Calendar of Events From the Principal www. nambuccahd-p.schools.nsw.edu.au Email: [email protected] Term 1 Week 7 8 March 2017 Giinigay Nambucca Heads School Community As some of you may be aware, yesterday a staff member had an anaphylactic reaction whilst at school. The staff member was taken to hospital by ambulance and is now making a recovery. The reaction was caused by contact with something outside of school. We all wish her a speedy recovery and will be there to support her with this. I want to thank our amazing staff for the professional way this was handled. Their actions and management ensured the safety of our staff and students and reassures me that our students are in great hands. This message is to let you know what happened, that everybody is OK and also to remind you of the importance of updated anaphylaxis, allergy, and asthma plans. These are all what we call “Health Care Plans”. They are displayed throughout our school so that we can manage situations just like this. Each year we need to update these plans and for us to implement these plans they must be signed by a doctor. If your child’s plan is due for an update please make your appointment ASAP with your doctor. If you are not sure if your child should have a plan we are more than happy to discuss this with you so please just call the school to find out. Inspirational Learners Just thought I would share a few images of the learning happening in our school. We have such great teachers and our little learners really are displaying excellence in our school. Here are a few snaps I took today: Alice and Blake are participating in their L3 Guided Reading session with Ms Bray. Principal’s Report cont…..

The following sequence of photos shows Mrs McKinney’s Word Works Lesson with Wallace and Allora. The students read the word within the book, then make the word with the magnetic letters and finally practice writing the word and saying it again. Every student in the class gets to participate in these learning opportunities with our teachers each week. I am sure you will all agree that this is exactly what you want to see for your child!

This final photo with Miss Sellars shows Chase practicing his words. You can see the “I Can Statement” on the desk which says “I can say words slowly and listen for the sounds”

PBL Focus Fun With Maths for Years 1-6

Payment Due Monday 13th March

Please remember to return payment for the Fun with Maths workshop next week. The cost is $5.50 per student for a 90 minute session filled with fun activities. We would like all students to attend. Please contact the front office if you require financial assistance.

Sessions are:

Wednesday 15th March

5-6H and 5-6M 11.30 – 1pm

1-2M and 1-2N

1.30 – 3pm

Thursday 16th March 3-4C – 9.30

11am

3-4KB and 3-4LM 11.30 – 1pm

1-2W and 1-2B

1.30-3pm

This week the focus for PBL learning is whole body listening. Students practised in the hall during the last assembly. Eyes watching, ears listening, mouths quiet and bodies calm. An important part of being a good listener is thinking about what the other person is saying. Following teachers’ directions the first time helps to keep students safe and helps them to learn. Teachers are watching for and rewarding good listeners all week.

‘Will we catch you being an excellent listener?’
