Vision Statement

Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary,

Mother of the Lord and our Mother.

NEW NATIVITY STATUES. To help celebrate our Parish

Feast, the Liturgy Committee last year decided to get ad-

ditional figures for the Nativity scene to be placed in our

church each Christmas. If anyone would like to memori-

alize any of the new Nativity statues please contact the

rectory. A plaque hangs each Christmas Season near the

Nativity with the listing of the indi-

viduals to remember in prayer. Avail-

able for Memorializing: Shepherds,

ox, ass and sheep. Please check with

Fr. O’Connor for more information.

Thank You. Father Chris and I would like to thank all

those who shared Christmas kindness with us. You are

much appreciated. - Father O’Connor

CHRISTMAS GIFT TO MY CHURCH. A special

Christmas collection for the parish is being taken up now

before Christmas Day. The Christmas letter from the pas-

tor asks that every parishioner prayerfully make a

fair share offering during this holy season. Extra

Christmas collection envelopes are in the church

today for those who did not receive the mailing.

The whole Pastoral Staff thanks you in advance

for your Christmas Gift to YOUR Church.

TE DEUM You are God: we praise you; You overcame the sting of death, You are the Lord: we acclaim you; and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers. You are the eternal Father: You are seated at God’s right hand in glory. All creation worships you. We believe that you will come, and be our judge.

To you all angels, all the powers of heaven, Come then, Lord, and help your people, Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise: bought with the price of your own blood, Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, and bring us with your saints heaven and earth are full of your glory. to glory everlasting.

The glorious company of apostles praise you. V. Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance. The noble fellowship of prophets praise you. R. Govern and uphold them now and always. The white-robed army of martyrs praise you. V. Day by day we bless you.

Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you: R. We praise your name for ever. Father, of majesty unbounded, V. Keep us today, Lord, from all sin. your true and only Son, worthy of all worship, R. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy. and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide. V. Lord, show us your love and mercy;

You, Christ, are the king of glory, R. for we put our trust in you. the eternal Son of the Father. V. In you, Lord, is our hope:

When you became man to set us free R. and we shall never hope in vain. you did not spurn the Virgin’s womb. The Te Deum is an ancient hymn of praise that clergy and religious recite on Sundays and Feasts. It is also often prayed on New Year’s Eve to praise and thank God for His handiwork and blessings as one calendar year passes to the next. I particularly like the positive tone of the last two lines. God Bless and Happy New Year!

PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD. Over the next ten months you will be in-vited to pray at home for more priests. We

invite individual parishioners & families to sign up to re-ceive a beautiful Good Shepherd statue into their home for one or two weeks and to pray for priestly vocations. A prayer kit & activity sheets about vocations will be also given to help you through your prayer week. At the end of the week, on Saturdays, we ask you to return the Good Shepherd Statue to the Parish Office so that it may be hand-ed over to another parishioner and/or family on Sunday. You may keep the activity sheets for further prayer and re-flection. Please consider signing up for our Prayer Cam-paign for Priestly Vocations. Simply fill in the form below and return it to the Parish Office or in the collection as soon as possible. Father Chris, Father O’Connor or a member of the Vocations Committee, will contact you soon afterwards about all the details.

LIVING LIGHTS. Securing an Annual Living Light Votive Candle to Honor a Loved One, Remember a Special Intention, or Mark a Milestone is a con-tinual and wonderful way to celebrate sentiments and offer intercessions of remembrance, hope and gratitude. Two wall mounted electric candle stands now hang in our church on either side of

the newly restored and expanded Saints’ Shrine. These unique and inviting candles are made of real wax with electrified illumination to insure your Living Light burns brightly throughout the year. A plaque displaying the name of your loved one, your intention, or your milestone will be mounted before your Living Light Votive Candle. Plaques will remain for the year you have secured your Living Light and may be renewed or rededicated for addi-tional 12 month periods. In addition to its rightful place before your Living Light in the Saints’ Shrine, your Loved One, Special Intention, or Milestone will also be included in the Living Light Section of the Parish Website. The Shepherd Speaks

Let us conclude the year by giving thanks and also by asking for forgiveness. The two togeth-er: giving thanks and asking for forgiveness. Let us give thanks for all the blessings which God has bestowed on us, especially for his patience and his faithfulness, which are manifest over the course of time, but in a singular way in the fullness of time, when

“God sent forth his Son, born of woman.” May the Mother of God, in whose name tomorrow we begin a new phase of our earthly pilgrim-age, teach us to welcome God made man, so that every year, every month, every day may be filled with his eternal Love. So be it! 12.31.13

CHRISTIAN INITIATION. Do you know a family member or friend who is interested in becoming a Catholic? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a wonderful pro-cess in our parish available to those who feel called to the Catholic Faith. New inquiry clas-ses have begun. The RCIA is also available for those Catholics who have not yet received First Eucharist or Confirmation. Call Fr. Chris(718-465-8534)for more info. MINISTRY OF HOSPITALITY. Those who are inter-ested in the Ministry of Hospitality to welcome visitors and parishioners to our doors at Sunday Mass are asked to contact Father O’Connor for more information. This min-istry is a result of the Parish Assembly and parishioners’ desire to make Incarnation a more welcoming place.

Gracious God and Father, we enter into your presence realizing you know us better than we know our-selves. You know the cares and sufferings we carry in our hearts. You call us to holiness and we trust you to lead us together on our journey to be a renewed Church, for with you all things are possible. Create us anew in Jesus Christ your Son. Liberate us from all that keeps us from you. Heal us from every form of sin and violence. Transform us to live your Word more profoundly. Awaken us to the sacred; rebuild trust among us. Enliven our parishes; reunite our families. May your Holy Spirit empower us to live as a community of love, freed to share in your work of recreating our world and restoring justice. We believe you are doing something new, calling us to arise together in Christ to celebrate the fullness of life. Amen.

CHURCH ETIQUETTE. Have a seat! We ask every-one to take their rightful place in the assembly using the pews at Mass. With the exception of a handful of celebra-tions each year there are seats for everyone. Standing along the walls in the back of the church is causing damage to the walls and prohibits those who might want to stop in church to say a little prayer by the shrines. It can block the entrance way and doesn’t allow people the use of the hym-nals which are needed for the hymns and psalm at Mass. Lastly, standing by the doors could give the impression that you are not fully engaged in the Celebration of the Eucha-rist: half in, half out, so to speak. So come in and have a seat and pray a while!

The PARISH CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE has begun enhancing the music at the 5PM Sunday evening Mass. The group largely made up of young people have placed their musical gifts at the service of the community. For more information, or if you would like to add your gifts, see Mr. Townsend after Mass or call him at 718.465.8534.

Incarnation Catholic Academy is seeking dedicated vol-unteers to assist our students who need additional help in Math and ELA. Volunteers will work one-on-one with stu-

dents from 3:00 – 4:00PM. Please consider spending some time, sharing your gift, and at the same time helping our students to succeed in school. This is your oppor-tunity to make a difference.

Our students at Incarnation are our future. Please contact us at [email protected] or call us at (718) 465 5066. Thank you.

2018 MASS BOOK. The Mass Book for the next calendar year is now open. The opportunity to pray in a special way for the repose of the soul of a loved one or other prayerful intention is made available each day with announced Mass offerings. You may choose to commemorate a death anniversary, wedding anniversary, birthday remembrance or simply pray in thanksgiving. Open dates begin in May.

COLDS AND COMMON SENSE. As we continue to pass through the winter months and flu season, please re-member to refrain from receiving the Precious Blood from the chalice, and even exchanging the sign of peace if not feeling well. Your neighbor will understand and thank you.

WHITE WELCOME ENVELOPES are located in the church for those who are new in the parish, for those who would like to receive weekly envelopes and for those who may have for-gotten their envelope today. Thank you for all your support for as parish as we try to meet our weekly needs. .

2017 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL continues with 252 pledges to the sum of $49, 145. All monies donated now will remain in the parish. Once again we look forward to a successful pledge drive at Incarnation mindful that eve-ry penny collected over goal returns to the parish. If you have never given to the appeal before please consider doing so this year. Pledge envelopes are by the doors of the church. With the par-ticipation of every parishioner we are guaranteed success.
