The height of the dishwasher frontpanel can be adjusted to matchneighbouring kitchen units. To do thisyou will have to trim the decor panel, the filler card underneath it and thedecor frame strips to size.

If you wish you can fit a decor panel tomatch your kitchen furniture instead ofthe one supplied with the machine. Todo this you will need a new decor panelcut to the correct size (see "Calculatingthe height of a new decor panel"section on the next page).

Before calculating the height of thedecor panel you must first set thedishwasher to its correct height (seestep 2 "Building the dishwasher into itsniche").

Measurement X equals the distancefrom the lower edge of the dishwasherdoor to the lower edge of an adjacentkitchen unit door front.

The decor panel supplied with thedishwasher is 604 mm high. To matchthe height of the panel supplied orcreate a new decor panel thismeasurement needs to be shortenedby dimension X.

    Installing built-under "U" model dishwashers

    27

  • Adapting the height of the decorpanel supplied

^ Mark the measurement X on the leftand right hand side of the decorpanel and on the decor frame strips.

^ Take off and shorten the decor framestrips, the decor panel and the fillercard (see Step 4).

Calculating the height of a new decorpanel

You can substitute the decor panelsupplied with the dishwasher with apanel to match your kitchen decor.

The dimensions for the new panel mustbe as follows:

    Width:587 mm

Thickness:minimum 1 mm and maximum 4 mm.The filler card fitted behind the decorpanel supplied with the machine is notrequired for new panels if they are2 mm or more in thickness.

Height:604 mm less dimension X mm

^ Mark dimension X on the left andright hand side of the decor framestrips.

^ Take off the decor frame strips, thedecor panel and the filler card, andshorten the decor frame strips, andthe filler card (if used). See Step 4.

4.Matching the plinth facing ofa kitchen run

^ Pull the dishwasher out of its recessenough to allow easy access to thefront panel fixing screws on eitherside of the door.

^ Loosen and remove the fixing screwsand push the side decor frame stripsdownwards until they are free of thedishwasher outer door panel and canbe removed.

    Installing built-under "U" model dishwashers

    28

  • ^ Bow the panel slightly, pull it out fromunder the control panel and take itoff.

^ Shorten the decor frame strips, andthe filler card (if used) by dimensionX.

^ When using the decor panelsupplied: Draw a line to join the twomarks for measurement X. Shortenthe decor panel along this line.

,To avoid the risk of scratchingthe decor panel and decor framestrips you can cover the cutting lineswith adhesive tape. Make sure thatyou use a tool which is suitable forcutting the material from which thepanel and decor frame strips aremade. If in doubt seek professionaladvice. Sand down any roughedges.

When the decor frame strips areshortened, the hook on the lower edgeis cut off. This hook is only needed formaximum length decor frame strips. Itis used for securing the strips to thedoor outer panel.

^ Loosen the screws a in the doorouter panel, but do not unscrewcompletely.

^ Push the lower edge of the adapterplate b (corresponding to dimensionX) upwards far enough for its loweredge to be in a line with the loweredge of the adjacent kitchen unitdoor front(s).

^ Tighten the screws a in the adapterplate.

    Installing built-under "U" model dishwashers

    29

  • ^ Refit the filler card (if used) and thedecor panel. Fit the decor panel intothe lower decor frame strip, positionthe filler card behind it, bow thedecor panel forwards and slide underthe control panel.

^ Ensure the decor panel is fittedcorrectly. If necessary, re-adjust theheight of the adapter plate.

^ Put back the left and right hand sidedecor strips and push them up overthe adapter plate from below.

The adapter plate must grip the guidegroove at the rear edge of the decorframe strip.

^ Screw in the fixing screws into thedecor frame strips.

  • 5.Securing the dishwasherTo ensure stability, the dishwasher mustbe fixed securely to the worktop. Twosecuring pieces are supplied with thedishwasher for this purpose.

^ Fit the securing pieces into the slotson both the left and right hand sides.

^ Push the dishwasher right back intoits recess (making sure it is correctlyaligned).

    ^ Open the dishwasher door.

The holes in the securing piecesmust line up with the long holes inthe worktop cover plate. If this is notthe case, adjust the position of thedishwasher in the niche (ensure thatthe dishwasher is the same distancefrom the neighbouring kitchen unitson the right and left hand sides andline the dishwasher door front upwith neighbouring door fronts).

^ Screw the countersunk screws(3.9 x 22) supplied upwards throughthe securing pieces on the left andright hand sides into the work surfaceto secure the dishwasher.

Ensure that the seal on the top edgeof the dishwasher fits directlyagainst the worktop. If this is not the case, adjust the feeta bit more (see step 2 "Screw feet").

Granite and marble worktops:With these worktops the dishwashermust be securely screwed toneighbouring units on the right and lefthand sides. To do this you need twospecial fixing brackets. These areincluded in the accessory packsupplied with the dishwasher togetherwith fitting instructions.

  • 6.Adjusting the door springsThe door springs are correctly adjustedwhen the door remains stationary whenleft open at 45°.

If the door drops down, the doorsprings need to be tightened.

If the door rises up the springs need tobe loosened.

The adjusting screw is located in theupper front strip at the left hand side ofthe dishwasher.

Please note:If the door front is too heavy for thedoor springs (i.e. the door falls open)then stronger springs should be fitted. Please contact your Miele dealer or theMiele Service Department for advice.

^ Half open the dishwasher door.

The door springs are easier to adjustwhen the door is only half open thanwhen it is fully open.

^ Adjust the door spring with a TorxT20 or a 1 x 5.5 mm screwdriver untilit is correctly balanced:- Turn clockwise to tighten.- Turn anti-clockwise to loosen.

  • 7.Adjusting the plinth returnThe plinth return on a "U" modeldishwasher can be adjusted between35 and 100 mm in 2.5 mm increments.

^ Push the spring clips on either side ofthe dishwasher outwards and pushthe brackets right in.

    On dishwashers G 636 - G 698G 975

    The fixing brackets face inwards.

    On dishwashers G 836 - G 898

    The fixing brackets face outwards.

    Installing built-under "U" model dishwashers

    33

  • The plinth facing has two cutting lines.

^ Screw the plinth facing on to thebrackets with the cutting linestowards the top. Then pull the facingout evenly to align it with plinthfacings on adjoining kitchencabinets.

If you have pulled the plinth facingout too far you must not attempt topush it back in. It will have to beunscrewed and taken off. The springclips can then be pushed outwardsand the brackets pushed back in.The facing can then be re-attachedand adjusted again.

  • 8.Matching the plinth facing ofa kitchen run

The plinth facing supplied will fit withoutmodification:

    – for a maximum plinth return of 100mm

    – and when the machine is set to itsmaximum height (feet fully extended- max. 5 cm).

If the machine height is lower than themaximum, and the plinth recess is lessthan 100 mm, the plinth facing will needto be trimmed to size.To prevent the door hitting the plinthfacing when the dishwasher door isopened the height of the plinth facinghas to be adjusted to suit the height ofthe dishwasher and the depth of theplinth return.

^ Carefully open the dishwasher dooruntil the rear bottom edge of thedishwasher door touches the plinthfacing.

^ Using the front lower edge of thedishwasher door as a guide, draw ahorizontal line across the plinthfacing.

    ^ Unscrew the plinth facing.

^ To shorten the plinth facing:- either trim along this line with

a saw;or– cut along one of the cutting lines

if it is close enough to the lineyou have drawn.Score the cutting line along theplinth facing and then break offthe excess.

^ Screw the plinth facing back onto thebrackets, with the cutting line at thebottom.

If the door still does not open smoothlythe plinth facing may need furthertrimming.
