Planning Advice Pack - Using GeoMedia WebMap
Speaker: Phil Hughes, GIS Coordinator, Mornington Peninsula
The Planning Scheme in Victoria is a wild beast and it’s a planner’s job to try and tame it. As most of Mornington’s planning and property data is stored in a GIS environment, it makes sense to utilise existing data and tools.
The Planning Advice Pack is a tool developed in conjunction with Intergraph to enable any staff to produce a report and maps of a particular property with only the relevant planning information related to that property. The information is extracted from the GIS using GeoMedia WebMap and produced in a PDF format for easy distribution.

Spatial Linking of Customer Information
Speaker: Andrew Holden, GIS Administrator, ETSA Utilities
In 2005, ETSA Utilities implemented Intergraph’s InService Outage Management System to help track and manage network outages. A key component of this implementation has been linking customer information to the distribution network.
ETSA Utilities has established a process to automatically link information from multiple sources, including the Customer Information System (CIS) and Geographic Information System (GIS), to create a spatial relationship between its customers and network.
Customer address details maintained in the CIS are matched against property information held within the GIS. A relationship is created between the unique customer number and the electricity distribution supply point. This enables real-time analysis and reporting and improved management of outage events.
10.00 am
NSW Spatial Data Infrastructure directions and what it means for the spatial industry
Speaker: Pedro Harris, Chief Information Technology Office, NSW Department of Lands
Governments’ across the world are starting to make its Spatial Data Infrastructure available to support decision making, business intelligence and e-business functions. Whilst SDI is important to government processes it is also used by private sector companies and there is a growing demand by the general public for access to it. This is being fuelled by Initiatives of Google and Microsoft. SDI Metadata nodes are being planned and aggregation is occurring at Region, Country, State, Function/Cluster and Agency.
This presentation will take a look at contemporary development occurring in NSW with State Metadata and Function/Cluster nodes. It will consider issues such as convergence of GIS and IS and Service Oriented Architectures for spatial delivery.

Managing Work Across Australia - An Application Based on Microsoft’s Virtual Earth
Speaker: David Norris, System Manager, GIS Development, South East Water
South East Water Limited (SEWL) and Intergraph recently created an application called ‘Locate US’ to provide mapping capability outside of SEWL’s geographic area. Based on Microsoft’s Virtual Earth (VE), the development goes beyond SEWL’s metro boundaries to manage work across Australia. The application maps vehicle locations and tracks, points of interest such as boreholes, hydrographic sites and SCADA, and key customers. It is served up over the web to various external customers using SharePoint.
This presentation will cover the functionality of Locate US, the development process, use of SharePoint, customer acceptance, and next steps for SEWL, including spatial queries using GeoMedia WebMap v6.0.
11.10 am
ANZLIC Standard Metadata for GeoMedia
Speaker: David Bruce, OMNILINK
The need for knowledge of what information an organisation holds is of increasing importance. Everyone knows that you need metadata (data about data) - the challenge has always been “where to start” - particularly with spatial metadata. Knowing what data you have can save significant amounts of time and money for an organisation and provide an on-going return on investment for data as well as a recognition of value.
This paper will review the new international standards for metadata, the status of their adoption within Australia and New Zealand and how a suite of tools is available to streamline the creation, management and dissemination of metadata within an organisation as well as with external agencies.

Use of Intergraph Computer Aided Dispatch in a Multi-Agency Situation
Speaker: John Weippert, Director Information and Communications Technologies, Northern Territory Police Fire and Emergency Services (NTPFES)
Are law enforcement and emergency management organisations providing the best service to the community? If not, why not, and how could CAD be implemented to maximise service and benefit to the community? Is there a model for this; where is it happening; and how can organisations learn from others?
Mr John Weippert will detail how the NTPFES have and continue to be a model for Australia and the world of multi-agency Computer-Aided Dispatch. Mr Weippert will examine issues associated with mapping, a new CAD centre, the benefits of integration, and the operation of Police, Fire, Ambulance and Emergency Services in the one site.

RACV’s Service Strategy: How the Intergraph System is Utilised in the Delivery of Road Service to Members
Speaker: Rod Chapman, General Manager Member Contact Centres, RACV
The Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) is Victoria’s premier motoring organisation and for many Victorians it is synonymous with the provision of emergency roadside assistance. RACV manages the dispatch of service vehicles to around 3,000 breakdowns each day with the aid of its Intergraph Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
Mr Rod Chapman will detail how RACV leverages the auto-dispatch capabilities of the system to best meet its Estimated Time of Arrival promise to members. Mr Chapman will also discuss how the CAD system helps to efficiently balance the service provider workload between the fixed cost resources of RACV’s own patrols and the variable cost of its contractor workforce.

Speaker: Marcos De Souza, Professional Services Consultant, Intergraph
A session for administrators and technical users.
12.30 pm
Airborne Imagery for Critical Infrastructure Protection, Disaster & Emergency Management
Speaker: Mark Freeburn, Project Delivery Manager, AAMHatch
Advances in airborne mapping technologies and techniques have revolutionised how we capture and create high resolution (large scale) maps and data sets. The recent advent of large format digital cameras (vertical and oblique) and airborne laser scanners allows us to rapidly capture and disseminate highly detailed models of critical infrastructure.
Coupled with these advances has been the rapid development of internet based tools for visualising and disseminating high resolution geospatial data sets. Tools such as Google Earth and Microsoft Virtual Earth have brought high resolution topographic information and “immersive models” to the “mass market”. This presentation will focus on the latest airborne mapping tools and their application in infrastucture protection and emergency management.
