2019-2020 STUDENT
COUNCIL ELECTED Congratulations to our 2019-2020 Student
Council! We are extremely proud of these
students’ efforts to be elected to the council by campaigning, delivering a speech, and
being voted in by TCS middle school
students. These students are already amazing leaders and we cannot wait to continue to see
them grow in their leadership skills. You will
see these students running the cookie dough/
butter braid fundraiser, $1 Dress-Down Days, candy gram fundraiser, bake sale at the TCS Craft Fair, and more. They will also plan the middle
school late night, Spirit Week, and pep assemblies. In addition, these students will attend leadership
conferences to help them grow in their leadership skills. We are thankful for all the hard work they will put
in this year, serving our school to continue to make it a wonderful place.

FIRST BOX TOPS COLLECTION IS OCT. 15 Three times throughout the school year, we collect Box Tops for Education. The pink
Box Tops coupons may be found on a wide variety of items. You can find a
comprehensive list online here. Our very first Box Tops collection date for the year is
Oct. 15! Every child who turns in 75 Box Tops receives a dress-down-day coupon! Please
remember to put the Box Tops in a small baggie or envelope labeled with your child’s
name and teacher, and the number of Box Tops.
For parents who have downloaded the new Box Tops App, thank you! If you have
scanned Box Tops from your receipts already this school year and want them to count towards your
child’s collection for a dress-down-day coupon, please write down the total earnings from the app.
Example - if you have 50 Box Tops cut out and also have scanned $2.50 (25) that would equal 75
total Box Tops. Please just include a note with your scanned total.
If you haven’t downloaded the new Box Tops app, please do so! It is super easy to use! This is going
to be a transitional year for the Box Tops program, as they are phasing out the old Box Tops and
will be going strictly electronic. If you have questions about the app or how Box Tops work, please
reach out to Mrs. Dawn Oswalt at [email protected]

Chapel Notes, by Harry E., Guest Contributor to the Son Times
Chapel Speaker: Pastor Curtis Bryant
Wednesday in chapel, Pastor Curtis Bryant spoke to us about how God wants us to love one another. Before all of that, we had birthdays and recognized the Students of the Month for September. The speaker brought in Bozo the Clown and joked about him for a while. Then he started saying that Bozo came with instructions and how God instructs us to love one another. God created us to love and to be loved. Love is not rude so we shouldn’t be mean to each other.

celebrate them and show how much we appreciate their ministry. We will begin the morning with

SELL COOKIE DOUGH, WIN GREAT PRIZES! Student Council and the Athletic Department encourage all of the student body to get
involved in selling cookie dough/butter braids to raise money for the school. Order
forms went home yesterday. There are some great incentives and prizes this year,
including a chance to win a life-sized stuffed animal; a Lego basket including a large
set and other Lego essentials; and a movie basket including passes, snacks and more.
Students can earn an opportunity to SLIME and/or SILLY STRING our very own
administrator, Mr. V.! There are also classroom competitions along with the overall
top seller prizes. The money raised will be used by Student Council and the Athletic
Department for a wide variety of things for the school and student body. Support your school and sell, sell, sell!
There are extra forms available in the front office if you need more.
SEND STUDENTS TO SCHOOL WITH WARM APPAREL Cooler temperatures are on the way, starting this weekend. With that in mind, please make sure your child has the appropriate gear for recess. Students go outside for recess as long as it is not raining and the “feels like” temperature is 20 degrees or more. Your student should have gloves, a scarf, hat, warm coat and any other gear needed to stay warm while outside. If you are a volunteer helping with recess, please be sure to dress warmly.
In the event of an emergency, when we need to leave the building or even getting in and out of vehicles, it is best for students to be wearing appropriate apparel. Please be sure to LABEL EVERYTHING. Lost coats, hats, gloves can be easily returned if we know who they belong to.
In the event of school closing due to inclement weather, please check the school’s website or Facebook page for information. You may also call the school to hear about school closing information through our automated system or stay tuned to local news stations for school closing updates.
