Developed Developing Underdeveloped Concepts of Mankind

Without Ethical and Spiritual Values progress becomes curse than boon.

In economic terms most of the nations presume developing nation should have its GDP per capita and

PPP (purchasing power parity) to increase by some percentage (%) every consecutive year. There are

also other Indexs to measure the progress/ development of the nation.

United Nations under UNDP 1990 published its first Human Development Report (HDR) in which Human

Development Index (HDI) become a tool to measure the levels of development.

    The three parameters in HDI

    Standard of living- per capita income adjusted for differing PPP Knowledgeeducational attainment (2:3) among adults. i.e.,: 2 should be educated out of 3 ;

    school enrollment 1:3

    Life Expectancyaverage lifeHDI scale 0.000-1.000 ; Low H.Development : 0.000-0.499 ; Medium H.D : 0.500-0.799 ; High: 0.800-

    1.000

Thus the development is been quantified based on these parameters. Even WORLD BANK also used

these reports to quantify levels of development of nations, in accordance funds were allocated. There

the problem started all the nations started emphasizing on these parameters.

But in real scenario, these #3 parameters cannot determine the level of development in any particular

    nation.

Western world has been declared the DEVELOPED NATIONS having top 20 ranks on HDI, but

thing is these nations couldnt assure happiness and good state of lives. Yes u read it right, I mean to

say developed nations also raise in their crime rate, corruption, burglaries rape, moral degradation,

sexual perversion, human trafficking etc.,. They how come these nations called as DEVELOPED

    NATIONS

So to redefine Development, its a state of good life, delivering real happiness of mankind.

Thus mere numbers cannot define the whole nature of the country in terms of development.

Lets assume Development = Happiness of the mankind.

So, nations are able to deliver the MATERIALISTIC HAPPINESS to human kind but failed to deliver the

other side of Happiness i.e., NON-MATERIALISTIC HAPPINESS.

World is so busy in calculating there wealth say like gold reserves, PPP, GDP, per capita income etc, and

also striving hard to ranked in single digits in development. In this context they are just improving the

materialistic happiness. So, half phased apple is shown and is presumed as a full one.

Non-Materialistic Happiness lies in: ethics, religion, spiritualism, cultural values, Good governance and

    humanity.

When these are achieved the partial definitions of development will be locked in the dark room. All

countries will witness the real essence of Development with fruitful results.

    However small country named

Bhutan, Buddhist country lies near Himalayas introduced new concept GNH i.e., GROSS NATIONAL

HAPPINESS to measure there development officially. It follows the targets set by GNH officially.

    Parameters of GNH:

Higher Per capita income (common in every study) Good governance Environmental protection Culturalpromotion (i.e., ethical and spiritual values)
