Training & Assessment ServicesWorkplace Training and Assessment visitsWorkplace or on-the-job training simply means participants are applying theory to their daily tasks and up-skilling using work based activities. Orion offers three (3) service levels catering for the needs of learners from those with minimal experience to existing workers with extensive experience.

Distance LearningDistance delivery via correspondence allows participants to use a comprehensive set of paper-based learning resources that will guide learners through assessment tasks and supporting content. Learners can access support from trainers via email or phone if it is required.

eLearning (online)eLearning allows participants to access and interact with learning materials through an online learning system to achieve the assessment outcomes. Students are issued with a username and password via email so they can access the Orion eLearning system from any computer with internet access. Students’ progress is monitored by trainers through the system and they will provide feedback and assistance as required. Students may also seek support from trainers via email and phone.

Recognition of Prior LearningRPL is the process of gathering evidence of existing skill sets gained through any formal or informal training that can be aligned to the units of competency which make up the qualification. If assessed as competent through RPL students do not have to undertake formal training and assessment activities in order to obtain competency in the unit.

Mixed Delivery Blended or mixed-mode learning is a combination of some or all of the available methodologies so students, in conjunction with trainers, can select the best possible mix of delivery styles which meets their needs. This will be negotiated with participants as part of the Training Needs Analysis process to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.

Short courses Courses are structured training sessions covering specific topics and skill sets. Usually delivered over a single day (7 hours) the courses are designed to provide practical skills and develop knowledge across defined content areas. Short courses are held regularly at Orion.

Classroom based learningClassroom based learning is structured to have maximum of 20 students per class. This enables face to face training, with trainer and resources readily available at our head office branch based in Yeerongpilly.
