Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe alsoin Me. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, Iwould have told you. I go to prepare a p lace for you. And if I go and

prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself;that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and

the way you know. -John 14: 1-4

For years, Ingrid was more than a wife and mother. She was acomforter, a warm embrace, a giver of great advice, a woman of

wisdom, and a spirit filled with beauty, smiles, and laughter. Oh, did Imention laughter? Ingrid had the ability to brighten up the room with

her jokes and energy of having a good time. We as the family willcontinue to celebrate her life by reflecting on the good times that we

all shared. Although you will be truly missed, your spirit will live onwith us always and forever. Your Kids & Family

    Obituary

Ingrid McMillian of Mobile, Alabama is the daughter of the late Mr. andMrs. J.D & Thelma Whitfield. She departed her earthly home on Friday,January 18, 2013 in Mobile, Al. Before experiencing a terminal illness in1991, Ingrid was known for being the life of the party. Her personalityintertwined with her musical genius made her one of the most talentedfemale bass guitar players in the south during the 1970s.

Ingrids spirit of perseverance was like no other; she was a fighterto the very end. She was a two-time survivor of both bone and lungcancer. Amazingly, not only did she fight both cancers but she won;they were both in remission years before her time of death. Ingrids willconstantly shocked doctors because she always outlasted their textbookdiagnosis. One doctor gave her 8 years to live, but she lasted 21. Anotherdoctor gave her 24 hours after predicting that she was brain dead. However, she once again she maintained the strength to fight on andrecovered fully with no signs of brain damage. After being re-hospitalizedthis summer, Ingrid found herself once again fighting for her life. Afterstruggling for more than 90 days in a local hospital, she was removedfrom life-support.

After this was done, Ingrid was expected to live no more than an hour.Well, that was in October of 2012; and since then she has fought for morethan 100 additional days. Yes, she was a fighter and she did just that tothe very end. I hope that Ingrids life can teach us all a lesson about notgiving up, not giving in, and beating the odds when the odds are against

us. Most importantly, her life should teach us the power of God and thepower of prayer which are the main two things that she relied uponduring her illness. Ingrids wish and prayer 21 years ago was to surviveher illness long enough to see her youngest daughter Ashley reachadulthood. Well, God heard Ingrids prayer and granted her ultimatewish. Ashley is now 21 years-old. What an awesome God we serve!

She leaves to mourn her passing, a devoted first- husband, Mr. Eddie J.McMillian; two daughters, Mrs. Lela McMillian-Thomas of Atlanta, GA andMs. Ashley M. McMillian of Mobile, AL; one son; Mr. Jason E. McMillian of

Mobile, Al and a host of beloved grandchildren, other relatives, andfriends.
