The Bottom Line:• HS Motion are added motion products to the Horner Product

Basket ON TOP OF the normal automation products• In North America, all motion products are managed,

supported and stocked out of Indianapolis• In the Midwest:

– Some Distributors are Horner only– Some Distributors are HS Motion only– Some Distributors are Horner + HS Motion (Power/mation)

• HS motion products do require a separate purchase order• Only Tek-matic in Rockford overlaps in this area

Good Initial Targets• Existing Horner Accounts with Motion Requirements• Accounts with a need for Motion, but whose primary knowledge

base is ladder logic• Accounts which would like an integrated solution, but are unable

or unwilling to make the learning curve investment in competitive solutions from companies like B&R and others

Page 6: Introduction to HS Motion Group. What is HS Motion Group? An alliance between Horner Automation Group and Servotronix Motion Control, provides an all-in-one

Example Industries / Applications• Metal Fab (especially feeders)• Water Jet Cutters• Material Handling & Packaging (not form-fit-seal)• Medical Equipment & Some SEMI• Non-Coordinated Motion• Indexing• Currently No High-speed Embedded Motion Profile Downloads• Currently No Precision Master-Slaving (we can do gearing, but

currently require the use of scripting in the drive)

Motion BlocksMotion Control Function Blocks are a convenient way for Motion to be Initiated from the OCS Controller. When triggered in logic, parameters and instructions are sent over the network and executed by the drive.

Page 28: Introduction to HS Motion Group. What is HS Motion Group? An alliance between Horner Automation Group and Servotronix Motion Control, provides an all-in-one

Motion BlocksThis block defines the homing function. Homing has 32 different options for the homing method as per CANopen DS402 Motion profile. The homing cycle command will only be sent upon the falling edge of the input trigger. This command is only valid if the drive is in ‘Homing’ mode.

Page 29: Introduction to HS Motion Group. What is HS Motion Group? An alliance between Horner Automation Group and Servotronix Motion Control, provides an all-in-one

Motion Blocks

This block defines the absolute move for the drive. The command is only valid when the drive is in ‘Position’ mode. The units for the move are those set during configuration. The absolute position zero is the start-up position of the drive if a homing cycle is not performed. Absolute moves are referenced to the zero position. The command is sent on the falling edge of the input trigger. Power is passed immediately the input is active (high). The move is performed using the acceleration and deceleration defined during configuration or set using the acceleration and deceleration blocks.

Motion Blocks

This block defines the relative move for the drive. The command is only valid when the drive is in ‘Position’ mode. The units for the move are those set during configuration. The relative target position is relative to the current position and can be considered as an offset from the current position. The command is sent on the falling edge of the input trigger. Power is passed immediately the input is active (high). The move is performed using the acceleration and deceleration defined during configuration or set using the acceleration and deceleration blocks.

Motion Blocks

This block defines a constant Velocity to move the motor at. The current acceleration and deceleration limits will be used to start and stop this move. This command is only valid when the drive is in ‘Velocity’ mode.
