new Lions year and are wanting to get more members involved in committees. Your new Board has been working diligently to ‘spread the load’ and we have 21 committees and Chairs in place. In particular we have a couple of new ones and we are asking for additional volunteers for these.
New Fundraising (Chair Ian Glew) – This committee is tasked with looking at new ways to raise funds as many of our existing methods may not be available post-Covid.
Community Assistance (Chair Carmen Hackshaw) – This committee is designed to speed up the way we provide assistance particularly to our own community by doing preparatory work so the Board can make decisions more efficiently.
Equipment (Chair Peter Orlicek) - This committee will ensure that all the non-fixed assets of the Club are maintained and safe.
Safety (Chair Colin Crisp) – This is an existing committee but is tasked with ensuring the all Lions are kept safe in the new world.
In addition to these standing committees, Service Chair, Ross Barker, will be looking for event coordinators during the year =- when he knows what events we will be conducting. TNLC is fortunate to have a host of intelligent and hardworking Lions so I am sure that the committees mentioned will attract plenty of volunteers. Please respond directly to the Chair people mentioned. Cheers Paul

YEARLY MEMBERSHIP/MEDIA-MARKETING REPORT for 2019/2020
My role this year as Marketing and Membership Chair has been a real eye opener
for me. I am in awe of lots of members who have volunteered year in and year out
to give our Community their time, effort and loyalty, to make our Community a
better place to live.
If you ask these Lions what makes them keep on going, they will say – they love the
feeling that they get when they have made a difference in someone else’s life. The
rewards are abounding and once you get that feeling, you just want more.
I have had a really great time as Membership/Media Chairperson and have gained
lots of knowledge and many memories and had some great challenges in order to
reach my goals for the year.
We started the year with 53 Members –
We lost 5 – which left 48 active Members -
We gained 7 – so there are 55 active Members at the end of 2020.
Things that helped to attract new Members:
New Prospective Member Kit and new way of introducing prospective
members to the Club. Following up and encouraging people to join us at our
Meetings and events.
Lions Awareness Day – Thanks to everyone who was on duty for Clean Up
Australia especially May Duncan and Sheila Glew. We interacted with some
people on that day and handed out lots of brochures.
Lots of exposure in Facebook of our activities and also fun days that we had.
Lots of exposure in Newspapers and TV News for disasters – drought,
bushfires, donations etc.
Videos produced by Noosa Council for our Club and for all Service Clubs in
the area.
Lots of exposure in Lion Hunter and Lions Australia magazines.
Selling of Christmas Cakes – we had contact with lots of people and left
brochures at these destinations with the cakes.
Thank you for all the people who volunteered their time and put in the effort to
help in these disasters and who actually took the time to help with the compilation
of the Videos and interviews.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
New shirts, new Prospective Member kit, better Media exposure, healthier
Facebook exposure, new Members who brought with them NEW ENTHUSIASM!!!
Thank you to all of our new Members in 2019\2020.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Board Members for 2019/20, who
have been so kind and helpful to me in all of my endeavours. Love you all!!
I WOULD PERSONALLY LIKE TO THANK LION BEV FOR ALL
THE WORK SHE DID WITH MEMBERSHIP AND FOR THE
FANSTATIC REPORTS SHE PRODUCED FOR THE PELICAN
BRIEF.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK IN LIONS!
