TheMX2/MX3seriessolidstatestart-erprovidesreducedvoltagesteplessaccelerationandautomaticsynchro-nizationofthreephaseacsynchro-nousmotors.Synchronousmotorsareutilizedforanumberofreasons.Theyareusedinapplicationsthatrequireprecisemotorspeed.Theyareusedtoobtaingreaterefficiencies,andtheyareusedforfacilitypowerfactorcorrection.

Sincesynchronousmotorscanbeoperatedatleadingpowerfactor,theyareusedtocorrectafacility’slaggingpowerfactorcreatedbyalltheotherinductionmotorsbeingoperated.

Thesolid-statestarteriswiredtothemotorstatorcircuit,andtheresistorandshortingcontactorarewiredtothemotorrotorcircuit.Thesolidstatestarteracceleratesthemotortoslipspeed(determinedbytheresistancevalue)andthenactivatesthecontac-tortoshorttherotor.Thisallowsthemotortoacceleratetofullspeed.

Multiple Step Rotor Circuit
