2019 - 2022Surveying is a modern profession acting worldwidefor a better infrastructure for our society and planet earth.

Vision

FIG wants to keep, and even improve, its role as the premier non-governmental organisation, that represents the interests of surveyors worldwide

Motto

Volunteering for the Future !

Land administration as contribution to the SDGs

FIG-Publication 60, 2014

Only 30% of the land worldwide is registered!

Source: World Bank Conference “Land and poverty” March 2019

Land registration is contributing to …

Social and civil security Peace Economic benefits (loan, …) Less conflicts due to land

Page 10: International Federation of Surveyors Fédération ...ggim.un.org/meetings/GGIM-committee/9th-Session...International Federation of Surveyors. Fédération Internationale des Géomètres

Land administration as contribution to the SDGs

ok, …. Is there enough time / money for the implementationof a classical cadastre??

Land registration Ambitious target until 2030 …. increase of + 30%

NO

FFP is an interesting general approach, which needs to be adapted to each single case !!

Page 11: International Federation of Surveyors Fédération ...ggim.un.org/meetings/GGIM-committee/9th-Session...International Federation of Surveyors. Fédération Internationale des Géomètres

Our role in „FFP-approach“ ?

YES, classical cadastre is too expensive and not fast enough

But this does not mean that the realisationis always easy and without problems!!

Expectations are sometimes too high!!Time +++ costs +++ maintenance +++ updates +++

Faster solutions adapted to the specific needs For example: based on the FFP-Approach (Enemark et al. 2014)

!! also reservations regarding FFP in our own community !!

Page 12: International Federation of Surveyors Fédération ...ggim.un.org/meetings/GGIM-committee/9th-Session...International Federation of Surveyors. Fédération Internationale des Géomètres

Our lessons to be learned here! FFP = Fit for Purpose

FFP does not replace classical cadastre ... it is rather an extension !!!

FFP is not a ready-to use-solution!

FFP we need best-practice examples and textbooks!!

…. Surveyors who do not act ethically correct …. Lawyers who do not act ethically correct…. Notaries who do not …..

Rumours

Include ethical codex and training

Page 13: International Federation of Surveyors Fédération ...ggim.un.org/meetings/GGIM-committee/9th-Session...International Federation of Surveyors. Fédération Internationale des Géomètres

Our role in „FFP-approach“ ?

IF we “the surveying + geospatial”-community are not participating …. it will happen without us!

Offering a platform for stakeholders Being a link between stakeholders Building the capacity for new

adapted approaches !!

Role of FIG
