Discovery Building Construction

Discovery Class• Length: 6 weeks long• To all Eighth graders!• To Explore the IT program• To do basic Cad drawing • To build a small wood project

Tech I

• Length: Two semesters• To all 9th and 10th graders• To explore basic principles of technology• This is a modular class, mods may last from 5-

20 days• To name a few mods; CO2 car, bridge building,

rocketry, cad drawing, mechanical, and other projects

Small Gas Engines• Length: One semester• To all 10th – 12th graders• To understand the principles of the

internal combustion engines• Areas covered: Basic parts, Cooling

and Lubrication, Fuel systems, Electrical, Ignition, and Engine Overhaul

Wood Tech I• Length: One semester• To all 10th – 12th graders• To understand basic cabinet making• To learn to design, plan and make wood

projects with doors

Wood Tech II• Required: Wood Tech I• Length: One semester• To 10th – 12th graders• Advanced cabinet making including

doors and drawers

CAD• Computer Aided Drafting• 11th -12th graders• Any one who will go into engineering,

construction, and manufacturing needs to know how to draw.

• Make working drawings on the Computer

Building Construction• Required: Wood I• Length: Two semesters• To all 11th – 12th graders• Learning how to plan and build all parts

of a house.

Auto I• Required: Small gas engines• Length: Double Period, one semester• To all 11th – 12th graders• Students will cover 7 units of

instruction on the automobile• 50% in the classroom and 50%

working in the auto lab

Auto II• Required: Auto I• Length: Double period, one semester• Students will cover Brakes, Steering and

Suspension, and Engine Overhaul• 30% classroom and 70% Lab

Auto III• Required: Auto I• Length: Double Period, one

semester• Students will study clutches,

transmissions, and final drive train• Students will take the auto skills

test and compete in the state contest

Welding• Length: Two semesters• 11th – 12th graders• Learn safety of welding• Basic welds• Skills in Tig, Mig, OxAcy, Plasma

and Stick welding
